Review: C'mon, YOU PEOPLE LIKE THIS ...??? THe simpsons is one the most boring and depressing shows of our time... I used to like this show, when i was in 4th grade, since then ive developed a sense of humor. If you want an actually FUNNY cartoon show dont waste your money on this worthless junk, ... and be liberated from crappy TV FOREVER!!!

Summary: A Great Season for America 's Favorite family
Review: By far this is the best season out yet. There aren't any bad episodes and some are all time greats. My favorites were Homer at the Bat, Flaming Moe's, Bart's Friend falls in Love, and Treehouse of Horror II. The Special features are great a great and funny addition to your DVD collection

Summary: "MMMMMMMMM... Classic Simpsons."
Review: Its hard to acquire some DVDs here in the Philippines, and they are expensive too - especially those with multiple discs; but somehow, I did my best to buy the Simpsons Season 3 the moment I saw it available. This DVD got lots of good episodes that really made the Simpsons. This is classic Simpsons where most Simpsons fans from the 90s will get a lot of nostalgia merely watching it. You will also remember great Simpson jokes that we tend to forget due to the number of Simpson episodes... A number of celebrities contributed their voice to make this season one of the greates - Michael Jackson, Danny DeVito, the world's greatest band - AEROSMITH!, and several others...

About the DVD quality and goodies itself, it rocks! A lot of Simpsons goodies. Here are some overviews -- Jukebox is ok, just clips from the show with songs, nothing special really. I thought they said the butterfinger commercial was on Season 2, but its here(unless they have another set on Season 2) - these advertisments are cool and quite rare, especially to those outside US. A Thanksgiving parade with a Bart float is shown too, another good addition to your collection, as well as tons of others... here are my personal opinions of the pros and cons of the DVDs:

Pros:
The commentaries are in every episode that whenever youre bored, you can just watch an episode or two for the jokes and inside scoops.

The picture quality is great, I think they have re-colored the episodes since its a lot like the new Simpsons - rich and bright, unlike the same episode on TV reruns which is kinda dull...

Cons:
Pop-ups are very informative and fun though sadly, they are on a selected and very few episodes... this is one of the let-downs.

Storyboards and sketches are kinda confusing since you have to manually change it while the episode is running.

All in all, its still a great collection despite the few very minor disappointments. If you want to have classic Simpsons episodes in your house to watch everytime youre bored/feel like watching or to show whenever visitors come, especially at parties (Simpsons marathon WOOOHOOOOO!), this is the perfect bundle of joy for you!

Summary: Best Simpsons set yet!
Review: First off let me say that if anyone working on The Simpsons reads this please ignore the people who'd rather see a "bare bones" set cranked out faster, without the commentaries and extras - I LOVE the commentary tracks, and the reason this is the best set yet is the fact that the main cast members make appearances on some of the commentaries, AND there are even bonus 2nd commentaries on 4 episodes.

Now having said that I certainly would be happy with a faster release schedule, at least 2 seasons per year, maybe as many as 4 - though not at the cost of quality. If it comes to that I'd rather have them done right than fast. It is starting to look like something Matt Groening jokes about on the commentary tracks will come true (paraphrasing) - by the time all the seasons are released on DVD it will be an obsolete format... and you know High-Definition DVD is right around the corner.

At any rate please continue with all the extras - I'm a huge Simpsons fan (Comic Book Guy huge! Really!) but I don't think I'd buy a set of just the bare-bones episodes since they're in syndication (even though I hate that bits are edited out for time) and will be on TV forever (which is as it should be). As it is, with the extra features, I pre-order my set every year and haven't been disappointed.

Anyway I'm a major Simpsons fan, the show came on when I was in 7th grade - actually it was just the bumpers on the Tracy Ullman show at that time - I actually introduced my parents to the Tracy Ullman show because I liked The Simpsons so much. They loved Tracy Ullman (they didn't watch FOX which featured memorable shows like "Werewolf" in those days, so they had no idea there was actually a good show on FOX), I didn't get a lot of the jokes on that show (too young) but we all loved The Simpsons.

After that I was hooked, I was thrilled when I heard The Simpsons would be developed into it's own show, and I've seen every episode. Most of them multiple times since the syndication started. In my opinion The Simpsons is the best television show ever produced and probably the best that ever will be produced.

So having established my credentials as a "true fan", I commence with the whining. Some things I'd really like to see on future DVD sets (in addition to a faster release schedule):

1) Video of a table read. They did this on an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast and it was fantastic. As many of these as possible. I'd love to see and hear different takes on lines, lines that are cut from the final show, ad-libs, etc. Cast members cursing would be good too - even if you have to bleep it for a "family" release.

2) Subtitles/Closed Captioning of the commentary tracks, with the name of who is speaking displayed. Possibly color-coded. It's often a bit hard to tell who is who on those tracks, and Jim Brooks doesn't seem to say much so I'd like to know when it's him speaking. Plus a couple people sound a bit similar - I think it was Mike Reiss (apologies if this is misspelled) and Jim Brooks who I couldn't tell apart. By the way I don't find Al Jean's voice at all annoying (as he mentioned someone posted on the net in one of the commentaries) - I think he's got a cool voice and sounds like he should be a character on the show. Hmmm... I guess that may not sound as complimentary as I had intended it to.

3) Include Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer on some of the commentaries. These guys are so important to the show and both do such an amazing range of voices. Apu, Burns and Smithers, the list is nearly endless. Please drag them in kicking and screaming to do the commentaries if necessary. I'd also like to hear from more of the writers, Conan O'Brien, and maybe some of the guest stars - both one-time guests and recurring guests like Joe Mantegna.

4) A collection of ALL the shorts from the Tracy Ullman show (and anywhere else they may have aired). Complete complete complete!

That's about it, I'm sure I'll think of other features but I'd be thrilled if any or all of these could be included on future sets.

Summary: The Shows and DVDs are starting to shine even more
Review: I'll keep this short and sweet and make a couple of major points which I think make this set a great improvement over the previous 2 sets:

First is the introduction of a "play all episodes on disc" feature, which is VERY handy for those of us who want a simpsons marathon without having to wade thru 4 screens of menus every 25 meinutes for the next dose.

Second, this, IMO, is the season in which the show really started to shine. The animation, the acerbic wit- you can start to see the stuff that made the simpsons classic.

If you're a Simpsons fan or anyone else who has debated on buying the previous two sets, this one beats the previous sets in both content and menu accessibilty which is greatly improved over previous sets.

Summary: Classic Simpsons- Worth all the money!
Review: Even though this cost alot, "Simpsons-Season 3 is worth every penny. My favorite TV show of all time gets a well deserved 5 stars. Packed with a better digital transfer and uncut, which includes scenes not seen on the air! It also features goodies including commentary by creator Matt Groening and audio outtakes.

Though the show gets better by the seasons, Season #3 still packs a punch with its episodes, which are well-written and are more fast-paced then the previous two seasons. My favorite episodes are "Lisa's Pony", in which Homer gets a second job to pay for a pony's expenses he gave to Lisa. "Flaming Moe's" was funny when Moe the bartender becomes famous with a beer he stoled from Homer. "Radio Bart" and "Bart the Lover" are also good ones. The best episode is "Homer at the Bat." Because it shows all-star baseball players falling victim to bad luck when try to play Mr.Burns' softball game.

If your a Simpsons' fan, I defintely reccomend buying this. I can't wait for Season #4!

Summary: A must for any Simpsons fan
Review: A great set of DVDs. This set is thankfully set up a bit more user friendly than the last two. Of course it has all the classic episodes from the third season, plus extras. The only down side is the length of time it takes for each of these sets to be released.

Review: this season is when the "better" animation used drawn. Classic Simpsons. Its funny and brilliant. buy it or die!

Summary: great episodes from start to finish
Review: As so many people have already said, Season Three of the Simpsons is absolutely fantastic. I have only sporadically watched the show over the years, so I was surprised to see just how many great episodes were broadcast in Season Three. At this point, the animation had been cleaned up and had moved away from the rough forms of the first season. As good as season two was, Season Three is even better.

There are several great episodes in this season. "Flaming Moe's" is one of my favorite all time episodes, and there is also the classic goodness of the softball episode "Homer at the Bat" which features guest appearances by Roger Clemens, Daryl Strawberry, Wade Boggs, and Ken Griffey, Jr. We also see "I Married Marge", which features Homer recounting the story of how Marge and Homer ended up getting married, and "Radio Bart" where Bart drops his radio down the well and pretends to be a boy who fell down the well. I should also mention the annual Halloween episode, and the one where the Germans buy the powerplant.

From start to finish, this is a fantastic season and belongs in the collection of anyone who likes the Simpsons. Since the seasons do not follow any story arc, this may be one of the best places for a newcomer to the Simpsons (even though it seems hard to believe that there are newcomers to this show). I can only hope that future seasons will be releases more quickly than the length of time between seasons two and three. Seriously, this is good stuff here.
