Rating: Summary: About time! Review: (***This review was originally written Feb 13, 2003*** I edited my comments to be more politically correct and keep my comments limited to the DVD in question as well as to not offend the fans of the 2 other cable series I had previously bashed)
I just found out that at long last there will be indeed be a DVD box set for the long suffering fans of this great show.
We have our box set!
Kudos to whoever pushed behind the scenes to make this DVD a reality!
Rating: Summary: About time! Review: I just found out that at long last there will be indeed be a DVD box set for the long suffering fans of this great show.I personally find it impossible to understand why it took so long to issue this set, when it seems the tedious, lame "Queer as Folk" box set was released practically before that show completed it's first season. Not to mention "six feet under" or "oz" - what gives? Well, all that is irrelevant now! We have our box set! Kudos to whoever pushed behind the scenes to make this DVD a reality!
Rating: Summary: Shotime at it's finest Review: I love...absolutely love this show and was VERY upset when Shotime decided to cancel the series. I was even more disturbed by the "explaination" that they posted on their website. With all that out of the way... This is a show that can be loved by anyone...latino or not. This show leaves you wanting more. It also carried an amazing message throughout each episode...despite where you are from you can be anything you fight to be...and more importantly (and sometimes lacking in people's lives) through all your ups and downs at the end of the day tu familia will always be there.

Rating: Summary: Resurrection Blve Review: I loved these Dvd's. I rented these just because I saw that they had boxing in them. I was addicted. I can't wait till the next season comes out. I had never heard of this series and I wish that they had advertised it more. I thought they were great
Rating: Summary: Great series - Badly planned DVD Review: I recently got this DVD and I love the series but feel that they could have done a much better job in releasing the DVD.
It seems that none of the episodes have chaptering. That's not so great when an episode is just under 60 minutes. If you end up getting interrupted (as I always seem to do) you then have to start looking from the beginning of the episode for where you left off.
There are no subtitles. This series is mostly in English but includes a lot of Spanish dialogue. Subtitles here in one or the other or both of those languages would be great. I speak English (y un pequeno espanol) but I would definately benefit from subtitles so that I can pick up the dialogue that goes by too quickly for me.
I've got no complaints with the quality of the video transfer or the sound both are crisp and well done.
Rating: Summary: Take a chance on the program Review: I think this program is worth seeing. I bought it on a whim, never having seen it before. I just know that Showtime puts out some great drama series, like "Queer as Folk" and "Soul Food", so I knew Resurrection Blvd. would be good too. And it was. I like the authenticity of the show. The characters are compelling and you develop a relationship with them as you watch the series. The program is in English, and although some Spanish is spoken, it is always translated in the conversation of the actors, or easy to understand from the context of the specific scene. The writers demonstrate the importance of family in Mexican householdsm as well as the machismo. I really feel for Yolanda, who works all day in a stressful job as a paralegal, only to come home and cook for 5 men, "none of whom can even boil water" as Aunt Bibi says! It's unfortunate that the writers only includes Caucasian characters to antagonize the Mexican family. Aside from that, its a wonderful show.

Rating: Summary: High Quality High Production Value Drama Review: I was fortunate enough to have been invited to the release party for the DVD first Season and was impressed by the quality of acting, direction, the writing and overall production value of the pilot for this series. I'm a film person and the one thing that stood out about this program was that is was highly cinematic and played like a great theatrical feature. This was the first time I had seen the show and I now resent the fact that I missed the three years that the show was on the air on Showtime. This was a program that should have been on one of the big three networks, unfortunately they did not have the vision to distribute it to a larger audience and that is one reason that many us had to wait to see it on DVD. Some of the most exciting programs are coming out on cable. Why would anyone want to see the junk on network television when you can see a great show like this? I'm buying the DVD set for my father (I'm certain he will enjoy it. Anyway, I'm trying to score points with the old man!) Besides the fact that the series makes great entertainment, the producers show a part of Los Angeles you normally don't see on TV land. Interestingly the show is absent major sterotypes of Latinos, has a great cast and takes a well balanced approach to the issues facing Latino families in Los Angeles and elsewhere. I commend Dennis Leoni and Showtime for even getting this show off the ground. Enjoy! (...)
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: I've been waiting for this dvd. This was an excellent latino show. It had so much taste and profession. The topics were great and real. I didn't even find out about it until last year when Showtime started airing the old episodes. I wonder why it was cancelled? The only thing I couldn't understand was that the characters where supposed to be Mexican but everyone looked Puerto Rican. But that's ok because the men were still fine!
