Summary: What must we do Columbia?
Review: It looks as though we are not going to get our wish, maybe they didn't sell enough Season One's. Anyway, if you've never seen it, your missing the funniest television show ever created.

Rip Torn, Garry Shandling, "Hank", cameo after cameo of celebrities acting out their nourosis epitomizing 1990's pop culture into a hilarious format. Undoubtedly, Larry Sanders will be looked at in the future as far ahead of it's time. We will wish we had this type of show for every decade. Seeing Phil Hartman tongue-and-cheek with Corbin Bernson warmed my heart.

Summary: Can't beat it with a Rat Stick!
Review: It's too bad so many reviewers are critical of the video quality of the DVDs. I have some old HBO tapes, and I catch some of the reruns on Bravo, but I'm not seeing any difference. The transition between the show-within-a-show (shot on video) and the "backstage" scenes (shot on film) should be obvious to anyone. The DVDs are perfectly watchable, and we ought to be happy Columbia put these out all! I can only hope that all the criticism here hasn't killed sales to the point of Columbia not releasing the other seasons. We've had to wait over a year now, and there's still no sign of season two.

The Larry Sanders Show is simply the funniest show to come along since The Simpsons. Sit back and enjoy the sharp writing, biting satire, celebrity backstabbing, fantastic ensemble cast and, of course, Larry's neuroses. All 13 episodes are brilliant, but my favorite has to be the one where Larry, in his self-centered haste, shoves past a lady in a supermarket while attempting to buy aspirin. The whole thing is captured on a security camera, the tape (naturally) hits the tabloid media and hilarity ensues. I had to keep going back to catch stuff I missed because I was laughing so hard.

Although I think the DVD quality is fine and shouldn't deter anyone from buying it, Columbia could've improved a few things. The Garry Shandling interview is too brief, though extremely insightful (and awfully funny in its own right). Interviews with the other cast members, particularly with Jeffrey Tambor and the incomparable Rip Torn, would've been great. Maybe we'll get those in future DVD sets? Commentary tracks and scene selection would also be welcome. If nothing else, fans would drool over the outtakes from this series! I hope Columbia will see fit to release those someday. Incidentally, all 13 episodes ARE on the DVDs (Follow the arrow on disc 3's menu).

None of these omissions take away from the brilliance of "Larry Sanders." Any shortcomings are made up by simply having this show preserved on DVD, UNCUT and UNCENSORED. If you've never seen the show, treat yourself to this one. It's reasonably affordable, and you'll find yourself hooked in no time! It makes a better gift than the Garden Weasel!

Summary: Brilliant Screenplay but poor DVD transfer
Review: Because it never occurred to me that the producers of this DVD would take so little pride in the picture quality of this brilliant ground breaking sitcom, I spent hundreds of dollars seeing a retina doctor and other varies ophthalmologists trying to find out why my eyes had gone so bad. Bringing the Larry Sanders DVD into my doctor's office, the doctor assured me that yes, it was the poor picture quality and pronounced my eye sight normal.

Add'l, I paid for the entire first season, meaning all 13 episodes that were advertised on the three disk collection. However, only 11 episodes are actually included despite 13 being advertised on the box. What gives? Is this going to be something like the lost Honeymooner tapes and HBO will find the other 2 episodes in about twenty year's time & re-sell them to me? (I'd probably buy them!) Did they think we couldn't count to 13? Why not tell us that there are 256 episodes included instead & really fool us?

As far as the actual show goes, the story lines are FIRST rate. A real classic and recommended despite my sarcasm.

Summary: To: the Powers That Be
Review: I know I "speak" for hundreds of thousands (millions?) when I say: Please, please, PUH-LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE release ALL episodes/seasons of this groundbreaking series.
You're really missing a bet if you never release the entire series.

Summary: Brilliant
Review: This is a great, great comedy.

But what's happened to episodes 12 and 13 on disc 3? They're listed on the cover, they're listed on the episode guide inside. But they're NOT on the disc??!!

Summary: Great show, terrible transfer
Review: Fans of this delightul series will be extremely disappointed with the quality of this DVD. The video transfer is inferior to a VHS off-air recording, and brings to mind the bootleg copies of films sold illegally on the streets of Manhattan. It looks particularly bad on a large-screen TV.

Columbia Tristar should offer free upgrades to customers who bought this. Garry Shandling -- are you listening? Help your fans do something about this!

Summary: More please!
Review: The Larry Sanders Show was very funny. If you're catching re-runs on network TV and are wondering about buying the DVD, I'd recommend that you go ahead and place your order. Disc 1 contains an interview with Garry Shandling which sheds a great deal of light on the production and style of the show. It will enhance your appreciation of what made this series so good. Plus the DVDs have all the swear words which adds enourmously to the fun. Artie is so blunt and direct that his character loses a lot when he's censored by the overly PC networks. You will not be disappointed and I'm sure, like me, you'll watch these episodes over and over again. Which is kind of the point of owning them. "Right, Artie?".

Summary: does my a*s look big?
Review: Please please people DO NOT give low star rating to the Larry Sanders Show, it is just not right. I did see all the episodes on HBO, reruns and reruns of reruns included (still bought the DVD copy. It is not the DVD tansfers that are bad. The show looked the same on the television, all 'behind the stage' shots were done with non broadcast quality 'feel' on purpose, i guess to give it more 'real',amateurish atmosfere. So, please, do not whine about the transfer quality and rate the best American tv SHOW with 2-3 stars, these little stars are not ment for that... Mr.Shandling, you rock!

Summary: Please buy this!
Review: This is one of the best TV comedies ever. I'd like you to buy this set in the hopes Columbia Tristar will release the rest of 'em.
