Summary: Good cop drama!
Review: This is television writing at a superior level. The stories in each episode mesh in a compelling
way with the arc of the season. The actors are superior and well chosen. I particularly like that
the actors are not Hollywood beautiful people but are more atypically attractive. The drawbacks
to the series so far are the ham-handed music and the irritating device of jumpy camera work.
These flaws were not enough to keep me from being enthralled by the series and looking forward to each disc.

Summary: The Season to Own
Review: Agree with another reviewer about this being the show's best season. The stories were fantastic, the acting top-notch, and Caruso perfectly embodied the noble Irish NYC cop with an intensity that left the show with a giant emotional hole once he departed.

Summary: Enhanced Regional Coding Suspected.
Review: Buyers outside the US, be aware that these Region 1 DVDs DID NOT PLAY on my DVD reader - although it ordinarily accepts all 6 regional encodings.

Summary: Season One - Hands Down Was The Best!!
Review: Definitely the best season of them all....David Caruso was excellent on the show..a shame he decided to leave. I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1. I am a fan of all of the seasons, but this is where it all started and these are some great episodes. A definite to add to the collection!!

Summary: hysterical
Review: I actually dont like the show that much. I only got it because it was only (...), and figured i'd check it out. but those first 3 episodes of the first scene were hysterical. Any scene with Dennis franz, and that character named "alfonze giardello" were the best. I didnt care about watching any other scene, unless it was with these 2 characters. I fast forwarded through everything else. Everyone goes on, in the reviews, about david caruso being the "star", but I found him to be quite boring. I loved in the beginning when dennis franz called that D.A. a (...), and grabbed his crotch. and who can forget dennis mocking alfonze, in just about every scene he had with him, about his hair piece. hysterical! especially when in one scene, he takes it off his head, shoves it down his mouth, along with taking off his (dennis franz) sock, and shoving that down his mouth as well!

Summary: Nothing but BLUE
Review: I missed the first season as I was a latecomer onto this show. So, I'm always on the lookout for shows from the first season. here they all are together!

The first season certainly does illustrate the promise of BLUE to come. This was landmark television... Gritty, realistic, and compelling,.. pushing the envelope.

The story line with Janice, the beat cop who is mobbed up, and Caruso is nice. He is such a moralist and she is so hung out to dry here. She's damned if she does and if she doesn't.

Sipowicz grabs us from the get-go and shows us what he's about. His near-death, sobreity, new relationship with Sharon Lawrence, and his fledgingly understanding of Lt. Fancy is an interesting relationship twister to watch.

Just a fabulous show and we can watch it from the beginning.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I never watched NYPD Blue before, but I have heard so many good things about this show that I finally had to breakdown, buy the DVD box sets (seasons 1 & 2) and watch from the beginning. Wow! I now know what all the hype was about and I can certainly see why this show is still going on and has won so many awards. Great writing, great acting, and this show certainly pushed the boundries as to what can be shown on television. The show handled the unexpeted departure of Caruso very well - replacing his character with Smits. I can't wait until season 3 comes out!

Summary: No more Blue on DVD
Review: It seems that due to poor sales figures the NYPD Blue series has bit the dust and there will be no release of season 3. Why are people not buying these NYPD sets I will never know as they are fantastic. Get it bought you know its worth even penny
