Rating: Summary: More, More! Review: I can't add much to the other 104 reviews, except to ask WHEN the second season will be released on DVD. This show was so excellent that I would love to have the remainder in my collection, as well.
Rating: Summary: My favorite program of all time! Review: This DVD set is wonderful! I never get tired of watching it. I'm hoping the remaining episodes will be out on DVD one day so I can own all the episodes that were aired. I was extremely disappointed when this TV program was dropped.
Rating: Summary: other seasons Review: Like everyone else, I am eagerly awaiting for the next seasons... I pray that the show has enough fans for the other seasons to come out! If it doesn't, I'm willing to buy taped copies from anyone.
Rating: Summary: PLEASE RELEASE SEASON TWO!!!!! Review: A wonderful show, a great DVD (although extras would have made it even better) - but where are the other seasons? PLEASE RELEASE THE NEXT ONCE AND AGAIN-BOXSET!!! There are enough fans out there to guarantee you a profit!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good show, but ... Review: This show is absolutely better written, better acted, more relatable, and more entertaining than most of the TV shows out there. But... after reading all of the glowing Amazon reviews, I thought I should add my two cents to put things into perspective. I had never caught Once and Again when it was originally broadcasted, but I have come to strongly prefer watching television shows on DVD instead anyway. A litmus test to see if you might agree with my views at all: My all-time favorite TV shows on DVD are (in order): Sex and the City, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (a very aquired taste to really appreciate it), My So-Called Life, The Sopranos, Alias, and Twin Peaks. I am a huge fan of the other collaborations by Once and Again's writers and producers: especially My So-Called Life, and I also liked Thirtysomething quite well and even the very short-lived Relativity. Also being a fan of Sela Ward's, I was excited to try Once and Again. It IS good, and after about 3-4 episodes I grew to be quite impressed and thought it really had potential. But there is one consistent flaw that prevents it from being Outstanding in my mind. Too melodramatic. While the kids seem pretty real to me, some of the lines between Lily and Rick come across as far too cheesy. I cringe. And Lily cries far more than any adult I've come across in my entire life! She has tears in just about every single episode. The characters are great and, while some of the storylines are cliched, you do care about the families, but there is just too much "trying too hard" to be touching (the snow punctuating the X-mas episode), funny (Lily and her daughters giggling and food-fighting), and romantic (again, much of the dialogue between Lily and Rick) so that it rings false and forced. It doesn't help that I don't think Billy Campbell is the best actor for the part. He's decent looking, but he seems a bit wooded, especially when conjuring tears or raising his voice. And in every day situations I just don't find him to be terribly charismatic. I also think that the business aspects (the architectural agency, restaurant, and bookstore) are very "TV world" cliche. Thirtysomething, My So-Called Life, Ellen, Party of Five, and many others had characters running similar businesses. Maybe the reason shows often use these types of entrepeuneral careers is because they think they are more interesting than an engineer, an administrative assistant, and an accountant. That may be true, but in Once and Again's case it just feels unorginal and unrealistic. I have not seen Season Two, and i will probably give it a shot if they release the DVD. Season One left me entertained, though slightly disappointed.
Rating: Summary: GREAT show! Review: I'm one of those who missed it when it was aired on television, but fell in love with it while watching the reruns on late night Lifetime channel. I just had to purchase this DVD set. I even got my war-movie loving husband hooked! Sela Ward shines...and the stories are so true-to-life! Such amazing writing! I cannot understand why this show failed after only 3 short seasons. I only have one question...WHEN ARE THE 2nd & 3rd SEASONS GOING TO BE AVAILABLE???!!! I can't wait!
Rating: Summary: Simply the Best! Review: I watched Once & Again from the first time in aired on ABC and I was a fan till the very end. It was a mistake this show went off the air and ABC never really gave it the chance it deserved. When I found out the series was coming to DVD I bought it the first week it came out. I watched the first season from start to finish and it took me back to the fine times of primetime television. This series was and always will be the "Best Show You Weren't Watching". So pick up the DVD and you will be bagging for the second and third seasons as much as I am. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Amazing show Review: This was an amazing show. I am so disappointed it was cancel from the air. I wish they would bring it back. But at least the DVD is here, I am so happy to see that!
Rating: Summary: Where are seasons 2 and 3 ??????? Review: I loved this DVD set! This has to be my all time favorite series and they took it away- right when it was getting even better! Does anyone know when they are releasing the next 2 seasons? I will be first in line to buy!
Rating: Summary: This is the BEST Review: Don't miss this all-time favorite series of mine. What a treasure to watch over and over with a rich cast of characters and phenomenal true to life script. I just wish they'd put out the other seasons & SOON!!
