Summary: EXCELLENT!
Review: I was highly impressed with this DVD. I thought I might watch this DVD set maybe 3 or 4 times and get tired of it but instead I have watched it atleast 20 times I still love it!! If you are even a small fan then you need to buy this season.

Summary: Let us focus on the main reason this show existed.
Review: Dr. Zoidberg is what the future holds for all mankind. After the human race destroys this planet the Crustaceans shall take over. Though thought to be an alien, the truth is Dr. Z is the result of 1000 years of toxic waste, polluted air, and genetic experimentation. In the past the reptiles had their time, the mammals are now in ours, but the future will take another solid step in the evolution process and nature will finally get it right.

The episode where Dr. Z goes to his home planet was a sound stage right here on Earth, same as the 1969 Apollo moon shot hoax. What you were actually watching is Lake Erie as it will appear 1000 years from now.

With higher intelligence, a more dependable body, and attratcive mouth appendages, the Crustaceans will rule the planet for eternity. I just wish I could see the glorious day when I could take my place as nature's perfect creation.

And let us not forget the lessons that Dr. Zoidberg taught us as he made the most of his appearances. The human anatomy is imperfect, that's why he was always trying to fix it. The anchovie is the perfect food, and living in isolation is the supreme Zen experience. Learn from Dr. Z, he is our future.

Summary: Makes me forget the Simpsons....
Review: If you've ever watched the Simpsons for any amount of time, you eventually start seeing things through Groening-esque goggles. You throw in a "d'oh" here or there, practice your Marge nag, and maybe even perfect a haiku on Homer. But after watching this DVD, Futurama has replaced the Simpsons in my book.

Back when Futurama started out, I was intrigued, but occupied so I didn't give it a chance to sink in. After the Fox game of "Try Finding Your Favorite Show This Week, Suckers!" I eventually caught it on Adult Swim and became hooked. Since purchasing the first season and receiving the second season as a gift, the Simpsons is but a fading memory.

Don't get me wrong, the Simpsons was genius in it's prime, but Futurama rarely stumbles even after multiple viewings. I would have hoped people would lay off the "Bender's like Homer" critique, as it's unfounded; Homer may be dumb and occasionally do mean-spirited things because he's ignorant, but Bender's just mean-spirited when it serves his own purpose and it makes his characterization that much better.

Futurama had the benefit of coming along just as the Simpsons machine was perfected; almost any episode can be seen out of sequence and fit together. Try patching second and sixth season Simpsons episodes together and just squirm in your seat. While part of the charm of the Simpsons is the subtle shift towards eventual perfection, Futurama was able to come out of the gate nearly perfect.

Smart, well written, expertly voiced (Billy West is the master) and perhaps the funniest thing Fox will ever release, Futurama is fantastic. Buy some now.

Summary: The Subsitute for all Family Guy Lovers
Review: I know people will be mad at me for saying I like Family Guy much better, but Futurama is very entertaining. My two favorite characters are Bender and Dr. Zoidberg. Bender being sarchastic reminds me of Brian from Family Guy and Zoidberg reminds me of Peter and Homer except he's smarter than both of them. Futurama is more of a plot filled show like when they go on Planet Express missions and that can be more entertaining sometimes when you don't want to watch the stupidness of the Family Guy and The Simpsons. I never like King of the Hill and I wished it would have been cancelled instead of Family Guy and Futurama. Family Guy may be coming back and I know that people think Futurama still will. I don't think fox has enough room for four adult cartoons even though there have only been five the last one being South Park. Futurama is a great show still and I'm glad it's on Adult Swim.

Summary: Excellent series killed off too soon, but you can buy it now
Review: From the creator of "The Simpson's" comes another show, "Futurama." Unfortunately Fox put it in a time slot in which not many were able to watch it regularly. It was cancelled, but now you can own this series on DVD.

The series comes in a slip-box style case with clear inserts so that you can see the box art on the case inside. This is one of the few faults that I have with the set. It's too easy for the outer case to get damaged. Each disc also comes in it's own individual dvd case. While this is nice, the cases seem to be tempermental about closing.

Each disc has 4 or so episodes on it along with commentary for each episode, deleted scenes, and some other assorted goodies. The show looks good, or at least as good as it looked when it aired.

The commentaries are one of the highlights of the discs. Not only do you get some background info on what is going on in the show, but you also get to hear some of the voice actors chiming in with their characters voices.

If you liked Futurama, then you need this set. It's a worthwhile investment with the bonus of not having commericals during the show.

Pro's:
-Great series available on DVD
-Commentary is funny and gives some good background info on the show.
-Deleted scenes are always a good thing.

Con's:
-Slip-style case gets damaged too easily.
-The actual DVD cases are sometimes difficult to close.

Equipment used:
21-inch Magnavox TV
Playstation 2

Summary: Great Series
Review: Great. Amazing. Not really into family guy or simpsons. But futurama is amazing, really blows them both out of the water. Not laden with over simplistic parody. I really don't like family guy because of that and the numerous pop culture references. BORING. i like originality and futurama has lots of it.

Oh don't listen to this guy who gave it 3 stars. He gave DAREDEVIL 4 stars. What a tool! hahahaha. buy futurama now!

Summary: Better than Simpsons, Family Guy
Review: This show has always captivated me, every-time it was on I religiously watched it. The Simpsons have been lacking recently, as in the last several years... Family Guy albeit better than the Simpsons follows the same format of the Simpsons -- family in a suburb. I am tired of that and welcome the diverse adventures of the Planet Express crew rather than said suburb. Hopefully enough DVD sales coupled with Cartoon Network stellar performance of the series will signal its renewal.

Summary: Bashful's DVD Summary #022
Review: Best:

1) The dense sight-gags, verbal jokes and comedy situations are as funny as anything you could want (and still be suitable for television).
2) There's a must-listen commentary track on EVERY episode and deleted scenes on most.

Worst:

1) You might have to put up with confused stares from your older relatives (like your mother or father) who don't understand why you're laughing so hard.

Recommendation:

Like season 1, the replay value of these animations are as high as anything in the universe. The special features for all of the "Futurama" sets put them in the stratosphere of value, so be prepared to get them all.

Summary: Matt Groenings a genius
Review: If you like the simpsons youll prolly like this show, great episodes and its not on tv as much as the simpsons so youll be able to see some new ones prolly.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Season 1 was better.
Review: I feel that Season 1 of Futurama was a great way to start the series off. it was humorous, interesting, and even better than Matt Groening's other animated t.v. classic, The Simpsons. However, that all changed when they reached Season 2. The creators were obviously out of good ideas, so they instead created episodes with loads of boring and useless plots that no one cares about.

Besides that, the humor also took a turn for the worse. This so-called "Humor" wasn't really funny at all, but instead was just stupid. For instance, here's a typical Season 2 Futurama joke:

*Fry and Leela walk into a restraunt called "Burgerworms". Fry orders a 'Special Burgerworm with cheese'. When he gets his meal, he realizes the food is just a bun with a worm in it*

Wow, now that was really funny, wasn't it? Every episode is filled with dumb jokes like that.

Anyway, the ONLY reason why I gave this set three stars was because of the special features. Every episode has at least one special feature to go with it, whether it be a commentary from the creators or deleted scenes. I thought this was quite impressive, since other similar DVD box sets like Family Guy only have few features.
