Summary: Season One - One of the best by far
Review: Finally, Season One has arrived. With extra tidbits and comments, this set really highlights one of Buffy's most amazing seasons in terms of reality and definition of the show. Beginning with "Welcome to the Hellmouth," and ending with "Prophesy Girl," this is a surefire hit with all Buffy fans. It includes:
Buffy meeting Angel for the first time; also, his subsequent revelation that he'a a vampire.
The Master - Need I say more?
The introduction of Ms. Calender.
The core Scoobies - Willow and Xander (in the early years, those two and Buffy were a triumvirate, an essence that the show started to lose later on).
Everything else about this season because it rocked!
More so, this was the first show on television that promised to kill off it's main character and then actually went through with it. Although certainly not as powerful as Season Two (Buffy's best season by far), this season sets the stage for the show...it was so awesome, the Joss keeps proclaiming that Season Seven is all about: Buffy, Year One!

Summary: Joss Whedon is my hero
Review: Okay first things first, I'm a *huge* Buffy fan, so of course I'm biased. Second, I feel in order to give an accurate review, i have to separate the elements of the DVD package from the elements of the show itself.

The show:
I'm one of those people who immediately scoffed at the idea of this show. Until I watched it. It works on so many levels and is iabout so much more than vampires and demons. It's completely and thoroughly real. Whatever your beliefs on the supernatural, if you survived high school you can relate to this show. Joss Whedon has created characters that are so amazingly true, that you can't help but see yourself on the screen. The evils that Buffy fights on a weekly basis are metaphors for everyone's inner demons. I won't go too far, because this package only contains season 1, but if the show had ended there it would still be more than worthwhile.

I was reluctant at first to purchase this set because my first thought was that season 1 is my least favorite season- it doesn't contain all my favorite story arcs, has a lot lighter tone than later seasons, and is missing some favorite characters. But then I sat down and watched them again. ...

The show is a must watch from beginning to end, get the DVD package & get season 2 & when they come out, get them all.

The DVD package:
There's some really great stuff. Joss Whedon's commentary on Welcome to the Hellmouth alone is worth the price of admission. The interviews with Joss are pretty insightful, although it's obviously the same interview spliced throughout the set. ...

However, I must agree that they missed the boat on the things they *could* have included. I for one could listen to Joss Whedon commentary on every single episode. And how about interviews with other cast members, including, oh I don't know, SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR!!!!

So altogether, the DVD package is still a must have. Yes, there are things I wish were different, but it's still awful good & it's not like there are other Buffy first season packages out there to choose from.

Summary: This DVD is a must for any Buffy fan!
Review: I would highly recommend this DVD to any fan.

This dvd starts with the first episode which originally aired in March of 1997.

Welcome to the hellmouth follows Buffy starting her new life in Sunnydale, after burning down her previous schools gym. In this episode she meets her Watcher, Giles, who trains her to slay vampires. She also meets Xander, who is the comic relief, after dropping the contents of her bag. She first sees Willow, the computer whiz, after snobby Cordilia insults her.

Buffy the is an interesting series which integrates teen angst, violence, and drama all the way from Welcome to the Hellmouth to Prophecy Girl.

I have been an avid Buffy fan since 1998 which when i saw buffy at a friends house.

I hope my review has helped in your decision to buy this dvd.

Summary: OK First outing, but . . .
Review: I was disappointed in the amount of extras that were missing from this dvd. The unaired pilot would've been great to have seen as well as director's cuts of some of Joss' episodes. I'm a huge fan of the show, but it could have been better.

I was also disappointed that they presented Welcome to the Hellmouth and The Harvest the way that they aired in reruns instead of the way they originally aired as one continuous episode. That was just plain lazy.

Fox, if you're listening, please don't release the "edited" version of Once More With Feeling when season 6 finally reaches DVD, or you will have plenty of upset fans.

Summary: Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete First Season
Review: When I first saw the movie I thought that it was ok. But it wasn't what I'd call one of the greatest films in our history. So when the series came on I didn't really think much about it, and thought it was going to crash within the first few episodes, but it didn't.

After a while I sort of got into the habit of watching it on FX whenever I got home. It was then that I realized how much I really liked this show. And I got to know the characters alot better. Giles and his sort of quiet humor who would rather read a good book than watch the "idiotbox". Then theres Xander who has a big sense of humor but can get annoying sometimes. And Willow who is really the shy girl next door, who doesn't really know how to show her feelings until she meets Buffy. Angel who is the desperate soul happens to be a vampire and he falls in love with buffy, The classic Romeo and Juliet. Finally theres Buffy herself who is going through alot in her life, trying to be a regular teenager who has superhuman strength and has to save the world now and then.

I recommend this series for anyone who loves a drama with action and comedy in it.

Summary: An incredible first season
Review: I started watching the show in its 4th season and had no idea what I was missing because I stayed away from the show (for some odd reason) for the first 3 season and once I started watching I knew I had to see the first season.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Buffymania
Review: First of all, I want to say that I love this DVD. The main reason for that is obviously I am affected by a common disease called Buffymania. I do think that Joss Whedon is a genius in creating the series. The DVD would be a great source for the followers of the TV show, but I also think that the first timers would also like this item. Special features are not excellent but it is sufficient for the first boxed set.

Summary: Buffy is a great show
Review: When I first thought of Buffy, I thought "Oh gee, a bimbo saving the world, I certaintly want to watch that" But during summer break, there was nothing else to do, so I decided to spend the thirty dollars it cost and watched it. I was hooked on the first episode and three days later went out and bought the second season. I loved how you could actually relate to the characters. Ive never been popular in my class, but Ive always had my group of friends to hang with, and then of course, theres the boyfriend troubles, which get more serious in the second season. And there are a few of those (for most females) tear jerking episodes. In my opinion, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a cant miss TV show.

Summary: You Have To Like It!
Review: I never really watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but one day, I just had to get another DVD so I ordered this one. After only watching the first out of three disc's it was my favorite show!
It is about a girl named Buffy Anne Summers, who gets kicked out of her old school, in L.A., for burning down the gym, (Hey, it was full of Vampires!) and her mom, Joyce Summers, moves to Sunny Dale, California, for a new start with Buffy.
There Buffy meets the school librarian, Rupert Giles, whom is her new Watcher, (The person who trains her for Vampire Slaying) and her two new best friends, Xander, and Willow.
With them by her side she fights Vampires, Demon's, and any sorce of Evil. And not only is it a great show, with comedy, cute guys, and action, it shows that females can also kick butt. And in this show, they kick it a lot more then the boys!

Summary: No ordinary show.....
Review: It's time for you to open your eyes and realize that BTVS is no ordinary show. Demon stories always serve to tell more personal stories. Demons are frequently metaphors for personal issues. Characters are developed with respect--nobody is a cartoon. Each season is full of thematic arcs. The entire series is full of thematic arcs. Everybody must pay the price for their actions.

These are the mysterious and rarely recognized secrets of *good storytelling.*

Did you think this was a story about a ditzy girl with a stake? This is a story about your life. It's time for *you* to start watching. Yourself. I mean, you start watching yourself. The show. You. Yes.
