Summary: Keeps the SciFi buff out of YOUR hair!
Review: Although I'm a fan of ST:TNG, I am not as "fanatical" as my hubby is... however... give the man the Series on DVD and he's out from underfoot so I can roam about the house cleaning, doing crafts, cooking, etc.If your man loves SciFi and you need him out from underfoot, get this series for him!!!

Review: Most of the main characters have a personal crisis of one kind or another(including Q if you can believe it).The character of Tasha Yar makes a one time reapperence after being killed in the first season.Than the Borg cliffhanger.

Review: We now see the release of Season 3 on DVD, now compare this to the original series,
3 seasons of TNG, 20 discs, right,
3 seasons of TOS, 40 discs, interesting,
Its because TNG is on Dual Layer DVD's, & TOS is on mostly Single Layer DVD's
A complete waiste,
TNG, is however, not a complete waiste, So anybody who wants to complain, Hey, it could have been worse,
Many earlier DVD's come with adds for STAR TREK DVD's, & on the back, it says, TNG coming soon to DVD, 2 episodes per disc,
Is that what you wanted?
The company obviously abandoned that project to do the boxed sets, cause of the angry fans who knew TOS was a complete waiste, So if you dont like these boxed sets than you can go & kiss Paramounts...!

Summary: I can't rate just one!
Review: I love the ST:TNG cast, but when it originally aired I never did get to see all of the episodes. I can't rate just one season, because all the years it spent on the air I have enjoyed. I purchased this collection for two reasons: (a) I can watch ALL the episodes in chronological order [as they aired], and (b) so that I can watch it again and again. The bonus features that are included with the boxed sets adds to the interest I have in the show. Some people may not enjoy behind the scenes featurettes because it could detract the excitement of the story, but it's the opposite for me -- it adds to the enjoyment. Because the collection is distributed on DVD it will display great picture quality as I'm sure the producers intended to be. It also won't wear down as quickly as tapes do, which is a good thing for those who like to watch and watch and watch until it's engrained into the subconscious. I think it's worth the money spent.

Summary: TNG now has it's running legs!
Review: From the beginning of the third season to the very last show of season 7, "All Good Things,", TNG is now running at full stride. In the Hiatus between seasons two and three, the shows producers made some very good and very important changes. They hired Michael Piller, who from then on showed what a consistently good writer can do. They finally got rid of the terrible spandex uniforms, which from what I've read were actually causing the actors physical problems. They changed the main title, lead in for the show. Overall there were a great many wonderful scenes/episodes to come out of the third season! Some of the shows that really made the season: The Ensigns of Command

The Best of Both Worlds Part 1 With Best of Both Worlds, we received the first and inarguably the best cliffhanger of the entire series. If you were like myself, watching these shows every week as they came out. You were probably in agony over the summer to see the season four opener and find out if they got Captain Picard back. This like all the other seasons is worth the hefty price for the DVD. In addition to having all the wonderful shows, there are plenty of extras.

Summary: Nice Change in the Third Season
Review: The appearance of the third season box set is no different than the first two. The interior folder for the DVDs, the small fold out booklet, and the listing of which episode is on which DVD is the same as the other two seasons. The difference happens when you put the DVD in. Instead of showing clips of the episodes one after another, the screen is divided into four sections, with clips of each episode playing simultaneously. I think this is a nice change, it's a bit distracting to try and watch all four sets of clips, but if you're looking for one episode in particular, this cuts down on the waiting. The third season is essentially like the first two, there's special features on the last DVD, and the episodes are laid out the same way on each disk. The consistency is really nice, and if it continues through the whole set it will end up being a nice collectable for Star Trek: The Next Generation fans.

Summary: Best of All Thee
Review: Next Generation is my best "Trek" programming, and this third year series has the best of the available episodes. Clearly, the series came together in its writing and acting. It seems everyone is operating at "prime". Beverly Crusher returns after an awful year with medical officer Pulaski. Guest characters such as "Q", the "Transfiguration" being, Zurak, and, of course, the Borg, make this year incomprehensible. IT's a great way to get lost in this whole environment. Enjoy!

Summary: Fantastic along with season 5
Review: I have read review after review that has praised the third season of TNG and I absolutely agree with them. I have always thought that TNG is by far the better Star Trek series compared with, say the new Enterprise series and I'm sorry but that theme tune does not cut it. It is one typical aspect of that series which comes across as obvious back slapping on the part of America (sorry but true) as opposed to TNG that has none of this as I'm sure Gene wanted and is all the better for it. That said, all the scripts are improved as a result of writer reorganisation at the time and it shows. As a series this ranks as the best along with Season 5 but as a DVD set I have my misgivings. As one other review noted unlike say, X-Files, there are no commentaries of any kind, no deleted scenes or even bloopers. (I have heard that there are reels archived away) therefore like the other sets they are let down by this. That said this is still worth owning as Paramount won't be re-releasing these sets with all new extras any time soon (or at least they better not). Everyone has given an episode by episode account of the series but all I feel inclined to say is this: Borg. There are no obvious let downs in the season but then I never felt that let down by the first seasons when I first saw them. The difference with the third season is it stands up to the test of time. Amazon offer the best price on this set that I have come across and aside from the little nit picking relating to the features is a fine set.

Summary: Star Trek Next Generation Season 3 is outstanding
Review: I love these episodes in Star Trek the Next Generation Season 3. Despite the advance technology of the future they have, they deal with many of the personal and ethical problems we deal with today. That makes each of the stories relevant to today's world. One thing that I do personally disagree with in these stories is that the crew completely ignores the possible of God. I think this is clear in the episode "Who Watches the Watchers" where Picard tries to show what disastrous effects believing in God causes. And although I agree a lot of bad has been done in the name of God, I do believe God is the creator and that he is ultimately in control of our lives and the universe. Aside from that difference, I do enjoy the story telling very much and do recommend these DVD videos.

Summary: An Excellent DVD for those who loved the third season
Review: In my opinion, Star Trek: The Next Generation during its third season, was at its very best. Episode after episode of this season are absolutely superb, the stories, the acting, and the visual effects, which really plays only a small part in the sucess of the third season as a method of helping to tell some incredibly good stories. My favorite episodes of this third season DVD set are The Enemy, Booby Trap, The Hunted, The High Ground, Yesterday's Enterprise, Transfigurations, and the season end cliffhanger, The Best Of Both Worlds. The other episodes that I didn't mention, are episodes of superior quality, and are well worth watching. There are some behind the scenes documentaries on the last disc for this set, but I feel that more could have been done by having a behind the scenes commentary track for at least some of the episodes.
