Rating: Summary: Voyager - Real People, Real Problems Review: Like most Star Trek adventures the characters started a little stiff and wooden. But with Voyager they managed to get out of this problem very quickly and develope real characters who made real mistakes.A good variety of characterisation including aliens and finally a woman captain. Janway goes through many mood swings as might be expected from a woman captain alone in the Delta quadrant, but this makes her more real since she has to face these real problems effectively alone. Thank goodness for no more Admirals from starfleet who don't seem to know the first thing about real problems. Did you ever get the feeling in the other Star Treks that there were more Admirals than Captains. They seemed to pop up every second week. Basically the real apeal of this DVD series is that we grow to feel as though we are part of a special family of people dealing with practical and moral problems similar to thoses that we have to deal with every day. Highpoints are the feel good episodes like Fairhaven or the action episodes with the Borg. Low points are the long drawn out episodes with the Kason-Nistrim. Voyager is a great DVD series to watch if you just want to relax and be entertained and enlightened.
Rating: Summary: enough already Review: Come on people. There was absolutely nothing original about this show. It was melodramatic and boring. Janeway's politically correct starfleet line would put Madeline Albright to shame. No daring or original thought from here at all. Mulgrew's portrayal of her was so stiff and withdrawn that one could care less if she lived or died. I watched the first season or two and was severly disappointed. I had the unfortunate occassion to watch the last episode. Needless to say I have NO desire to find out what happen in-between. This show made the first two seasons of TNG seem great. Just watch the original series, last five seasons of TNG and all of Deep Space and leave Star Trek at that.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely essential! Review: I am not going to write a big review, I'll only say it would be logical, after TNG, DS9, to release Voyager on DVD, besides the fact it is the most interesting series of ST! It would also be nice to balance the level between Voyager and Enterprise (with the poor and aggravating quality of the Enteprise series it would be hard to achieve, why did they put this ugly song and not the symphonic music composed for the serie?). I refrain myself to re watch all Voyager episodes again to savour them when they will come out on dvd.
Rating: Summary: The only star trek I watch religiously Review: I'm not much of a star trek fun. But since I move here in Canada, and caught an episode of star trek Voyager, I would watch it everytime I have a chance. I love all the characters, I dont have a favorite. All episodes that I've seen so far are great! I can't wait for the whole episode in DVD. I hope they will release it soon. I'm itching to get my hands on those DVDs.
Rating: Summary: Looking to see the rest of Voyager! Review: Star trek Voyager was my favorite of all the Star Trek spin off series. Unfortunately most of us in Montana never got to see any episopes after the first two seasons; and here, it is not in reruns! In order to see Seasons Three throught seven it will either have to appear on Sci-Fi or we will have to buy the video's. It is a mystery to me why season one has not been put on the market. I check almost evey month and still there is nothing. I know why Deep Space Nine was put out first and that is because it was also aired first. But it is high time that Voayger was made available to it's public , especially since it was never released in much of the country. However, it was I believed produced by a different company. I'm looking to finally see some of the later seasons especially since I have been told that John Reese Davies is in some of the later seasons. Thanks ------------J
Rating: Summary: Voyager - Every episode is unique. Review: STV has been and continues to be my favorite ST series. I love unpredictable shows and STV through me for a loop several times. It tugs at the heart right from the beginning. Every episode makes me think ... "what would I do in Janeway's situation?" A crew trying to get home-faced with perils, not affraid to stick to their priciples even if it means not getting home sooner. STV has the right blend of humor, intrigue, danger, compassion and end of your seat nail-biting episodes. The momemt Janeway steps onto her bridge there is a convincing and natural transition for her. She is believable and strong. Regardless of the countless times she jeopardizes her crew to save Star Fleet Priciples or to save a race I admire her ethics. When the series ends in sindication I think I might suffer Voyager withdrawal. I am expecting and anticipating a DVD series. It would be a fitting end to an awesome series and a possible cure for my (and many other STV fans) withdrawal.
Rating: Summary: I cannot wait for Voyager on DVD Review: Voyager is by far the best Star Trek series ever produced. Now, I am a huge fan of all the shows, even the new Enterprise, which has finally found its groove, but Voyager is the one show I could watch over and over and never be bored. Like the others who have posted here, I agree that the FX, storytelling, and actors are supurb. I've been checking Amazon monthly, waiting for the chance to per-order all 7 seasons on DVD (I have all 172 episodes on my computer). Hopefully Paramount will announce it soon and we can all pre-order it. If you haven't discovered Voyager yet, you should seek it out on your local network (My area shows Voyager on Sunday mornings), if you like the world of Star Trek, Voyager will soon be your favorite. I'm hoping the next Star Trek Movie will be a Voyager movie, even if Jerry Ryan (7 of 9) refuses to come back. (Boston Pubic has made her "such" a star). It would be great to see the crew of Voyager on a mission in the Alpha quantrant.
Rating: Summary: Voyager Trekkie all the way! Review: Voyager: music to my ears! Being only 5 when I saw my first episode, it was kinda beyond my comprehension, but now, I'm glued! The only thing that really bugs me is Neelix. He gets really annoying, really fast. If he's only there a little while, he adds spice. Anyway, I'm an avid Trekkie. Besides the fact I've only seen 2 episodes of TNG (We don't get a full cable package) and am just starting to watch TOS (It didn't help when SciFi replaced it with the Hulk. Grrr.) I love them. (PS, Enterprise does need some work.) All I really have to say is: WHY DID YOU GUYS (PARAMOUNT) START PUTTING DS9 OUT BEFORE VOYAGER?
Rating: Summary: Where's the DVD? Review: Voyager not only stands out amongst the Star Trek series, it exemplifies what great television and quality entertainment should be. It is a utopian fusion of plot, characters, and just plain KICK-A** acting! Mulgrew's personification of Janeway is unsurpassable; her posture, self-carriage, intellect, and the fact that she is the first female captain of the Federation has turned this character into one of the most interesting and praise-worthy in television. Seven's perfectionism and rigidity, Tuvok's genius-prone intellect, the backbone of the plot that is Chakotay, B'ealanna's gift of pure common sense, Tom and Harry's neutralism, the peaceful, funloving Neelix, the witty Doctor - what more could you ask for in a television series? No wonder this show is so popular! This program hooked me like no other did. One episode and I was trapped like a fly in a spiderweb. Unfortunately it shows at midnight in my town, but that is no deterrent for myself and the thousands, if not millions, of hooked viewers who think this is the "real" greatest show on earth. When is the DVD edition going to immortalize this masterpiece? Someone smack Paramount upside the head so they can pull their heads out the wrong end and DVD the show that should have been a long, long time ago. Voyager rocks!!!
Rating: Summary: Nothing Tops Voyager! Review: One of these reviews talks about them picking up extra members on their way. After Tess leaves (after breaking her mental and physical boundries she cannot be contained in the ship any longer and in order to save the crew shoots herself into space) Voyager happens upon a part of space controlled by the infamous BORG! While one of the borg "helps" Voyager she becomes stranded on their ship. The doctor ends up removing her implants and the show covers her struggle to become an individual. They also - later - end up "rescueing" some misfit adolescent drones after they are stranded by the Gorg Collective. I have to say that this is the BEST Star Trek ever. I used to watch TNG all the time. I grew up on it and still watch the reruns sometimes. However, I don't miss a rerun of Voyager. It is on every night at 9 and I am there too. I became hooked on Voyager when I was stranded in the hospital in 2000 due to pregnancy. Unfortunately, I think the show was almost at an end if not already cancelled. However, I think I have now seen every episode through the reruns! I also wanted to say that my husband never EVER watched Star Trek, and he thought I was crazy. Then he started watching Voyager. Now he loves it! He always raves about it. His only desire is to see it from the beginning!!! As far as deep space nine goes, I may have seen 2 episodes of it and never really latched on to it. I was amazed it was big enough to hold in the DVD form for so long. I beg of (whoever) bring voyager to DVD!!
