Summary: Family Redefined!
Review: Simply the best show on televison. If you are one of the unfortunate ones who don't have HBO, here's your chance to see what all the hype is about for yourself. Tony Soprano and crew
are hilarious! Yes, Tony and his "family" are mobsters but they're likeable and Tony is almost a sympathetic figure. Paulie is by far the funniest of the bunch. Counting the days until season 4 starts, September 15th!

Summary: Its pretty freaking good. :)
Review: Just thought I'd put my two cents in. I'm a big fan of the series, I enjoyed the first season a bit better -- to be honest, however the second season is very well written and nearly as well executed as the first.

I think that people who degrade the ratings on here for superficial stuff like -- not receiving their order on time (what the hell does that have to do with the quality of the product?) or because someone gets bored with a single character in the show -- I say again, what's that got to do with the quality of the product?....anyway please don't review anything other than the product itself, its annoying.

4 out of 5 stars for a well-acted, very compelling and well executed (though not as great as season one's) storyline.

I will admit though -- I hope Chris' character developes more in season three (I only saw about 3 eps of Season 3 -- was busy buying a new home and going to school! LOL)..

Anyway...the Sopranos are the best series ever run on TV in my opinion (with Band of Brothers a VERY close second).

....I wonder if the fact that I live in Jersey and also am half Italian has anything to do with...;)

later.

Summary: Still The Best Show On TV
Review: The second season of "The Sopranos" is just as dynamic as the first. Life is still complicated for Tony, only more so these days. He's still got problems with his mother, problems with Uncle Junior, plus his older sister Janice has showed up and is rekindling a romance with Richie Aprile, Jackie's explosive older brother and Tony's new nemesis. Dr. Melfi, still scared from having to go on the lam last season, refuses to see him. And Big P. is acting funny. Things are about as usual.

Season two is infinitely more frustrating than season one. Tony's problems keep multiplying, stacking up one on top of the other. Nothing seems to get resolved, neatly or otherwise. As such, it's not quite as easy to watch. Yet, the show's quality has diminished not one iota. The writing is just as sharp, and the acting is quite simply superb. Lorraine Bracco's role as Melfi is expanded as we see her in therapy (Peter Bogdanovich is excellent as her therapist, Dr. Kupferberg), haggling over substance abuse issues and her conflictions over whether or not to treat Tony. Edie Falco continues to be perfect as Carmela, and James Gandolfini seethes inwardly as Tony, perhaps the most conflicted mobster we've ever watched. "The Sopranos" is unstoppable.

Summary: Takes off where Season One ends, and runs with the plot...
Review: I didn't think the second season could be as good as the first. I was wrong. From the very beginning, it takes off where the first season lets off and runs with the plot, deepening my understanding of the main characters, and adding a few new ones, such as Tony's sister, who at first seems like a New Age flake and then grows in complexity to have a major role in the plot.

Each of the characters face challenges, and how they deal with them are natural expressions of their personalities. Carmela's attraction to another man is an example of this. So are the delusions of grandeur of two of Christopher's sidekicks that eventually leads to violence. This keeps the story real and the people understandable, if not always sympathetic. Another new character, Ritchie, comes across as a cruel and sadistic bad guy. The fact that he's romancing Tony's sister complicates matters. Family is important too as Tony's mother is still on the scene. And his relationship with his wife and children are very real as well as complex. Even Tony's therapist starts showing cracks in her personality. And in a very fine acting job, one of the men Tony trusts becomes an informer.

The writing and cinematography are wonderful and the tension never lets up, resulting in a violent surprise in the next-to-last episode. It's all so good that I have to forgive the times when a few words of dialog were indistinct or the author resorts to dream and fantasy sequences to move the plot along. I couldn't stop watching it however, and think that DVDs are the best way to watch the series. This way, I don't have to wait a whole week to see the next episode. All I have to do is stay up late.

I recommend this second year series completely. It had a rough act to follow after the success of the first year. And it succeeded completely.

Summary: The Sopranos-Second Season
Review: I received my DVD Soprano set 2 weeks after I ordered it. I did not received a response for my purchase until 3 days later after I emailed them and the item was already shipped out without an option of rush delivery.
Upon receipt, I returned the set and now two weeks later, still not a word about my refund!
Very disappointed with the customer service although the package did arrive safely via regular mail.

Summary: Get over here!
Review: In a word BRILLIANT! This show is THE mob show of the decade. The writers express authenticity and humor all in the same breath. There are twists and turns all threw this season and after finishing this season and the first season I can't wait to see the next one. Great show with a lot of laughs!!!

Summary: Second Season Was Not The Best
Review: If you're a Soprano's fan, then you probably will want to go out and buy this DVD package. After all, you can have the show on a quality medium and in an organized fashion. If you're not a Soprano's fan, don't buy this series. Buy the first season. It was edgier, better written and generally more enjoyable. As person who has seen all three seasons, I'd definitely say the 1st season was best, followed by seasons 3 and 2. After watching season 1, you will then be able to tolerate season 2 which for some reason or another, the writers decided to torment loyal fans with. If it wasn't for season 3, I'd say that season 2 almost made this series "jump the shark."

The only question now is when will HBO finally air season 4 or have they even started shooting it yet?

Summary: A Justifiable Guilty Pleasure
Review: This is thirteen hours of TV watching that will be worth your while. Tony Soprano is what every American man would like to be, but knows he shouldn't be. The Sopranos is a highly addictive show because you never know when the next gun will go off. Puts almost everything else on TV to shame. Not for those with a weak stomach, but a great satire of American life in the post-Clinton fallout era.

Review: THIS VIDEO IS A MUST FOR THE SOPRANOS FAN. CANT WAIT FOR THIRD SEASON TO COME OUT....

Summary: Like the first season, this is a true winner!
Review: When I bought the collected first season, I watched it non-stop one weekend. This came out on a Tuesday and I was up late watching the second season and it was so good that I did the unthinkable: I called in sick on Wednesday and stayed home and finished watching the second season! I'd only seen an occasional episode of The Sopranos (the first one I saw was the kind of weak episode where they go to Naples -- where I happened to have served in the Navy...). The first season collection made a fan of me and my family got HBO just so we could watch the series. I got caught up with the second season and am now waiting week to week as the third season unfolds. Even though I'll have seen all of the third season's repeats, when that collection comes out I am going to buy it, too! These well-written, well-acted shows are great and prove that there is intelligent life out there in TV-land. This is just great through and through. Highly recommended (though I'd suggest trying to get a used copy to save some bucks). FIVE STARS and it earns every one of 'em!
