Rating: Summary: MIB: Money In the Bank Review: In what has to be the funniest science fiction film since Tim Burton's masterpiece Mars Attacks!, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones take up the roles of J and K (respectively), agents in America's first, best, and only line of defense from alien immigrants. But these aren't your typical South of the Border illegal aliens, and Smith and Jones are not your average border patrol. They are the Men In Black.Men In Black is a smart, funny, action-packed romp through alien immigration. In a world where aliens have slowly become part of society, a select group of persons unknown to the general populace (or even the US President) is charged with keeping the peace. One such man, Agent K (Jones), sees promise in a young New York detective (Smith) and invites him to try out for the elite force. Soon the new rookie, Agent J, is helping to defend the universe against a "bug" (a bad alien) who wants to steal the Galaxy. It's up to the MIB to find the bug and stop the destruction of Earth. In other words, another typical day at work. Men In Black is filled with conspiracy theory, tabloid journalism, and enough gadgets to make James Bond envious. Sadly, it doesn't devote nearly enough time to exploring the various aliens, which could certainly have given the movie even more laughs. Instead, most of the alien races are treated as incidental, with the attention focused on the humans. Aside from Smith and Jones, Linda Fiorentino gives a good supporting role as a coroner named Laurel. Although her character is secondary for most of the script, she becomes more important later. Undoubtedly, if there is a sequel, she will appear again. Also, Rip Torn appears as Zed, the head of the MIB. I loved Men In Black, and highly recommend it. Most of the aliens are fun, but one or two could scare younger children. Nevertheless, this is a great science fiction film and destined to be a classic.
Rating: Summary: Funny and creepy......just the way I like it! Review: Be prepared for an interesting collision: Monty Python meets The Sixth Sense! Because that's exactly what Men In Black is. It's chilling and funny at the same time. If you go for very creative cinematic combinations, like Gremlins, or American Beauty, you'll love Men In Black.
Rating: Summary: It's a bug-a-boo Review: Every one is so busy watching Tommy Lee Jones make his stoic looks and Will making one-liners that they miss the person that hold it all together. And that person has to do act throughout the movie in an Edgar suit. Have you ever tried one on? Vincent D'Onofrio has to look unnatural and act natural. This was one movie where I felt sorry for the bug. He even drops his snack (Linda Fiorentino) near the end. I just shows that bus lead a hard life. If you are into recent bug movies; look for "Out There" where they mention bugs in a rug.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, good story line, light, good soundtrack, fun Review: MIB was one of those movies you enjoy seeing. A total good feeling experience. Set in a different context but a realistic setting. Humans with aliens in a human world. Without most of us knowing what's going on. Lots of laughs, good sound track. A must see for all those who enjoy movies for just being what they are. Entertainment!
Rating: Summary: Great till the very end Review: This movie is all you've heard -- inventive, imaginative, and thoroughly enjoyable. At 90 minutes, it feels fairly short, and the final showdown (with only one alien) feels somewhat anticlimactic, but the film is still a fun, fresh twist on the 1950s gooey alien sagas. A box office blowout, the film was released in the midst of a brief resurgence of alien chic, released a year after Independence Day and Mars Attacks!, and just before Starship Troopers. It is interesting to note that 1996 brought the highly successful ID4 and the box office bomb Mars Attacks, while 1997 brought us the highly successful Men in Black and the bomb Starship Troopers, which didn't even get past the $100 M mark in the States. ID4 and MIB were more straight-laced films with elements of parody and humor, while Mars Attacks! and Starship Troopers were more intentional send-ups of their subject matter. Mars Attacks! went for a Mel Brooks-style spoof, while Starship Troopers (spoof or satire?) was similarly over the top. Apparently American audiences like their self-conscious irony lite. Or maybe they just like Will Smith. Either way, MIB never takes itself too seriously, while at the same time taking on legitimate issues (America's concern with immigration) in an imaginative way. Fun.
Rating: Summary: The film that really surprises Review: There are a number of difficult subjects in cinema, one of them being that of extra-terrestrial life. Like many pet subjects that appeal to a wide range of people, there is a danger of creating something which heads directly for the middle ground and leaves us with no sense of accomplishment: a bit like safe sex, in a way - safe cinema. So when a movie tackles a difficult subject in an original way, we are so much more pleased by the result, for having had so much trash run by us before. That's how I feel about "Men in Black," a film I resisted seeing for months if not years, before finally having to admit that it's a beauty in a class of its own. Of course there is a certain amount of mainstream Hollywood madness, but this is beautifully tempered by an interesting scenario and some highly credible acting. The special effects also tend to work because we are willing to accept the film's odd reality. I even found myself accepting, to my amazement, the creature at the end of the film - I had been able to buy what director Barry Sonnenfeld was selling. I won't say the film is that funny - it is not a classic comedy at all. Yet it has underlying currents of humour as well, and frankly, I think that adding up all the pluses gives a very solid (and surprising) score indeed.
Rating: Summary: Not for repeated viewings. Review: This is movie is good for only one or two views but after the third one it is really boring I have many movies which I've seen hundreds and hundreds of times but this one I don't know it looses the magic the score by Danny Elfman 1 of the 3 stars are for the score good visuals better rent it have a good time and give it back because after the third view it is really boring.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: Men in Black is one of the best movies of all time. It has very catchy lines that keep you entertained. Will Smith delivers a great job of acting. Tommy Lee Jones is always great. Linda Florentino is the funniest coroner I've ever seen in a movie. This is definitely my favorite comedy movie and I reccommend it to everyone
Rating: Summary: Unexpected turns Review: Men in Black is about the recruitment and training of a brash young police officer (Smith) who is mentored by an experienced agent (Jones) into life in an ultra-secret government agency that monitors the activities of extra-terrestrial aliens on Earth. The story line is intruiging, and the action is fast. Smith and Jones are a good match. I gave the video 4 stars because it felt like the movie lost touch with the story line and was taken over by special effects as we approached the climax at the end of the show. I was impressed by the computer animation, but I was unimpressed by the flavor the finale left me with when the movie was over. I think that a less is more approach to the finale would have suited me better. If you decide to watch this video you'll enjoy it more if you check your high expectations at the door.
Rating: Summary: My Synopsis: Review: Men In Black is a good film for a distraction. The score by Danny Elfman is ok. Plus the cartoon series is great. Now that I watch Men In Black, I find it boring. But still a good film.
