Summary: Prodding the brain...
Review: The Matrix is one of the most spectacular Sci Fi Movies of the 20th Century. Not totally originally, but it combines elements of so many previous Sci Fi flicks that it's more like a tribute to those previous stories. It may not be totally original, but the combination of aspects have never been more originally executed. The use of the wires during fight scenes and the rotating angles (bullet speed as they call it) give the movie a visual sense of a created world, something that is not real and can be manipulated. The movie takes place somewhere in the future, opening with a glimpse of the life of Neo (Reeves in a role he was most likely born to play), a computer programmer working for a large corporation who does hacker work in his off time. After being discovered for his illegal extracurricular activity, Neo is intercepted by a mysterious woman, Trinity (the striking Carrie-Anne Moss) who claims to know what or actually who, he is looking for; Morpheous, a charismatic mystery man played by Fishbourne, who gives a strong leader performance. Morpheous believes Neo is the coming messiah who will save mankind, but from what? That is where the question, 'What is the Matrix?' comes in. Explaining it takes a few different scenes and although it's a fairly simple concept, the motivations behind it all take a little more length in detail. As the questions unfold, Neo starts to realize his destiny and the action escalates as the movie moves on. The inclusion of high energy martial arts fighting scenes are so ingeniously integrated into the movie as well as other aspects of action, that you have to applaud the writers and directors. With this concept, you could put almost anything into this story line. To state anymore may ruin the plot but simply put, Matrix makes you wonder about your own world. The disturbing questions it brings to the surface make you question the validity of your own existence, and that is where the most frightening aspects of The Matrix lie. Part Science Fiction, part twilight zone, part action movie and part big-brother paranoia propaganda, The Matrix suggests that we should question everything around us and supplement our minds with things that are outside the realm of what we accept as everyday thinking. Packed with extra features for the DVD player as well as the DVD ROM for your PC, this is definitely worth the money. No one can be told what The Matrix is, you have to see it, so buy the DVD and see for yourself.

Summary: The greatest movie ever made!
Review: The Matrix is one of the most unbelievble movies ever. I just loved every minute of it. At first, when I saw it at the cinema I was saying to myself: "Man, I oughta get this movie on DVD once it gets out, it was just amazing!" And so I did, I got the DVD the day it went out. The sound is AMAZING! Especially on a new AC-3 system. My advice: GET IT NOW!

Summary: Star Wars Blows it Away!
Review: The Matrix is one of the worst films in a long time. The dry, lifeless plot matches the dry, lifeless characters. Don't waste your time on this film. It's one of the most irrelevent ,pointless movies ever made. Instead people should turn to any of the 4 Star Wars films , the true Sci-fi epic the Matrix will never be.

Summary: Make sure you keep the volume down!
Review: The Matrix is one of those films that make you ask your neighbor, "What do you think is going to happen next?" I avoided all previews of the movie, and thankfully, I was surprised right up to the end. The only problem I had with the movie, I recieved complaints from my upstairs neighbors about the volume during the 10 minute gun-fiesta scene! Fortunately, when I showed them the scene (at a decreased volume) they asked me to start the movie all over again!

Summary: The red pill or the blue pill?
Review: The Matrix is one of those great movies that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. There is out-of-this world action sequences, excellent story, and likable and hatable characters throughout. It tells the story of Neo(Keanu Reeves) who is searching for the meaning of the Matrix. A group of people who have been looking for him reveal the secrets of the Matrix much to his disbelief. I won't say much more because this movie needs to be seen to be understood. At times a little confusing, this is a truly great movie.

What everybody remembers about this movie is the action sequences which are truly great. The scene where Neo and Trinity enter the Agent's building is one of the best gunfights ever put on screen. Also, the performances in the movie are above average. Keanu Reeves is very good as Neo with Laurence Fishburne giving a great role as Morpheus, the mysterious leader. Carrie-Ann Moss is excellent as Trinity, the main female role in the movie. Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith steals the show as the character bent on destroying the others. The DVD is good, but not great. There are some good featurettes, a good documentary, and interesting commentary, but so much more could have been done with this great movie. For action fans everywhere, go watch this movie!

Summary: killer movie
Review: The Matrix is one of those movies that defines what DVD is all about - incredible action and sound, not to mention a pretty good story line and direction. The Matrix gets a spot in the home DVD library because you can watch it over and over.

Summary: A favourite of mine
Review: The Matrix is one of those movies that is either loved or despised. The story is a pretty ordinary tale of a person who is unaware that he is destined to save humanity. (Keanu Reeves is excellent as a man who is never quite sure what is going on.)

The setting is imaginative and well portrayed, although not groundbreaking. The special effects, however, most certainly are. The DVD contains a behind-the-scenes look at how those freeze 'em then spin 'em in the air scenes were created.

I'm still not completely sure why, but the combination of special effects and original setting goes to make this movie compulsive viewing.

Summary: Don't Forget To Take Your Red Pill
Review: The MATRIX is one of those movies that, based on the theatrical trailer, I didn't quite no what to think about the movie. I was intrigued enough to buy my ticket and see what it was all about. In the end, as almost everyone knows, the film turned out to be one of the provocative science fiction films ever produced. Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) is drawn into a new reality, where, nothing is as it seems. He is told by a being called Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne), that the real world is an illusion, and that the deception is being fostered by all powerfull machines, that control our true destiny, that we must now fight for, to reclaim.

The MATRIX is what I like to call, smart sci-fi, that doesn't "dumb down" its audience. Sure, there's plenty of action, and cool visuals, but all of this eye candy is backed up by an interesting premise. Written & Directed by the Wachowski Brothers, the film is a feast for the eyes and the mind, that will leave you wanting more. I can't wait for the second and third films in this trilogy to come out.

When I bought my first DVD player some 3 and a half years ago, the MATRIX, was among the first discs that I purchased. The disc is packed with extras. There's so much bonus material that it took me quite a bit of time to go through it all. It is one of the most comprehensive discs available. Aside from everything that you might expect, in the way of extras, there are "hidden" features as well. If that weren't enough, there's also a wealth of DVD-ROM content on this disc, for you to enjoy ***** stars
