Summary: Only the Beginning in an Incredible Saga
Review: I hardly ever venture out to the movie theatres anymore because of all the trash that's playing there now. I went to see The Fellowship of the Ring at my brother's insistance, and I was not disappointed! It was one of the most incredible movies that I have ever seen. I am amazed at what Peter Jackson (the director) was able to do with it. The trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien is a very dense read packed with tons of details. To be able to turn it into such a great movie is a real accomplishment! There are some differences between the book and the movie, but that is the case in almost every movie ever made after a book. It's very difficult to make everything exactly right and include every tiny detail. I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to own it. It is the tale of Frodo, his companions, and the ring of power created by the evil Lord Sauron. The Fellowship, a group of representatives from all the races of Middle Earth, is chosen to destroy the one ring so as to keep the evil of Sauron and Mordor, his land, from covering the world again. You as the viewer, journey with Frodo and his companions on their epic quest against evil to "the land of Mordor where the shadows lie." This is only the first movie, and I guarantee you that if you see it, you'll be begging for the next one. (So go see the Two Towers- it's in theatres now...) Buy the Fellowship of the Ring! You'll watch it over and over and over again, and never tire of it!

Summary: the lord of the rings the fellowship of the ring
Review: I loved this movie along with the Two Towers. I read the books also the Hobbit and now I'm rereading them. I love how they did the special effects. Most of the people in my family don't understand it but I do and I think that it is great that someone was able to make this movie and keep it pretty close to the books. I think that the extra discs are great to you can see how much work was put into it and that it is great that they can show you what they did behind the scenes and what it took to make the movie possible. I can't wait to see the return of the king. I hope it is as good as the first two.

Summary: Not what I was expecting
Review: I did not realize before I bought this DVD set that it did not have the extended scenes..like allot of peple here. I reccomend buying the 4 disc LOTR FOTR extended edition DVD set instead because watching the extended edition is like a whole new film. This DVD here has some good special features, but they are mostly fillers and not very in-depth. My original disc was damaged and I had to send it back because some of the special features would not play. It is really not worth it for me to buy this one, but if you are only into the movie partially and not a die hard fanatic, this might be enough for you. I hope that this review gets posted to the 2 disc LOTR FOTR widescreen edition DVD set, because I have tried so many times in the past to review it, only to have the review pasted on the 4 disc set instead. There are endless amounts of costume re-creation photo galleries available on the 4 disc extended edition but this disc set has only some behind the scenes special features. If you are into costume re-creation like I am, you would be better off gettting the other DVD set. The sound quality was very poor on this DVD, and I was very surprised, the sound wuality on the 4 disc set is amazing. Much better than this one.

Summary: The book ends break too easily
Review: The bookends break in to a million pieces and are hard to put back in place. Don't use them as bookends. Place them down low and towards toward the back of a shelf. The paint chips too. I love the DVD.

Summary: Just great
Review: The Lord of the Rings-The Fellowship of the Ring The Extended Edition is just great. With new footage that was editted into the movie, something that is totally different when coming to detelted schenes, that are normally cut and pasted together in a different secion of a DVD which is outside of the movie.

I haven't got into the extras that are on the two other discs, but from the bookage that I have seen that comes with the DVD set, there is a lot of extras that you can go through.

Summary: AWESOME!
Review: I saw the movie and was amazed. Then I bought this DVD and it got better. Excellent movie overall and the DVD has tons of features. Two disks with extended scenes give you things you never saw in the theaters. Dolby Digital 5.1 allows me to use my home theater system like never before! In addition to the appendicies, you can also look around for two easter eggs...hehehe

bottom line: awesome movie, awesome set of disks...click the buy button already!!

Summary: Long and boring
Review: Being a big fan of sword and sorcery movies I eagerly anticipated the release of this film. Unfortunately this film is so long and boring it has difficulty keeping the viewers interest. The film has high production standards and is well shot, but unless you are into the book series its a waste of time.

Summary: The Fellowship can not be broke.
Review: The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring is one of the best movies of the century and to tell you the truth I fell asleep the first time I saw it because it starts out slow and to some boring but wait until the Hobbits (Frodo,Sam,Mary, and Pippen)leave the Shire (where the Hobbits live) and they meet Strider-Arragon (Vigo Morrtinson)and start their trip to Mordor to destroy the ring. When the action really begins is when they go to Rivendel (where the elves live) and that is when the fellowship is made. The fellowship has 1 wizard,4 hobbits,2 human men,1 dworf, and 1 elf.Legolas is the elf who like all elves is talented when it comes to the bow and arrow.Gimley is the dworf who is swift with an axe and is very small.Boremiere is 1 of the men who is good with a sword and shield.Arragon-Strider is the other man who is good with a sword and the bow and arrow.Gandolf is the wizard who is the only one who knows the way to Mordor.Mary and Pippen are the hungry hobbits that always mess up but will do anything to help the fellowship.Sam is the scared hobbit that is best friends with Frodo.Frodo is the main charecter who holds the ring and will do anything to destroy the ring. This is a long movie that may get slow at parts but it is worth it but if you want an all out action movie with pretty much no slow parts, that is The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers.Even if your not intrested in buying the special edition see this movie. You won't regret it.

Summary: If you loved the books don't waste your time with the movie
Review: Once agin the old addage "The book is always better than the movie." is proved here. Very little was as it should be. I could not watch this movie a second time. Peter should be ashamed at what he did to Mr Tolkien's wonderful story. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I saw this movie. Jackson seemed more interested in highlighting his special effects abillities than telling the story as it should be told. I will live in Middle Earth in my imagination thanks to Mr Tolkien not jackson.
