Summary: lord of the rings: the fellowship of the ring
Review: I thought that it was the best movie that I have gone to see in
some time. And I have seen it at least 3 times and will see it as
many times as I can before they take it out of the theater. And I do have my name on the list for getting the movie on video when it comes out.

Summary: Just as good the 4th time
Review: I've seen Lord of the Rings four times now and it's still a wonderful movie. For the first time I actually had a lot of feeling for the characters in a movie. I could actually feel the love Frodo has for the Shire as well as the friendship between all the hobbits especially Frodo and Sam. This movie was wonderfully written and portrayed.

Summary: Movie Magic.
Review: What going to the movies, is all about.A mouth agape film. The kind of spectical that cinema was invented for.I'ts just not only a secial effects extraviganzer, and action flick. The scrpit is top notch and the suspence and wonder, build up , from the very first frame.

This DVD is a must , for consumers young and old.Three hour's of sheer pleasure that goes all to quickly.

I can't wait for the 4 disc version with an extra half hour of
scenes cut from the film.I'll still be purchasing this early edition too.Brill.

Summary: Perplexed
Review: How anyone in their right mind could think that a movie is capable of recreating the written word 100% is beyond me. A book, by the very nature of it's medium, can delve into detail far more exponentially than a movie can ever hope to accomplish. Yes, even a grand epic such as this movie, "The Fellowship of the Ring." So to compare the movie to the book on the level of equating the two is, in my opinion, non sensical.

What we do have here is a movie of breathtaking proportion. The story moves along at a good pace. The scenary is amazing. The special effects are done quite well considering they're not done by ILM. Let's be honest folks. Peter Jackson, the director, has remained true to the overall feel and the overall story of the book. The opening sequence alone should speak volumes to the fact that he loves this story. He is a Tolkein fan...

Go see this movie. You will be thoroughly entertained. That, after all, is what we go to the movies for. Enjoy.

Summary: Well beyond expectation
Review: First of all, I have been reading the trilogy every year for the last 20.

I must say that while I am disapointed that some scenes were cut, it was necessary in order to "squeeze" it into 3 hours. Overall, this adaptation was far better than I had dared to hope when I heard it was being made a film. The acting, while maybe not of Oscar caliber, was strong enough no to get lost in the panorama of a land that can only be Middle Earth, and special effects that must be complimented as well.

I must also apologize to Liv Tyler. When I heard that she was cast as Arwen, I thought, Oh no, another Armageddon type performance. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised by the gravitas which she brought to the role, and now look forward to seeing her in the upcoming films.

Lastly, some of the nitpicking I noticed earlier...
1 - The hobbits and Aragorn being next to Old Man Willow (That is the name Tom Bombadil gives the tree that tries to eat the hobbits) - No. They are actually camped among the Trolls which were turned to stone in The Hobbit when the sun light struck them.

2 - The tear on Frodo's cheek - Who cares? In Gladiator, before he announces himself, Juba calls Maximus by his name during the "Battle of Carthage" re-enactment in the Coloseum. Continuity errors are a fact of life in the world of cinema.

Those were the 2 major points I noticed. And if you found so many flaws, why did you rate the movie 5 stars?

That's about it. Took too long anyway...

Summary: Timeless
Review: Friendship, loyalty, courage, love, forgiveness, compassion, heroism, frailty, fear, mourning, hope. Tolkien eloquently expressed all of this in his timeless story. And Peter Jackson captured - what I had always believed to be impossible - with perfection.

I had re-read the trilogy just before FOTR released. Yes, Tom Bombadil was cut. Yes, Arwen's part was expanded. But these changes did not change the intensity [one whit] with which the more memorable events are experienced.

This movie is visually stunning. The attention to detail is astonishing - all the way down to the Elven runes carved into the blades of a sword and the hand-tooling of the leather garments. Elrond's golden armor is beyond expression, not to mention Rivendell.

It is quite evident that the actors put their soul into this movie and their efforts are fully realized on the screen. For this I am truly appreciative. Peter Jackson and company took my most beloved story and made it breathe.

I have seen this movie 3 times and will most likely see it a few more before the DVD releases (rumour has it sometime in May). I will then hold my breath until The Two Towers releases in December.

Summary: the best movie adaptation of a book that I've seen
Review: I was thrilled back in 1999 when I first heard that someone was going to do a Lord of the Rings live action film trilogy. When I finally saw it in December 2001, I was NOT disappointed. The imagination and the power of the story and the settings were all brought out in full force. The costumes, props, and everything else was original, not campy or borrowed off of Conan the Barbarian. Especially in the beginning while watching this film on the big screen I could FEEL like I was visiting Middle Earth and seeing all these characters that I merely read about before. The screenwriters were very good in knowing what to cut out and what to leave in, because while I hear complaints that this part 1 movie was three hours long, as someone who has read that first book if could have been a lot longer! The only things that were changed did not really do any detriment to the original story, unlike some other movie adaptations I have seen. Be warned though, this is not necessarily a kid's movie. There are many things that are, for lack of a better word, shocking in the fantastical sense. I was surprised at how many parents brought small children to see this movie on the big screen. Nevertheless, this is a must-see just for the (Oscar winning) visuals by themselves.

Summary: The Greatest Movie yet made!
Review: I read the books a week before the teaser trailer was realesed. They were very good books, but I had to wait another 8 months to see them come to life.

The movie was great! They cut out all the borring parts from
the books and added more action scenes. The casting, props, and setting were great.

It started with an accurate prologue and ended with an awesome battle scene. This is a must see film!
