Summary: Well worth the money!
Review: Picked up my copy from FYE in the local mall for a great price and I haven't seen a lower price since.

First of all, yes, the packaging is a bit cumbersome, but big deal.

Secondly, after seeing the extended work print of Alien 3, that film has become my favorite of the tetralogy. Upon its initial theatrical release, I was highly disappointed (except for the music) but I am now convinced that David Fincher was way ahead of his time and we are all now just catching up. For my money, the Alien 3 discs make the set.

Thirdly, I'm still not all the way through this thing! I've had it for a week and there's still a lot of content to look forward to. Viewing this set has become something of a hobby.

Finally, any person remotely interested in filmmaking must buy this set as it offers a very good look at the trials and tribulations a great many people endure before we as an audience buy our tickets.

Summary: A great addition to the Alien Legacy
Review: I am really glad that I bought this dvd set. I am also glad that Amazon sold it for $30 less than the retail stores. It is loaded with interviews by the creaters of the films and gives Alien fans insight into the creative process.

The best part of the set is Alien 3 special edition--I was not disappointed. Fans have been anticipating this release for a long time. Seeing the special edition enhances the characters and completes the tale the the director David Fincher tried to tell. It is a shame that the "suits" at Fox got scared and butchered his original vision.

I highly recommend this boxed set to any Alien movie or science fiction fan.

Summary: A Must Have For Your DVD Collection!
Review: I kept my eye on this box set untill the day it was released. Now that I have it I would have to say im glad that I spent the money on it. There is a ton of good things I would write about it so im only going to put down the negitive comments which are few. Really the only thing I didnt like was that in the Alien 3 Special Eddition, which I was very interested in watching because of how much they added to it, the sound for the special eddition parts couldnt be recoverd. Still overall the movie is great to watch even with that downfall. The only other bad thing about it was it wouldnt fit on my table cause the dvd box set opens to 5 feet! lol. All in all, if you liked the movies even if you thought some were way better than others, its still worth getting.

Summary: Borders got my money
Review: Picked my copy up at Borders last night and I paid about $16 more. Dooope! Watched ALIEN Director's cut last night. Given that Ridley Scott goes out of his way in print and on screen to say that he liked the theatrical release just fine but he added the deleted scenes and fixed some stuff at the request of the studio moguls so they could package these movies and take my money once again, the added scences add nothing and to this reviewer make the movie more disjointed and the "remaster" disappointing. This is and was a great movie but...it doesn't hold up as well under scrutiny as it did in it's first run in '79(?). Opening scene, the ship shakes on my 60" screen. How did Dallas and Lambert get Kane back to the ship after getting face hugged? Why do they look for the chest buster alien for about 30 seconds before shooting Kane out into space wrapped up like a mummy and then go back and regroup and look for him some more? What do Alien's eat to grow to full size in a few hours? Why does it rain in the ship? Why do they need bottles of coolant B4 they can get on the shuttle/lifeboat? Do you really need coolant in space in an absolute vacuum? Wouldn't the lifeboat already have whatever they needed on it? Why do all 4 self destruct control rods go down when Rippley is trying to stop the self destruct and then we see at least one of them back up and her pushing the button inside of it?

The best Alien movie is not a movie at all. It was the book by Alan Dean Foster. None of the problems of the movie. Both are still great. I can't wait to watch ALIENS tonight. Buy the Quadrilogy here or used, don't go to Borders and pay to much, also the packaging stinks. It's like a slinky. And remember, "In space, no one can hear you scream...after finding out you paid too much."

Summary: Alien Quadrilogy
Review: The Alien Quadrilogy is the best box set in stores today! It may be $70.00, but it sells $30 less than the Alien Legacy and the Quadrilogy has 5 times as much stuff! This box set goes deep into a lot of detail for each movie. You have spend a whole week to watch everything!

Alien is the first movie in the series. Alien has the original theatrical version and a director's cut. Alien also has tons of bonus features to watch also. The movie is my third favorite movie in the saga. Alien was the most suspenseful movie, but had the least action.
Movie Overall Grade: 91% A
Beginning:20/25
Plot:24/25
Ending:22/25
Features:25/25

Aliens is the second movie in the saga. James Cameron did an excellant job on this action-packed movie. The one drawback is that it is way too long. The beginning could have been shorter . The end is great and the Queen Alien is awesome! Overall, it's my fourth favorite. I would like to see the the original Aliens. This is the first time it's out on DVD, I'm not talking about Special Edition all you know-it-alls that say you've had it for years.
Movie Overall Grade: 90% A-
Beginning:15/25
Plot:20/25
Ending:25/25
Features:22/25
Bonus: +8 for Queen Alien

Alien 3 is probably the least favorite overall. It is my favorite anyway. I'm really looking forward to watchin the director's cut. It will cover up the plot holes and some fans are liking the movie better. This movie has both action and suspense. Not as much suspense as Alien or as much action as Resurrection, but is still really good. This is first on my list in the Alien saga.
Movie Overall Grade: 104% A+
Beginning:23/25
Plot:25/25
Ending:25/25
Features:21/25
Bonus: +10 for great scenes and affects

Alien Resurrection is the final chapter in the Quadrilogy. Alien Resurrection has a Special Edition with 8 extra minutes and a different ending. The movie was good and the first half of the movie could have been shorter. The underwater scene was the best part of the movie. The movie was fun and had a lot of action. It is my second favorite in the saga.
Movie Overall Grade: 97% A
Beginning:22/25
Plot:25/25
Ending:24/25
Features:20/25
Bonus: +6 For Underwater Scene

Summary: Ultimate Alien Collection
Review: Well after reading the comments about Alien the Directors Cut in DTS I decided to play the DVD last night, I wanted to wait till around Christmas but a couple of people had stated that this DVD with the parameters I mentioned above locked on them during playback. There was also a South African gentlemen that wanted to see if this was true. Well I have a Panasonic RP-91 and it played Alien Disc 1 Directors Cut DTS with no problems. I recently sold my Alien Legacy set to purchase this one and received mine from Amazon on it's release date. The packaging is nowhere near as bad as others are complaining about, it is actually very similiar to the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions. Grant LOR may have slightly thicker cardboard but the DVD storage areas are the same. It is a little cumbersome to open the entire collection so I have been opening a half at a time which makes it about as long as Lord of the Rings Extended edition DVDs. I have only viewed Alien thus far as per my comments above but the picture quality is awesome. I mean it looks like a new movie and the quality is very close to Lord of the Rings, remember we are talking about a movie that is almost 25 years old! The DTS track really added space and depth to the sound track and FX effects. The spoken audio was only slightly better than the Legacy 5.1 track but the music and FX were a night and day difference from the Legacy audio track. I own over 500 DVDs and I would say hands down this is the best box set I own surpassing the likes of Band of Brothers, Scarface, ET, Spiderman, Die Hard Trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Godfather, Indiana Jones, etc... All of the above that I just mentioned I own as well.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: This is the Ultimate DVD box set for any Alien or Sci-fi fan. The movie quality is supurb and the bonus features offer wonderful insight, literally hours of extras.
Alien and Aliens were the best of the series, very scary not just shock and awe but also psycologically disturbing. Alien 3 and Alien Ressurection are weaker but still very entertaining.
This is a must have. Just don't see them alone in the dark!

Review: Picked this up at Target. It is well-worth the nearly $80 it cost. Fully loaded doesn't begin to describe it. If you pass this up, you are a sorry SOB :)

Summary: In the video store, everyone can hear you scream
Review: To help celebrate the big-screen re-release of Alien (a special director's cut), Fox home video has unleashed an unprecedented "Quadrilogy" set of all four Alien films, spanning the years 1979 - 1997). Just in time for the Holidays, too.

If you are from another planet and haven't seen Ridley Scott's Alien (1979) yet, here's the gist: the Nostromo crew lands on a far-flung planet in deep space to investigate a mysterious transmission emanating from its bowels. While on the alien planet, one of the crewmembers is attacked by a spider-like creature that adheres itself to his face. He is taken back to the Nostromo, where it is learned -- too late -- that the creepy critter has laid an egg into his body. Like all incubating eggs, it waits only to hatch... and it turns out to be anything but over-easy as it stalks the crew, picked them off one-by-one in the hollow, dark, shadowy and cyberpunky floating vacuum of the Nostromo. Where no one's screams are heard. That is, until the sequels were made.
