Summary: Widescreen transfer has errors to it!
Review: P>Universal has acknowledged that disks 2 & 3 of the WIDESCREEN ONLY version of the BTTF movie has problems. The problem is that many of the frames have been transferred incorrectly, causing cut-off's in frames where there shouldn't be. This makes the film look very ugly. Universal has said that they are going to repress disks 2 & 3 and this will become part of the new boxed sets in February of '03.

If you have already purchased this item, you can return the disks to Universal

Once the new disks 2 & 3 are repressed, they will send them to you in the mail.P>Hope this helps. I'm very disappointed...

Summary: Buyer Beware!!!!
Review: I say this because I think the public needs to know, there is a problem on part2,3 they are missmatted wich means they cut off some special fx shots. The problem is being resolved, but it won't be until at least Feb.2003.So you may want to hold off buying for awhile.I own them and they are great film's,but I have to send parts2,3 back in Feb. and will receive them back who know's when. For more info search Back to the Future on the web.

Summary: Widescreen edition is mis-framed but a great collection.
Review: I'm giving this DVD boxset 4 stars instead of 5 because Universal incorrectly framed parts 2 & 3. Which very few people who purchased this may already know. Just look at the message board at bttf.com. That topic is all over the place. When they framed the widescreen DVDs Universal incorrectly framed them. The jacket scene in part 2 shows Marty's jacket cut off the bottom and more unimportant stuff on the top. There are also some other stuff that got cut off the bottom during parts 2 & 3 with unimportant stuff on top. Although the problem is minor and unnoticeable to most viewers but these aren't the movies the directors intended. But those who already purchased the widescreen can call an 800 number and send the DVDs back to Universal for an exchange in February. Check bttf.com's message board for details. My advice is to wait until after February 2003 when the new repressed DVDs hit the market. I want everyone to be aware of this issue. Please let me know when and where the corrected DVDs hit the market.

Summary: BEWARE OF THE FALSE WIDESCREEN RELEASE!
Review: Universal Home Video has admitted that they mistakenly matted the Pan & Scan version of Back to the Future 2 & 3 to look widescreen. A corrected version is in the works and will be released sometime in February 2003. Customers are instructed to return the DVD Discs ONLY, keep the case, to Universal Home Video for a replacement copy!

Summary: Back to the Future=Greatness
Review: This DVD is packed with great features and wonderful picture and sound. If you thought that Doc Brown and the infamous Dolorian couldn't get any better, you were wrong for this pack of DVD's is the best thing I've ever bought and I guarantee it will be for you as well!

Summary: Back to the Future Widescreen Problem
Review: Buyer Beware: I bought the widescreen version of the trilogy when it came out. The BTTF 2 and 3 discs both have problems w/ being misframed. After returning it for another set I encountered the same problem. I called the store I purchased it from and they were not aware of any problems. Then I contacted Universal and was told that there is a problem w/ the widescreen version and a corrected version of the disc will be released sometime in February. If I wanted a corrected copy I would have to pay the shipping and handling for the discs because they screwed up. Great company backing their product. They said that the problem is w/ all widescreen discs not full frame. Beware of this problem, seems Universal wants all the money now for Christmas then they will admit to this problem after everyone has bought a defective product.

Summary: Butchered by Universal!
Review: Caution!!! Parts 2 & 3 are misframed! Universal is issuing a new version in late Feb. If you have already purchased the set, call Universal at (888) 703-0010. They will give you the details over the phone. Personally I am disgusted that Universal would misframe these movies, and hope that no one would notice. In the future I am going to wait before I purchase any Universal DVD, mishandling the beloved Back to the Future franchise is no way to stay in the good graces of DVD fans.

Shame!

Summary: Formatting on 2nd and 3rd discs are faulty -- buyer beware
Review: My one star rating is not an indication of the quality of the films (the merits of all 3 movies stand on their own) and the chance to have the BTTF Trilogy in one nice package is certainly a great idea. Unfortunately Universal, when creating the transfers for the 2nd and 3rd movies, managed to improperly matte the films. This means that the image area you are seeing is NOT the theatrical release. These problems have existed since the R2 versions were released 6 months ago, but Universal decided they didn't want a new transfer process to interfere with their Q4 Holiday profits and are banking on the fact that most people won't notice the problem or won't care even if they do. If you have the current DVDs you will be able to have them replaced. You can call Universal at 888-703-0010 for information on the replacement process. (New DVDs won't arrive until late February. Thanks, Universal!) This is a poor showing by a studio who once produced quality DVDs.

Summary: Great Fun Trilogy.
Review: This is what movies should be all about; great actors, funny, clean dialogue, lots of action, simple yet challenging plot and never being offensive. This trilogy is perfect for the younger and the older crowd. I wish I had a car like that........

Summary: An inferior release
Review: Is there no quality control at Universal? Like many others who bought this box set immediately after it was released, I was very disappointed to find out (after it was released) that there were misframed shots in the widescreen editions of Parts II and III. I've never come across this problem with any other major studio release before, and it's quite disappointing to see a major DVD release such as this one suffering from this problem. Very disappointing - Buyer beware.. wait for the new presses coming out in February, or risk wasting your money.
