Summary: Groovy
Review: Great fun for adults and children alike. This cartoon was a hoot. One the adults will want to watch over again with the family (unlike some other children's fare!) David Spade is just great as the Emperor. As a matter of fact, all the acting (voices) are above average. (If you have a DVD disc drive, the game it comes with is pretty entertaining too!)

Summary: You Don¿t need to be Emperor to Dig this new Groove!
Review: Movie Summary: Teenage Aztec Emperor Kuzco is a spoiled brat. He fires his sorceress advisor who takes it very badly. She tries to kill him but ends up turning him into a llama instead. On his own as a llama, Kuzco has only one chance for help, Pacha the man he just told he was turning his village into a swimming pool. Pacha and Kuzco have many adventures on their way back to the palace. In the end, Kuzco learns what it means to be a good person.

My Opinion: This movie was a ton of fun! Our entire family loved it. It was light and funny and had a decent moral. It never got too silly or too serious. I loved how the characters made fun of a couple of the plot holes. We loved all the characters especially Kronk. He was really funny. Even though he was working for the evil Yzma you couldn't help loving him. He was never mean. He just happened to be on the wrong side. This is a great movie and DVD and should be part of your Disney collection.

DVD Quality: Widescreen anamorphic, DD 5.1 plenty of fun extras. This is a very high quality DVD.

What You Should Do: Get it. This is an excellent Disney DVD. The kids will watch it over and over.

Summary: Fun Movie - Disappointing Extras
Review: The movie was enjoyable and fun, even if it was a little on the light side. I was disappointed in the extras on the second disc, however. There's really not too much there, and given that the movie on disc one is short (under 80 minutes, I believe), there really should have been no problem fitting all of the second disc extras on disc one. As it stands, the bonus material pales in comparison to other Disney multi-disc sets, such as A Bug's Life, Tarzan, Toy Story and Fantasia. Unless you absolutely have to have the paltry extras, save your money and pick up the single disc edition.

Summary: Good Movie But...
Review: I bought the dvd, I started playing it. The audio started skipping in the scene where Kronk goes after the fly. That whole chapter the audio was not good. There were many differnet scenes where the sound was skipping like. I could not watch the whole movie. I returned it for a new one, the exact same problems at the same places. I went back and got a credit at the store in a different state, where I live (that is where I bought it). I then went to Blockbuster to rent it, in the state where I live. The same exact problems in the same places. I still have yet to see the whole thing. Has anyone else had these issues???

Summary: The Funniest Movie Disney ever Made
Review: As an animator and cartoon lover I was surprised at this movie that Disney tried to hide from us. My wife and I were the only attendees in an empty theatre when this movie came out and we hadn't laughed this hard since our last viewing of Monty Python's Holy Grail. I'm not kidding, this movie has THAT kind of great humor! Yes, I know! From Disney animation! The character design in this movie is amazing, all those character's fingers are angular and appealing. The llama, Pacha, Krunk and the bad lady are superbly animated with clear but subtle acting and snappy well paced movements. My wife and I are expecting our first child and I can't wait to put this movie on 24 hour continual play (God, please don't let my kid fall in love with the animated Hunchback!). Buy this DVD! Buy this DVD! You'll thank me for it later.

Summary: Good silly fun
Review: "The Emperor's New Groove," an animated musical, takes place in the pre-Columbian Americas. David Spade voices Kuzco, an Inca emperor who is transformed into a talking llama thanks to the scheming court sorceress, Yzma (Eartha Kitt) and her lumbering assistant (Patrick Warburton). In his quest to regain his humanity, Kuzco teams up with a loveable peasant (John Goodman).

After so many "serious" animated musicals with "politically correct" trappings ("Pocohontas," "Mulan," etc.), "Groove" is an irreverent, goofy breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong--I loved those more earnest animated epics. But "Groove" is pure fun.

The film's humor is much enhanced by the excellent vocal performances. Spade does brilliant work as the sarcastic, self-absorbed Kuzco; his terrific vocal chemistry with Goodman makes this a delightful "buddy" film. The slapstick antics of the film are a fun throwback to classic "Bugs Bunny"/"Roadrunner"-style animated humor. And the witty dialogue well complements the wild visuals. Particularly fun are the scenes where Kuzco breaks out of the confines of the film and directly addresses the audience.

As silly as the film is, there is a gentle moral to the film (as exemplified by Kuzco's character arc). Overall, "Groove" is an entertaining film that should delight both adults and children.

Summary: Disney meets Warner Brothers
Review: Rumor has it that Disney had originally planned a typical Disney epic movie with gorgeous scenery and marvalous characters and a grand story. They got as far as the gorgeous scenery and the idea was (thankfully imho) scrapped. So they decided to use the lovely scenery and had a bit of fun.

The result is a highly amusing film with a little bit of a moral (the not being selfish thing for Kusco) and a lot of slapstick comedy.

I highly recommend this film. Suitable for children while still entertaining the adults.

Of course, we never do find out why the villainess had that switch!

Summary: Funny, funny, funny!
Review: Yes...I said funny, funny, funny, funny and all about fun! Now who doesn't need that now and then. This movie was simple, beautiful in it's delivery...and Disney doesn't make enough of these. Finally a Disney movie I can watch without waiting for somebody parent to die off and make us all leave the movie feeling all serious. "Yeah, it was a great movie...but oh when Mufasa died (Lion King) that was so sad, but oh when Bambi's mom died, that was so sad, but oh when they found Tarzan's parents dead...Enough of that...it's time to groove with the emperor! I think a sequal is in order here. But also more original material like it. Bravo Disney...keep these movies coming!

Summary: Boom, Baby!
Review: Something wonderful happend in the realm of "Disney Classics". It was once educational and emotional disguised as fun and good time. This classic is fun not disguised as anything. Altough it lost every recognition as a beautiful and wonderful and magical Disney creation, its not to be passed over. I bet in every story writing crew for their films, they have the ones who are the joke-makers and funny-doers. This time, not only they've gone crazy... they were the only ones who showed up for the meetings. This is the funniest Disney movie ever. And as usual, the animation is eye-poping, the voices are a delight to the ears and the feeling goes right for your heart.

Not to be missed...A pleasure in every frame.
