Rating: Summary: ack! I can't think of a title! Review: okee first of all i *LOVED* this movie. the computer animation was the best I've ever seen. The plot was ok (but hey im a big romance person) and the acting was good. Josh hartnett amazingly stole scenes from Ben affleck. (I think he is hotter too!)I wish cuba gooding jr had more air time though. and.... someone said that the two guys shooting down the planes was very unrealalistic (sp)....there was two guys and they shot down nine in thier tuxedo bottoms. muhahahahaha and at least it was better than tora tora tora!
Rating: Summary: Definitely ignore the critics. Review: The film is not a documentary on Pearl Harbor. Instead, it is a story of love and friendship set during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Actions, beliefs, and lifestyles all reflect the era and the historical information. Veterans shared their stories to help everyone involved with the movie understand the emotion and occurrences of that day. I loved this movie because I realized that. I went in expecting to see a love story and a tragedy. I also did get a better idea of what happened that day, from both sides of the attack. Men and women died protecting our country and I felt that this movie did honor them and increased the awareness about the even that sent us into WWII. There wasn't a dry eye in the theatre and this included some manly men. The emotions you feel in regards to not only the romance, but the attack as well are unbelievably powerful. On top of that, the acting was amazing!
Rating: Summary: great overall Review: Yes the love story was a little sappy but the critics were exaggerating when they said it damaged the entire movie. Here are some of my grades FDR:A+ Doolittle:A+ music:A+ war scenes:A+ humor:A+ overall dialouge:A- love story:B- Shouldn't that be reason enough to think that it's a good movie?
Rating: Summary: What is all the flack about!?! This is a GOOD film. Review: I don't know why the critics are tearing this apart??? Granted that it steals the idea from "Titanic," a true tragedy spliced into a love story. Granted that is has some of the cheesiest lines that you'll ever hear. Still, the love story, albeit not great, is okay/decent, and the development of the movie was good. The actual attack on Pearl Harbor, however, followed by the raid at the end of the film, were spectacular!!! The movie is worth seeing just for that alone! The critics don't know what they're talking about. Although this film will not go down as one of the true greats, it is most definitely worth the $....
Rating: Summary: excellent movie Review: I think that this was the best movie I have ever seen. Granted the love story was a bit much but I thought that it was still realistic. Also the love triangle thing reminded me of Titanic and I didn't care for it then either. Other than that I thought that it was an excellent movie and the book is really good. I was really pleased that the directors and producers kept the film like the book was written. I can't wait until I can buy the film.
Rating: Summary: Pearl Harbor Review Review: This was the best movie I have ever seen in my entire life!
Rating: Summary: The Japanese weren't the only ones with a BOMB Review: This movie stinks from start to finish, from it's implausible story line to its almost endless procession of errors. The first part of the movie drags badly. The attack on Pearl Harbor looks like a video game, and actually occupies a minor part in the movie. Disney said it wasn't supposed to be a documetary, but it doesn't even try to get things right. I'm really surprised that we didn't win it!
Rating: Summary: A big letdown. Review: I walked into "Pearl Harbor" with pretty low expectations and walked out thinking, "that was just what I expected". "Pearl Harbor" is nothing special. It's just a love story with the attack on Pearl Harbor as a backdrop. To start with, "Pearl Harbor" is far too long and it just doesn't have what it takes to maintain interest the whole way through. This is just one aspect that really lets it down. Another aspect is the cardboard characters. The characters are so uninteresting that you don't feel any sympathy for them and you don't really care about them. I was also unimpressed with the movie's script. I did however get a giggle out of the sheer stupidity with some of the lines such as "I've given my heart to Danny. But I don't think I'll ever look at another sunset without thinking of you". Give me a break. How did a line like that get through? "Pearl Harbor" is a war movie at times and then at other times it's a love story. The movie is greatly let down by these two genres being mixed together. There were even times when I felt that the movie had a bit of a romantic comedy feel to it. These scenes, and others, attempt to add a bit of comic relief, but they don't work because these types of scenes have no place in a movie like this. There are however, some good points in "Pearl Harbor". It was good visually from the sets and the scenery, but I thought the strongest point was the soundtrack, which was very good. I'm not sure how the makers of "Pearl Harbor" wanted us to feel after watching it. Did they want us to feel sympathy for the cardboard characters? Did they want to give us a history lesson and have us walk out feeling that we'd learned something? If any of these things are what the makers intended, they didn't succeed. I don't know too much about the attack on Pearl Harbor, but I have read that the movie doesn't give us a very accurate history lesson. The impression that I got was that it's just another movie showing off with millions of dollars worth of special effects of how realistic it can look when people get shot and blown up. "Pearl Harbor" is just another example of how bad movies are getting. Most movies these days just have their strengths in special effects, impressive camerawork and big budgets and nothing else. For a movie to be successful, it has to have strengths in all aspects such as characters, story line and atmosphere. "Pearl Harbor" is just pathetic in these areas. To sum it up, "Pearl Harbor" is a big letdown. It was eagerly awaited, but turned out to be a big disappointment.
Rating: Summary: At best one of the worst movies ever made. Review: All I can say is thnk god that Disney dosen't write history books. I won't bore you with all of the historical inaccuracies but there are a lot. Disney seems to think that just because a movie is around three hours long and sentimental that is going to be good. In fact this movie would probabally only been about a half hour shorter if it were not for the emotional good byes and hellos that littered the movie from start to finish. One of it's major problems is that the film does not know what it wants to be, an accurate depiction of history, a sweeping love story, an action flick, or a live-action Norman Rockwell painting. The result is a sentimental atrocity. And whats worse than that it's recycled sentiment. Anyone who has seen more than about one war movie will easily pickup on it's formula, anyone who has something going for them is going to die. Anyone who is either too distinctive or not distinctive enough will die. There will be a (some what) happy ending. Etc. It is easy to tell that this is a Disney movie, aside from the love theme, there is almost no blood for such a horrible battle. Like a comment another reviewer said it's like Titanic crashed into Saving Private Ryan. A sure fire money maker for the company...I simply wasnt impressed and was having a hard time fighting off boredom and sleep in the theater. For a better war movie thats more realistic than Pearl Harbor, I'd reccommend Starship Troopers!
Rating: Summary: HILLARIOUS! Review: Execelent effects combined with the most intrigant love story and the war in the middle... WHO WOULD WANT MORE THAN THAT!
