Summary: Pearl Harbor
Review: I am amazed how the formal critics rate this movie so poorly. I know that alot of the movie is fictitious, but so what. We all know what happened at Pearl Harbor, Just like we knew what happened on the Titanic. This movie kept me awake thru the whole 3hrs. I like the the love stories and the the battle scenes. It is truely a movie I would go see again.

Summary: excellent film!
Review: I loved Pearl Harbor! I would definitely see it again!- It's about time America had a good patriotic movie and the men (and women) were just beautiful!

Summary: Every American should see "PEARL HARBOR"
Review: This is a brilliantly done "period piece", vintage 1940's in every way, and a good history lesson for all who are under 60 years old and were not really there in 1941 (including me.)!!

The so-called "critics" earn their paycheck by tearing apart every facet of a performance that they possibly can, but in this case, those critics are wrong. There is much that is good about this film, including the acting, casting and obviously the special effects.

Like "Saving Private Ryan", this is essentially an anti-war film, in that it deglamorizes and de-romanticizes war, and clearly illustrates the horror, futility and destruction of war.

Sure, there is a love story to draw in the viewers and add a romantic twist to an already well-known historic event, much like the Cameron film "Titanic". Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Alec Baldwin and most, if not all, of the rest of this star-studded cast brought to life the real American heroes who often fade into history as faceless numerical statistics, rather than the real people who had to face up to the challenges and horrors of a time now long ago.

This film brings home the heroism, the struggle, the hopes and fears, and the incalculable losses that we and the rest of the world suffered in World War II. And at the same time, it reveals why we sometimes need to fight for the freedoms and the very way of life which has been handed down to us for over 200 years.

And it does so with the emotional and very effective use of the much criticized "love triangle" of Rafe, Danny and Evelyn, once again bringing to life the unimaginable way that the lives of most all Americans were deeply affected by circumstances they had no control over, and of which many, too many, would not survive.

So, thanks to Disney and the producers for a great film which reminds us how much we owe to the veterans of World War Two, who did indeed save the world from tyranny and madness, and whose incredible sacrifices made possible all that we have today.

A great movie which should be seen by all 21st century Americans!

Summary: best movie ever seen
Review: ok for those who are bashing this really great movie.... do you ever get out these days who cares about the historical content of the movie. okay but ur the only ones out there. most of the teenage population who far outnumber u losers out there happen to not give a damn about the historical content. i happen to be a teenager and have some what of a clue about good movies. this here is one of the best. u have to understand the historical content bores us to death. we love the whole bombing scene yeah but the hotties (aka Josh and Ben) and the love story is what intrests us the most. i mean yeah there is some historical content to this movie but we spend enough time studying in school that when we go to see a movie like this totally awesome one we go to see kick azz ones w/ some historical content but with a good love story. history happens to be my fave subj. but this movie has some historical content in it and i love it so for all u teens out there keep seeing it it is a kick azz movie

Summary: Sad Story -- Not War But The Movie
Review: The only thing good about the movie was the war sequence special effects. The love story was extremely predictable. There were too many untruths in the movie which I won't go into. There was very little involvement of the strategies of what both sides were thinking and planning. And the Doolittle raid was anticlimatic, probably with someone thinking "how can we end this movie and resolve the love triangle problem?" Special effects and a stupid love story does not cover up a bad movie. I would only recommend this movie if you want to see the special effects on a big screen instead of the television when it comes out on video.

Summary: Not worth all the hype, but solid
Review: This would-be masterpiece simply does not live up to all the pre-summer hype. This let-down possibly has something to do with the length of film which runs around 3 hours. The only reason I do give film 3 stars is due to incredible special effects, which involved a lot of computer tech. The writing is not there and acting is lukewarm. There is also too much emphasis on love story which makes this seem very Titanicesqe! A good World War II epic, such as the Longest Day or Saving Pvt. Ryan does not need all that time wasted on some silly love triangle. The romance in the movie focuses the audiences attention on just that, and I came away feeling shortchanged because this was supposed to be about Pearl Harbor, and not about 3 knuckleheads and their love triangle. I would have much rather gone to a seminar and listened to survivors of Pearl Harbor give their real life accounts.

Summary: more than the critics!
Review: I thought Pearl Harbor was an excellent movie. There was a "love" element and an "action" element. They are put together well, it's not like one thing or another. The screenplay is good, the cinematography is amazing, the soundtrack is wonderful, and the acting is brilliant, and they effects are spectacular. I think the critics should lighten up, because it's better than what they are saying.Maybe I am just a teeny-bopper kid who will buy anything, But I have high standards and Pearl Harbor met them. I've seen it four times, and I am still seeing things and catching things that I didn't before. Judge it for yourself, not for what some 50 year old guy says.

Summary: Celluloid prozac.
Review: God, this is dull. The effects are not too bad but are they worth waiting for the seeming days that click by while the rest of this identikit effort strolls two-dimensionally along? I didn't think history actually received that severe a mauling all considered. After all, it did involve a lot of Americans the first time around so there was presumably little need to revise the entire second world war in order to get actors of such limited ability they couldn't possibly act foreign into the film.

Summary: Took my breath away...............
Review: When I watched this, I was held in awe of the emotions that played across the actors' faces. For three hours, I sat there watching 'Pearl Harbor' with avid attention. Everything faded away into nothingness and I felt like I was AT Pearl Harbor, reliving everything, only it was just beginning. Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale made a great on-screen couple and Josh Hartnett went down well as Danny, Ben Affleck's character's best friend. The only thing, aside from some of the mixed up historical facts, that left me wanting would be the love story. If Danny have not fallen for Evelyn (Kate), then everything would have been just fine. As it was, everything became all messy. Also, Cuba Gooding Jr. did not make as much of an impact as did the other stars. I thought that it was rather unfair to him, seeing that Cuba Gooding Jr. is a very talented actor. Jon V. and Alec Baldwin were also kinda left out. Overall, though, I thought that it was excellent and it would not hurt to see more of Ben Affleck. To all those who compared 'Titanic' to 'Pearl Harbor', 'Pearl Harbor' is definitely higher on my list!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Pretty Close to the Real Thing
Review: I thought this movie was very good. I am a young woman, who knew about Pearl Harbor but never really knew all the details of it. From what I saw and compared to true fact, things were pretty much close to the actual battle. There was also a love story mixed in, which made it more appealing to the female audience. I thought it was a good date movie and would highly recommend it.
