Rating: Summary: Pearl Harbor Review: I thought this movie was well casted and well written. It was a romantic, tragic, exciting, and in some parts funny movie. I would recomend anyone to go and see it.
Rating: Summary: Great War Movie Review: I thought this was a great movie. What's wrong with mixing a little love story with a great war story?I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys war movies. It's also good for teens & young adults who don't know too much about WW II, since it gives an easy-to-follow and fairly accurate historical overview of the period. I'm really interested in WW II and the events and people involved and have seen just about every movie on the subject. My husband wouldn't go see it just because Alec Baldwin was in it. But he had just a small role in the picture and his appearance didn't detract too much from the overall movie.
Rating: Summary: I wish i could give it ZERO stars Review: First of all, I would just like to say that I saw this movie OPENING DAY and was VERY excited. I was hoping this would be the next Saving Private Ryan, but I was wrong. This item couldn't couldn't keep my attention for 5 minutes, let alone 3 hours and 15 minutes. Ben Affleck's performance is his worst ever, making the audience feel like they should have rented Dogma or Chasing Amy. Affleck's relationship with Michael Bay is clichè and cardboard, just like Kate Beckinsale's relationship with every character in the movie. Cuba Gooding Jr., who is the best actor in the film, is given no more than 10 minutes of acting time, making way for one of the worst love stories of all time. Jerry Bruckheimer, the creative genius behinfd Remember The Titans has created a movie in which it is possible for no one with an I.Q. over 70 to enjoy The film made it look like the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor because of the hidious love triangle, more of a lust triangle than anything, than the fact that the world was at war. Viewer's who haven't seen this are lucky and should go rent TORA! TORA! TORA!, the real story of the attack on Pearl Harbor. In the words of the Comic Book Guy "Worst Movie Ever"
Rating: Summary: Great movie..... if you're 13 years old Review: I think that most of the people that have reviewd this movie must be little teenage girls that liked it for the cute boys. This movie was way too long and absolutely boring. The entire story was predictable and phony. The characters were not very well developed (shocking that they couldn't do that in the over 3 hours it ran). I think that this was a sorry attempt at a Titanic success story for Disney. Some of the charcters in this movie were so badly written and played just a terribly. It shocks me that people can't just shout out the lines of this movie as it is playing. I knew everything that was going to happen long before it happened. If you want to see a movie about Pearl Harbor and the attack, you should look for something else. This is a love story and has nothing to do with the actual events that took place. I seriously doubt that the Japanese were using miniature boats in little ponds and pushing them with sticks to plan their attack. How stereotypical can we be? I just hope that this movie makes the quick jump off of the big screen so some good movies can actually make it up there. It is upsetting that stuff like this is what gets the financial backing while really good movies are pushed to the side because they don't appeal to the little teenage girls and boys. Just a little thing to ponder...... a good movie isn't just made up of the newest special effects, it also takes a GREAT story to remain in the hearts of the people. This movie lacks a good script and has mediocre special effects. Save your money and go see something worth paying for.
Rating: Summary: Horrible! Review: Everything about this movie was so idiotic! I almost cried out of bad character acting, poor script, inaccurate history, poorly done special effects....Suggestion if anyone wants to watch an excellent WWII film go watch "Thin Red Line". Now that was amazing.
Rating: Summary: The BEST movie i have ever seen my whole life Review: when i first saw this movie it tooke my breath away because it just shows true freinship and inspired me to think how much you could love a best friend, like what Danny did to save Rafe on the end but im not telling you much you have to see it yourself.Yeah yeah yeah lots of people are disappointed (more like the adults) because they came to see a war movie but instead a love triangle between two best friends inlove with the same woman but dont listen to them the movie is absolutely BRILLIANT! i wont mind seeing it a hundred times..its funny, dramatic sad and alot more....it will also inspire you to love a best friend by Danny and Rafe....so go see this movie yourself but if you think its a war movie the FORGET IT!! its mostly for teens so im warning you adults now but for the rest of us WE LOVE IT!
Rating: Summary: Pearl Harbor Review: I think the movie does show the innocent heroism of that generation. It gives a face to so many that so willingly gave up their young lives. An example of this is when every single person stepped forward to vollunteer for the Dollittle raid. I thought the actors did a great job, even if the lines were cheesy. The way the actors said them, the lines just came off as sweet and pure. It had some faults, but the overall picture was effective.
Rating: Summary: The Titanic of this Year Review: This movie was splendid. I am only 14 years old, but I am obsessed with movies and I know a good one when I see it. All the newspaper and magazine critics found terrible things to say about the film, which really boggles my mind, because I have seen Pearl Harbor twice, and it is awesome. It may be because I love Titanic-ish films, but I loved the romance story. Yes, it was pathetically sappy in many ways, but it appealed to me nonetheless, and it appealed to many others of my obnoxious female age. I can see, though, why so many adults and older people thought it lacked much emotion. Adults are'nt as into the plots as they are into the fact that this movie had to portray an actual time in history. Sadly, it's hard for me to see the film this way. I think it will take a bit more schooling to come across this point in time and actually recognize how this film is patriotically important. I do agree with the critics on one note, though...the actions scenes WERE long and drawn out. However, I thought Bay did an excellent job of portraying the explosions and tragic ship sinkings with great care. What's more, I am incredibly obsessed with Josh Hartnett, so that's another thing that really compelled me to see the film (the movie could've had a close-up of Josh for 3 hours and 10 minutes and it would still be fantastic). The casting was great, to say the least, even though I thought that it was a crime how Rafe and Evelyn end up together (even though Danny is too young for Evelyn). The death at the end was so depressing but beautiful, and I bawled through the whole part. This movie was incredible and definitely the Titanic of this year. I urge you all to go see it. The soundtrack is well worth your money, too, as is a book titled "Pearl Harbor: The Movie and the Moment," and the book titled "Day of Infamy," by Walter Lord. Thanx.
Rating: Summary: Given what was expected Review: Many thought that Pearl Harbor was going to be documentary film, when in actuality it was just a film that took place during the time of the Pearl Harbor insident. It has it all, it's a love story, it has action, and even a litte humor. Seeing the film knowing that it isn't a documentary, I don't see why anyone would give it such horrible reviews. Pearl Harbor is just like Titanic. Take a tragic event in history, create some characters that you become attatched to, and feel what they are feeling. I enjoyed this film and even saw it several times. The actors are wonderful and I recommend you see it for yourself.
Rating: Summary: Good Movie....Go See It Review: .... What it is is a time capsule of that period. My grandfather was at Pearl Harbor when it got bombed, it is truly amazing to see it in action since he never talks about it. Everything in this movie was good...Ben Affleck does a great job, Kate Beckinsale is torn between two guys that love her, and in the end she is stuck (you have to watch it) with Josh Hartnett, the innocent one. You have to watch the movie to understand the so called "love triangle", it was 3 months after Rafe (Affleck) had been killed or missing or whatever and Danny (Hartnett) and Evelyn (Beckinsale) hadn't seen eachother. Rafe is what brought them together, she was just calling out to someone because she was hurting, and so was he. The bombing scene is very emotional, the most emotional point in the movie. It's very well directed and put together. This movie shows how innocent, egotisical, and highly we rated ourselves, and how it all came down at Pearl Harbor. I've seen this movie twice and I'd see it again in a second. If you don't respect history don't see this movie, but if you respect it and respect the people back then, go see it. Yes, some of the lines may be kindof cheesy, but think about Titanic, look how many times they said eachother's names in that one. Its a good movie...go see it.
