Summary: PANACHE, PASSION AND PREJUDICE
Review: A stunningly beautifully scripted story, rich in history and proclaiming an"old fashioned" integrity, sorely missing from modern scripts. The intricate plots always involve several subplots as well, and are complicated enough to keep viewers in suspense,until the very end. Trevor Eve makes a compelling Tynburn, honest, tough, yet adhering to his sense of honour and displaying a beguiling humor and a completely infectious smile! Miss Fitzgerald is "his " perfect heroine, always lovely.yet consistently true to her principles. Her obvious love for Tyburn is manifested in the numerous opportunities she finds to assist and even save" him, unselfishly putting herself in "harms way."! The political climate of Kenya in the 1930's, is blatently one of racial prejucices by the decadent and amoral ruling class of Britons, however, one glimpses individual moments of love, tolerance, understanding and friendship, which are woven throughout the story. I loved the beautiful scenery and enjoyed every moment of it. I own the video and have watched it at least twenty time, as well as given it as gifts. It was delightful to realize that exceptional scripts and superb acting is still a criteria for some, and "Heat of the Sun" proudly and profoundly displays this sense of unsurpassed quality. It was a rare and wonderful treat!

Review: Absolutely First Class British Mystery Series!! Trevor Eve stars as a Scotland Yard detective, who after shooting a child molester (a member of "society") is exiled to Kenya. Here he befriends a Native Police Corporal and falls in love with a woman pilot. Along the way he "stirs up" the society of the Colony and solves several mysteries. Well written and lots of suspense and action. Don't miss this series of 3 mysteries. WGBH Boston and the BBC should do more of these!!!

Review: Disappointing series due to creaky plots which rely on shock rather than wit, e.g. star Eve is in Africa because he killed a wealthy homosexual pedophile. We see him shoot the man on two separate occasions in episode one and each time star Eve is framed and lit as some sort of mythical avenging angel. Later, star Eve must deal with a rouged, fey, coke sniffing homosexual who makes Michael Jackson look understated. Really, this kind of thing is not what one expects of an expensive-looking British production. If I wanted this kind of pap I could have rented a Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal film. And star Eve packs his noticeable pudge a little too tightly into his costumes for him to be believably tossing interlopers around as if he were, well, Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal. So, watch if you want some nice views of Africa - or if you are a touch homophobic - but don't expect anything sophisticated or even well done.

Summary: Candy for the Mind
Review: Every moment of Heat of the Sun was a treat to watch. There was not a minute that I was not lost in the world of colonial Kenya, savoring each second of this mini-series. It was like good, addictive chocolate--I kept hoping for more, and like a child who has eaten the last of his candies felt a wave of dissapointment when I realized that it was over, that I had eaten the last of my chocolate and had none left to look forward to. Highly reccomended!

Summary: Another place and time ... infinitely interesting people
Review: From the bleakness of the opening scene in London, to the blaze of the Kenya sun, this series evokes romance and intrigue. Intricate plots and fascinating characters populate this unknown world. The scripts artfully present themes of justice, redemption, and vengeance. While serious and committed, Tyburn's wicked sense of humour sets him a cut above most fictional detectives. (Trevor Eve's impish grin is utterly devastating.) Supporting characters are excellently drawn and portrayed. The bad guys are all thoroughly bad. The good guys are always a bit tarnished. For me, this makes it all the more interesting, all the more worth watching. From a female perspective, the character of Emma Fitzgerald is one of the more admirable I've seen in a long time. "Do we even have a plan, Albert?" For mystery fans, for history fans, for fans of good, old-fashioned romance, this is a series for you. The only fault I can find is that it ended.

Review: I absolutely love this video. Great writing, wonderful performances, riveting drama. Stellar Scotland Yard detective is exiled to Kenya, where he faces new--and most interesting--challenges. I've watched it repeatedly and never tire of it.

Summary: Superb entertainment
Review: I absolutely loved it--I even wrote fan ltrs to Tyburn and Ms FitzGerald. I recognized "Tyburn's" impish smile from his Taster's Choice commercial as the spurned husband. Asst Sup Valentine has a bit and really bit spot in NoTTing Hill (can others spot him??) I was glued to the TV. I don't care if anything was anachonistic I LOVED IT.
