Summary: As committed a fan as ever
Review: I borrowed the 8 VHS tapes from my local library and I'm sorry that I did not watch this sooner. I was born in 1976 but by the time the eighth tape had ended, I felt as though I lived through Beatlemania and the 1960's with the boys. Watching the Anthology was the equivalent of watching two bands develop. You watch the boys through their formative days in Hamburg, Germany, to the early days of superstardom and the craziness of the mania, to the mid-to-late 60's where they stopped touring, Brian Epstein died, they made a movie the critics hated (who cared what they thought, anyway?), and they were starting to go their separate ways. There was a lot I learned from this and the concert footage, the home movies, and the unreleased interviews truly helped to make this Anthology a must have for every serious Beatle fan. This is definitely not for the casual fan. This is intense and my respect for John, Paul, George, and Ringo has increased ten-fold since watching this.

Review: I love this music. The best thing about this DVD set is the additional live performances; lots more of them, and they're pretty terrific. Good music, nostalgia galore, and you can get a good look at those boots. So like, when are those gonna come back into style (and how can I get some??!!). Enjoy this.

Summary: The Beatles better than ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: The Anthology in DVD is something that every fan of the Beatles must get. If you are not a fan of the beatles (is there any?) this is your oportunity to get something of the best group of alltime. You can see John, George, Paul and Ringo since they were kids, their beginnings, the beatlemania, their tours, the making of the records, theirs films, sessions of their recordins, but maybe the most valuable is in the fith DVD "SPECIAL FEATURES" where you can see Paul, Ringo and George talking and singing. You can't miss the Anthology.

Summary: Excellent!!!
Review: I was borne in 1950 and grew up with The Beatles. I also like Elvis, Dylan, Stones, Genesis, Doors, Clapton, Pink Floyd, Chuck Berry, Enya, Supertramp, Blondie, Cat Stevens, Rod Stewart, Bowie, Oasis, etc., etc.. But, really, nothing compares to the "Fab Four". When I play this DVD's (and I do this at least once a week), I live my life again. Tremendous history and superb sound.

Summary: gorgeous editing
Review: the production on this series in nothing short of incredible. The "Free As A Bird" video is brilliant and seemless. It is sad at times, but overall very uplifting. I've never seen footage of Ringo singing live with the Beatles before I watched this. There is all sorts of great footage that is never seen elsewhere.

Summary: Amazing, Complete, and Unmatched
Review: This set of 5 Dvds has everthing that a real Beatles fan would want to know. The Dvds go through the entire story of the Beatles very thoroughly, guided by Paul, Ringo, George Martin, and others involved with them. There is an amazing amount of extra footage that you would never see otherwise. Also, throughout the set the Beatles tell stories that are interesting and amazing. This is by far the best collection of the Beatles work put onto a tape.

Summary: The Beatles Speak
Review: An extensive documentation of the most revered rock and roll band of the twentieth century. Yes, they may share the seat with all the legendary musicians and composers of past centuries because of the influence and impact they had on the general public. This eight dvd collection is a must for those who are not familiar with the band, I can't imagine anyone not knowing who The Beatles were, unless that person has no access to modern technology, which may still be possible. But for those, of the many people, who have turned on the radio or the tele, educate yourself with the Fab Four and turn up the volume.

The introductory part of the dvd presents the band as raw as it could be. You see and hear them in their stellar moments, but as the years progress, they quickly emerge to the legends we know and love. We see and hear the truimph of their rise to pop stardom -- 1963-1965, and we also see the slow breakdown as a result of the group "branching" out and "growing" apart in order to become individuals -- 1966-1970.

The Beatles Anthology on dvd presents the band with much respect. One minor flaw, it might have been best if the "Free As a Bird" video appeared on the final dvd of the collection, as "Real Love" and the behind the scene footage had been appropriately included in that part of the dvd.

Other than that, The Beatles still rock. You dig it?

Summary: Someone already said it was a must own ....but it is!
Review: Anybody and everybody should know who the Beatles were and still are. They are the biggest band to ever enter the studio and perform live. Their story is told here, and it is amazing to get a first hand view. I can't say anything else...what else is there to say? This is amazing, and anybody who is remotely familiar with the Beatles should have this and the book.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Wow,what can be said about The Beatles Anthology on DVD.It's absolutely amazing. The Anthology itself is about 10 hours (plus 81 minutes of bonus material on disc five)long and is such a joy to watch that it almost doesn't seem long enough!
Just about anything you ever wanted to know about the evolution and history of The Beatles from the very beginning in 1940(when Lennon and Ringo were both born)all the way up to their breakup in 1970.
There are literally hundreds of vintage clips of The Beatles, and lots of concert footage, and the music-wow.All I can say is that in DTS sound(also available in DD 5.1 and PCM)the music comes through in a way that I've never heard it before,it is an absolute joy.
The Anthology was made around '94 and '95 and features loads of interviews with the (then)remaining three Beatles, and vintage interviews of John Lennon.
Disc five has some outstanding bonus features,my absolute favorite of which is the "Real Love" video. The song is fantastic(recorded by Paul,George, and Ringo from tracks done by John Lennon before his death),and the video itself is one of the best I've ever seen. But the music-wow,the music just sounds amazing in DTS.

About all I can say is that if you are a fan at all, this set is a must.
