Summary: Not what it could be
Review: This set was released in England in November. That version includes the following, absent from the American release:
*1978 special That's Panthertainment
*The Commercial Peter Sellers - "making of" documentary
*Highly collectible 8-page booklet

Besides the films missing from the series, it is unacceptable that we in this country should have to do without what the Brits get. The documentaries that are here are disappointing, considering they were made by the usually reliable John Cork who did such a great job with those on the James Bond series of DVDs. At least the Alan Atkin film is mentioned, but a clip should have been included, in letterbox. It is not like MGM doesn't own the rightd. In fact the entire film INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU should have been included as should have CURSE OIF THE PINK PANTHER which belongs with TRAIL OF THE PINK PANTHER. It is doubtful those filmsw will see the light of DVD day otherwise. I do enjoy the trivia track, which is very infotmatibe and, I suspect, is the work of John Cork. If so, he almost redeems himself.

It's too bad the Steve Martin revival wasn't mentioned, but perhaps when this set was ready for UK release, that news had not yet been finalized.

Lastly I do not like this new way of packaging multidisc sets, with no individual protection. Thinner cases would be preferable.

Summary: warning - it's an incomplete 'set'
Review: we love these movies and purchased this to own the complete set - we got it home and it is missing 'return of the pink panther', our favorite. why would a 'box set' leave one of the films out?

Summary: Movies look great; extras less filling
Review: We've been waiting for this box set to come out for years, and finally, someone took the trouble to clean up the beloved Pink Panther movies for this "special edition" release, and they look great.

Otherwise, however, these DVDs are a huge "beum" (bomb). The sound is subpar (in many scenes in Revenge, for example, only the center dialogue speaker has any sound, and all dialog is mixed way too quietly). But the sound is a revelation compared to the extras--these are a joke! Where are all the legendary outtakes? Where are the interviews with Herbert Lom (who is nearly as much of a star of these movies (all but the first) as Peter Sellers)? Where are interviews and movie commentaries from the other actors, all of whom could have provided scores of Sellers anecdotes? And where are all the extras included in the British edition, including an excellent documentary on Peter Sellers?

Instead we get one 20-minute documentary that focuses almost exclusively on the first Pink Panther (the "black sheep" of the family, if only because it is so unlike all the other movies), spends 5 minutes on A Shot in the Dark, and then essentially skips the films from the 70s. Was MGM forbidden from even mentioning "Return?" It appears so. And it would have been nice to see at least a few clips from "Inspector Clouseau" with Alan Arkin, if only for the sake of comparison.

The only other extras all relate to the Pink Panther cartoons, but frankly, who cares about these? (They should get their own DVD, or none at all.) I can't imagine why this dearth of extras required a separate DVD.

Very poorly done, MGM. These movies deserve much, much better. Hopefully the distributor that owns "Return" will reissue that movie with a two-disc special edition that includes the kind of extras this box set should have included.

Summary: Peter Sellers at his best!
Review: WOW! What a collection. This collection will have you rolling on the floor with laughter. I laughed so hard throughout the movie that I had to just see it again! Great movies and soundtracks and many actors that have gone on to fame and fortune like Elkie Summers and Roger Wagner. Peter Sellers is at his best.

Summary: "Kato! You Fool!"
Review: Yea! I've been waiting for years for this collector's set to come out on DVD! But, where is "The Return of The Pink Panther?" Yes, all of the classic Clouseau's are here but, in my opinion, the best one of the series is left off because of some studio rights issues! There are some interviews with Blake Edwards and a couple of other people, (which are imformative) but I was very disapointed that there aren't any out-takes or gagreal extras! Besides that, it is a must have box set for any Clouseau lover...
