Summary: Great but I expect the dark tournament to be much better
Review: i havent been watching the yu yu hakusho tv series very long however when i tuned in it was in the middle of the dark tournament and i loved it. since america keeps repeating the series over and over, each time adding new episodes, i watched the whole series over again.

this is the first 25 episodes of the tv series (it ends just after they face off against the toguro brothers for the first time.) i would certainly reccomend this to anyone who enjoys the show and i think it was excellent, but the dark tournament has much better fight scenes. personally i plan to collect the entire series on DVD but if you dont have that much money to spend i would wait for the dark tournament saga to be available.

this sais its for 13 and older but its not much worse than the show. the only difference is mild language and very little blood (there is only one part i can remember thinking there was an excessive amount of blood.) i let my 8 year old son watch it and he hasnt gone around on any killing sprees so i recomend this for all ages.

Summary: Some info on the "uncut" DVDs please...
Review: I'm planning on buying the box set for my sister, who's 10, seeing as she loves the Cartoon Network showing of YYH. But I'm curious as to how different the "uncut" versions are from the TV versions. What "mild language" words do they use, the blood/gore part I'm not hung up about because I'm sure it's barely any...but I'm also curious as to the "sexual humor" that I read the uncut versions have. Can someone please give me some info and/or examples of what's on the uncut versions? Thanks in advance.

Summary: Save yourself some time and money
Review: If you've never seen the series then I'm sure your questioning buying this. My advice is check out the other reviews be it in the idiviual dvds themself or on this item combineing them.

As I don't have it in front of me I beleave this is a 9 disc set containing 3-4 episodes per dvd. This is the first arc of the series which spans 112 episodes. It only gets better as you go along.

I would recomend this over buying just the first couple as if you hate the first couple and wanna return them it's just as easy if you hate this to return it. But should you like it which I have a hunch you will you save yourself some money getting them all at once than buying each one seperately. Plus you get a nice little box to hold them in. Also on a side not I personally hate waiting for the next episode so this was ideal for me. As I got a alot of for alittle. Took me about 2.5 days to watch the whole arc.

Just to mention this for you people still saying well this is alot of money for me to spend on something I've never seen. The series is being aired on Cartoon network on toonami at 6pm currently. They seem to be changing their time slots alot lately. But check out a couple of episodes there to see if you like it.

If you like animae I think you will enjoy this most defintally. =)

Summary: A great beginning to a great anime.
Review: it's a little slow in the beginning, but totally worth it. the next sagas are much more fast paced and interesting, like the Dark Tournament is kinda like the martial arts tournament in DBZ. kinda.

but the beginning is necessary for understanding the whole story line. this is a better deal than buying the dvds separately.

the characters are well developed and not only age over time, but change and grow emotionally as well. it's not just a fighting or adventure anime, there is some serious themes woven in as well.

overall it's exciting and hilarious...a must see for all ages.

Summary: How to tell cut from uncut
Review: Listen up folks, the general rule of thumb here at Amazon, it seems, regarding ratings is that in the item description box if it is listed as unrated it is uncut whereas the cut episodes are rated as "G".
Great anime, love the series and the Manga--everyone reading this has got to check out Shonen Jump (at any supermarket, K-Mart etc.) to see it how Yoshihiro Togashi intended it! and it's good to see some other YYH caliber stuff, too.
This uncut box set is definetly recommended. There isn't really any straight forward inuendo or nudity or anything just mild swearing B***h, D**n, H**l, a*s and so on, and the violence which is in the other anyway, but I digress...

Summary: Confusion
Review: Many anime fans who love Yu Yu hakusho deserve to know which DVD boxed set is Uncut or edited. For search results of Yu YU hakusho on DVD, they list the spirit detective set twice and in no way specify if it's uncut or edited. This is vital information because the Uncut versions include so much more great footage that any fan of this series will savor than the edited version. We must be informed!I really enjoy this series.

Summary: Full Description
Review: Now you may be thinking "This is way too expensive" but it's realy worth it!! For those of you who dont know about Yu-Yu-Hakusho here it is: Uske Urameshi a student in sariaski (SAR-E-ASK-E) High school. H eis usually out on the streets foghting untill one day he saves a boy from a car and gets killed. Then Botan the "Grim Reaper" takes him to spirit world (it's like heaven) where Uske is to see the ruler of spirit world King Yamma but instead he sees Koenma (King Yamma's son) any way after making a deal Uske is brought back to life and then becomes a spirit detective! (A "Police Officer" on earth who tracks down bad demons from the spirit world and has them punished). OK so Uske gets a case to track down 3 demons ... he does .... he enters the Gen Kia tornament where he needs to get another demon ..... finally the dark tornament (after a cose or two) the dark tournamet is a tornament in spirit world where demons fight for the ultimate prize sothats pretty much the whole 9 disc set but trust me i just described it in five minutes the discs are about 8 or more hours

BTW: I didn't want to ruin the surprize of what the ultimate prize is!!

But I will give you a hint of what it is: Wish

Summary: good but gets lame
Review: Ok this show is a good show alright. I'm not taking anything away from it.These first 25 episodes of yu yu are good but they do tend to get boring. I would not buy this dvd if anyone plans on watching it over once or twice. But I do reccomend it for people who like the anime and like to watch it over and over again. I would definetly wait till the dark tournament box set comes out. A much better saga, better animation and fight scenes are way better.

Summary: YAY! ^.^
Review: Sup. I love YYH and everything that has to do with it. I plan on getting this, but before I do, I have a single question. Is this thing uncut? I hope so, because the undubbed is WAY better than version they showed on Cartoon Network.

Summary: Yu Yu Hakusho
Review: The story is about Yusuke a boy "about 14-15" who is considered a huge thug. He is somewhat of a bully at the school though more of a thug. He is the strongest punk in the whole school and as such people treat him like a punk. The teachers hate him and the students fear him. However Yusuke gives his life for a little boy and such a courageous act as well as an unexpected one gives him the chance to be granted life once more.

This is a pretty good anime and while he seems immortal remember he loses his life once and almost twice and unlike such animes as DBZ they can't be brought back to life. When you lose in this game you die so I see no reason why the director would want Yusuke to be deleted from the series.
