Summary: tenchi muyo
Review: this series is absolutely great. its not exactly an action but more of a comedy/romance. I've only seen the uncut version (I hate edited versions of anime because sometimes they have to rework the plot and dialogue) and its definitely not something they would show on tv without editing. I've never seen the Toonami versions and quite frankly, I don't want to, knowing that they'll have to edit it for little kids to watch. From what I know they probably digitally edited the hot springs scenes or just totally cut them out for Toonami. And if they left it in, they'd have to change some of the jokes (which I really don't appreciate) and being a teenager, raunchy humor is what we're in to. So if you're looking for Tenchi Muyo, I'd recommend getting the original (uncut, unToonamified) ^_^

Summary: One of the greats Anime shows of all time!
Review: Well, this show begin with a teenage boy who's life is turned around by alien women coming to his home and living with him. It might sound corney but don't judge it that quickly. The show is very deep and emotional. It has touched me and has influenced the way I look at all T.V. This is a must have for any anime fan. Yes, there is some nudity but most anime has a little. There is really no sex either. So, if you can over look the brief nude scenes then it is a great so for anyone.

Summary: A Must HAve for Any Dramatic Anime Fan
Review: All I can say is this DVD set really is very good. The Animation and Art are top notch and The Plot is extremely thick, so much that you may actually forget that this is a cartoon and not a sci-fi drama with real working actors ;) Well anyways I really liked all of the Tenchi Series' but this one gets me in the gut the most, Espicially with all of the mysterous background to each it leave reeling and asking questions for quite awhile.

Get this DVD and enjoy what the Anime juadra's best has to offer.

Summary: The ultimate Tenchi experience
Review: I have seen the Tenchi Muyo on Cartoon Network, and even purchased a DVD off ebay, but this version here is the best of the best. If you are a Tenchi fan, you must get this. Any other version makes no sense.

Summary: Best Anime Series I have seen
Review: This has to be the best set of anime I have seen, if you haven't seen this series you should. The animation is great, the plot for the most part is excelent, though you can tell the last one was sort of thrown in there. The last episode also has a little bit after the credits that explains a couple things with Dr. Clay and such. Also rummor has it that they are continuing this series which if it actually happens will be real nice.

Summary: You don't need it, but you know you want it
Review: The Tenchi Muyo DVD box set is something that anyone will enjoy (especially those who really appreciate Japanese Animation). The characters and the story are very well thought out. The animation is increadible, and ( from what I can tell ) done completely in cel.

The only complaints that I have with this dvd box set is that it has some trouble playing on certain dvd players (my laptop's) and that some 2-5 frames per DVD are a bit messed up ( the movies that you watch in theaters play at 24 frames per second, but I watched some scenes frame by frame )

I'm sure that whoever decides to purchase this title will be very pleased.

Summary: Poor Image Quality on this very pricey DVD boxed set
Review: My standard disclaimer applies. I will not review the artistic merits of this series. I happen to love this story of an unassuming schoolboy who holds the key to the universe -- but that does not necessarily mean you will.

I will, however, review the technical merits of this release. I was disappointed in the video quality presented in this very pricey DVD boxed set.

Pioneer crammed the entire 13 episode series (nearly 7 hours) onto only two DVDs. That's over 3 hours of heavily compressed program on each single layer disc. As a result, image stability is poor. Each change in scene is met with a jump as it decompresses. This occured on several DVD players I tried so it's not just a problem with my gear.

There is prominent and distracting decompression noise, edge enhancement and posterization throughout. Text and other static objects have a halo of pixels around them. Moving objects leave pixel ghosts behind them. These effects are very visible and very distracting. Quite frankly, the VHS tapes of the Tenchi Muyo series look much better than the DVD boxed set. Pioneer could have avoided all these problems by either putting the series on three DVDs or using two dual layer DVDs. I don't know why they did not do this for Tenchi -- one of Pioneer's most beloved series.

I was very disappointed by the problems with this release -- especially given the THX badge emblazened on the front of the box. This usually means the image quality will be fairly good. All the other THX DVDs I own look spectacular. The THX logo was one of the reasons I bought the set. But, in this case, The THX logo doesn't seem to mean much at all. Both progressive scan and interlaced systems look equally bad. In fact, progressive scan systems seem to showcase the digital artifacts *more* than interlaced systems do.

The third DVD in the set is a poorly produced and relatively useless "encyclopedia" of the Tenchi universe. If you watch the series, you will know absolutely everything presented on this disc.

I know I'm being fairly critical of this release. I can say some good things about this DVD boxed set. The packaging is neat, the colors are bright and the sound is fairly good. Otherwise, in my opinion, you should save your money. The technical probelms with this particular release are enough to nearly ruin the series -- even for hard core Tenchi fans such as myself.

I'm ready to trade my copy in on a set of VHS tapes.

Summary: A Amazing Piece of art.
Review: To start off...I gotta congradulate the People who made this piece of art...The Characters include Ayeka, {a jaruai princess} Her little sister Sasami {a very cute little girl with hidden powers} Ryoko {a space pirate after tenchis heart. Rivals with ayeka over tenchi ALOT} , Kiyone {a galaxy police officer whose dream is to get away from Mihoshi} Mihsoshi...{kiyones partner and...pretty much a airhead} and Washu{ My second favorite Character next to Ryoko and The smartest thing in the universe} and last of all Tenchi {the luckiest guy in the UNIVERSE Got all these girls after his heart} with his Grandfather With his own hidden angenda. Put all these things together...and you got tenchi muyo a Very interesting Show with Tenchi and all his Girlfriends...with him just wanting to get back to his normal life. There are a bunch of Run offs from the show {aka pretty sammy Cartoon and books} But the show is Very entertaining although that Cartoon network has cutout alot of this series but...this Ova boxset comes uncut with its own DVD containing ALOT of photos and clips from the tvshow and the whole outline of the shrine and his house and whatnot. This Box set Came with a very very nice box and some cool pictures...a very good box for a dvd Ive ever seen...Jeez it had to be...for a hundred bucks. But it was WELL worth it with Alot of the tenchi muyo saga{ if not all of it}. If you like character devolpment comedy and just plain great animation this is the place to look... a very very funny series although odd in some parts. But...Id recommend Dragon Ball Z if you like fighting. This show isnt exactly all about fighting although You dont need fighting to make good anime heh heh heh.... Id really like it if you say this review helped you heh...and look at my other reviews...those are very good shows too... The soundtrack to this tenchi muyo is also really Good...And well worth the money spent...and if you dont buy this I will come over to your house and uhh....do something...

Summary: Which is better this or Toonami?
Review: I reallly enjoyed this box set, it comes with the whole OAV series. I think it should have come with the Mihoshi special, but you can't always get what you want. I liked it because it has a good story line and over all the series I would say this is for teens becaues of nudity, and stronger language. But parents it's a good show so let them see the edited version on Toonami.
