Summary: Strange but good
Review: It's hard to be entirely objective about this series, since I liked it. Reading the other reviews I can not help but agree, this is very good amusement. The story is a bit flaky a times though and you sometimes have to make mental leaps to properly assimilate what's happening.

Animation quality is good and the DVD transfer is excellent, but I found the sound a bit on the tinny side, but maybe that's just my sound set. Extra's are decent, nothing to write home about really, but sufficient, but the real bonus is just the sheer size of it. 49 episodes in one box, for a price where other series pawn you off with a measly 26 or less.

I really can only harp on a few things, mainly:
* There is a LOT of re-use of animation, which is especially clear if you watch more than 1 episode at a time. It grates after a time, since the actual animation is rather good (for a TV show)
* Story/Character arcs, but this has been discussed enough I guess :)

Anyway, I can recommend this to anyone who looks dramatic/action-filled mecha anime and who doesn't require shakespeare-quality plotlines.

Summary: This anime is unlike any other...honest.
Review: This anime is one of the best in plot and in image. Its characters are well rounded having different veiws as the war rages on. Characters like Treize, leader of OZ, are just so captivating at times. At one point he's bad, then he's good, then he's bad again, and then he's just misunderstood. Also, the Gundam pilots are always being torn between sides trying to decide which is right and which is wrong. Another thing about this anime is that it has heart pounding battle scenes while maintaining a good plot. Usually it's just one or the other. I believe that any person, no matter their age, would die over this show, anime fan or not. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't had the pleasue of viewing this captivating series.

Summary: "Wars are truly heartless indeed."
Review: Gundam Wing is not just my favorite Mecha. Nor is it merely my favorite show. It is my favorite ANYTHING. Granted, it may not be for everyone, but it is definitely the deepest show I've ever seen on television. I have watched the entire show through at least twice, and some episodes I have seen more than a dozen times (Portrait of a Ruined Country and The Gundam They Called Zero are two of my favorites). This show is all about three things.

First and foremost, Gundam Wing is about the politics of war. There are so many plot twists that if you miss a single episode you may get completely lost. What starts out looking like your average show (good guys fight bad guys, good guys beat bad guys, repeat) quickly changes. Within the first 10 episodes, the main character will try to attack innocent people, the world government will be overthrown, and our heroes will start to wonder who exactly their enemy is. As the series goes on, things just get more and more complicated as military organizations are created, destroyed, and double crossed.

The second thing this series is all about is action. In every episode there will be Mech battles, and some of them are truly spectacular. Every once in a while, one of the Gundams will do something so cool, the moment just leaves you thinking "Whoa." And as the series goes on, the battles get more and more complex, and more and more heated.

But the third thing this series has going for it is character development. Treize Kushrenada is my idea of what would happen if James Bond became the leader of Spectre. Is he really evil, or just misunderstood? He eventually finds himself an outdated dinosaur, clinging to ideals that have becomes outdated with the times. Lady Une is one of the best examples of a person with split personalities I've ever seen. At first you hate her, but as you come to understand why she does what she does, you actually come to feel sorry for her.

This series has many great characters played by great voice-actors. Heero is great. Relena is solid. Even Hildi and Noin are great. But my two favorite characters in the series have got to be Dororthy and Zechs. Dorathy plays every scene with a perfect hint of sarcasm that constantly keeps you guessing if she's being sincere, or laughing inside at someone's actions. And then there is Zechs Marquise...

In the English version of Gundam Wing, Brian Drummond gives the single greatest piece of voice-acting I've ever seen in my life. He is PERFECT as Zechs Marquise. Zechs is a complex character. And I really feel that's he's the one that holds the series together. He's 19 year old who talks with an icy voice. He's ALWAYS serious. The only thing that matters to him is honor. And in his quest to do the right thing, he is forced to betray his friends, protect his family, come close to death, and even kill his own men. But like a tragic hero out of a Shakespearian tragedy, he is trapped by his actions. Never doing nothing, and never quite taking enough action, he lets a bad situation escalate until it's completely out of control and he's completely lost his mind (or has he?). Zechs is the perfect tragic hero/villain (depending on your point of view).

Some have complained about the animation in this show, but personally I love it. The watercolor style backgrounds and excellent Mecha designs are a winning combo in my book. I also really love the music.

If you love a complex political drama with great action and characterization, you owe it to yourself to give Gundam Wing a try. If you still have doubts, search the net and download the long toonami promo (the best promo or trailer I have ever seen for anything). Suit up!

Summary: Over Rated but none the less, good
Review: Dont get me wrong, gundam w was a great series. However, i like the rest of them much better with the exception of g-gundam. Gundam w and g-gundam simply lack what gundam really means. The characters are very unrealistic, and in my opinion, uninteresting. The series just gets a bit boring when all that happens is these five impossibly powerful mobile suits destroy hundreds of incredibly inferior mobile suits that seem to explode with the drop of a pin. And with g-gundam...for god's sake, the same thing happens every time! You would think that eventually someone would figure out how to dodge a flamethrower hand. The animators concentrated way to much on making the series look pretty, and not enough on keeping with gundam story. The original story line seemed to just vanish in this series. And the entire peace through war idea was from a whole different dimension than the rest of the series.

Summary: Gundam Wing Kicks Butt!
Review: My top ten reasons to watch gundam wing. 10) the main boys are intense. 9) It gives an inightful angle on war. 8)It is the best of the entire gundam Saga. 7) Detailed and Complete. 6) Unique, i have never seen another show that measures up to it. 5) Totally Awesome Mechas! 4) HEart-string tugging plot twists (Poor Trowa gets amnesia when he is needed *sob*) 3) Cool romances. 2) Well done fight scenes. 1) Did i mention the main boys are intense? This series has a facinating angle on war. IT is so well done, and the characters are so insightful that the words are haunting! "In truth I don't know if I am being held in the arm of Milliardo, the kind brother I once knew, or in the bloodstained hands of Zechs Marquise"~Relena Peacecraft. Along with the sorows there is some happiness.. but not that much, this IS war after all. All in all i would give it a 6 out of 5 but amazon will not let me.

Summary: Best Series in Gundam
Review: All of you whom are insulting Gundam Wing should just be quiet. Ok? Gundam Wing is so much better than all of the other shows. I've seen at least one episode of every one of the anime cartoons. All the others were such a disgrace to the Gundam series. The only other one that is really good and gets close to Gundam Wing is G-Gundam. I may be a Dragon Ball Z fan and have been for years but all of you who hate Gundam Wing watch too much Dragon Ball Z and the Dragon Ball series. No offense to myself and others who like Gundam Wing and watch DBZ. It was about eight or nine years ago I started watching so for those of you whom are insulting it again and haven't seen all the other shows shouls shut up! For those of you who are thinking of buying this set I think you should. Don't listen to those other idiotic people who hate the series because they're mental and should see a doctor or something. This is a must have for Gundam Fans. If you're a collector I would recomend getting this to have because its so great.

Summary: Gundam Wing Rules!!
Review: I have very good taste in Anime material. I have been a Anime fan for many years so I know what I am talking about..ANYWAYS,..Gundam Wing has to be the best Anime show ever, besides DBZ. Dont waste your time with the other Gundam series because they [are bad]. BUt Gundam Wing is Awesome. It has amazing story with awesome music, great action/violence, and the characters are just so fricking cool. It's amazing how the whole story comes together throughout the 49 episodes. You just go ..OH MY GOD! i KNEW IT OR WHATEVER THE HE** YOU SAY. Now I can't decide which show is better..DBZ OR GUNDAM W. They are just the best. But trying to collect every dbz episode is a pain since there are over 200!! Gundam Wing rules. But trying to get 179 dollars will take some time.I thimnk it's worth it.

Summary: For True Anime Fans
Review: I have seen all the Gundam series. From the extremely good Gundam Wing to the incredably pathetic Mobile Suit Gundam. Sure sometimes it takes a while to get to the good fighting, it only makes the plot deeper and makes you want to see more. This probably has the best drawing compared to the other Gundam series. Gundam 0083, G Gundam, and Mobile Suit Gundam all look kind of sketchy, especially Mobile Suit series. This series probably has the best Gundams and some of the best characters, unlike the ones in Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam 0083, whos heroes act like complete idiots who fall apart at the first site of danger. Even though some may see somethings as a copy of the other ones, it sure beats them. If your looking for Dragon Ball Z type of Gundam look for G Gundam. If your looking for a disgrace of anime look for Mobile Suit Gundam. If your looking for good Anime look for this.

Summary: Oh Yeah Baby
Review: ALRIGHT!! Listen all of u idiots who ripped on this series need to get a job, a new life, and maybe stop watching DBZ. Nothing personal against DBZ fans. This is the best (O8 MS Team is close) Gundam series ever. Sure like some say Zechs is a rip off of Char, but Zech's character is much deeper thatn char's. The chararcters are just plain better in GW. in MSG Amuro was the wussiest, little rat ever. He puts gundam to shame. But where he lacks, trust me, GW picks up the slack. The chararcters are deep and the plot, while remainging the same, is always twisted, wich adds to the suspense. The animation in Gundam Wing is good (remeber it came out in '95). The Mobile Suits are the best (way better than MSG). One recomendation, if u are a starter at gundam, this is the series for you. But I suggest waiting a while before u get the Endless Waltz movie, it's kind of confusing, and not even I (who has been watching Gundam Wing ever since it's debut on Toonami) has figured the whole thing out. So trust me, this is one AWESOME DVD collection
