Summary: What a great series
Review: Let me say this: Gundam Wing is simply much better then the recent flood of anime that has been invading the US. I'll admit this, it is my favorite series (not to say the Evangelions and Inuyasha's aren't great, they just lack that flair that GW has). Though I would prefer to compare this series to another one, there is simply no series I have seen that can really compare to the greatness that is Gundam Wing, at least that I have seen (yes, I have seen Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion). Gundam Wings mech design surpass that of pretty much every series. The action is high octane and held to be near constant. The depth of this series is very well explained, though it IS difficult to watch one episode (with the exception of the first) and know what is going on. The characters in this series are compelling and have characteristics most people can relate too. This series preaches messages to the viewer who pays close attention, and these messages include "what it means to fight for something you believe in" and how "dirty and foul wars can really be." Gundam Wing has something that not many other series have, and in name it is Relena Darlian/Peacecraft, the preverbial "Angel of the Battlefield." She is a complete pacifist and is not afriad to put herself in harms way so that people can realize her ideals of peace. In short, Gundam Wing is for every Gundam/Anime fan, whether your fresh off of G-Gundam or an old-school Universal Century fan with a grudge agianst series with an AC timeline, or whether you just like big robots with big guns that make big explosions, this is a must own series and is considered to be a timeless classic in Japan. Hey millions of fans can't be wrong, and that number is growing daily.

Summary: Gundam Wing is the most captivating Gundam Series out there!
Review: I have to say I have seen a little bit of every Gundam Show in existence. And Gundam Wing by far, in my opinion, surpasses them all. While the animation is obviously better than it's predecessors the plot and characters are also deeper. It's a darker world in GW and a lot of things are different in this series than in any of the others. The colonies in this series are NOT the enemies, but a confused bunch of people who have been abused time and time again. They make for very good under dogs. The main characters are very well developed - and actually have emotional breaking points! Also, the main character isn't happy go lucky - but a soldier. It's kinda disturbing that they are only 15, but it just makes them deeper characters. I recommend this show to ANYBODY.
Personally I liked the English version but if you want a treat the Japanese version is hilarious. The voice actors are better and the lines make so much sense. O and read Episode Zero before you watch this series -- SO many more things make sense it's amazing!

Review: INTRODUCTION:
Ever since the late seventies, the Gundam series has been one of the most successful and widely-loved anime series in the world. It has become a favorite of many over the years. There have been several different sub-series over the years, and one of the most popular ones of which is the Wing series, released in the mid-nineties. This is a DVD box set featuring every episodes from the series. Read on for my review.

BASIC PLOT:
The Gundam Wing series follows the exploits of five young men who pilot mobile suits against the forces of an organization seeking world domination. There's Heero (the main man), Duo (the cool guy), Trowa (the quiet guy), Quatre (the peace-lover), and Wufei (the overconfident hothead.) The battle rages on for forty-nine episodes, and as the series progresses, a number of plot twists keep things interesting. This is a rare example of a series where the characters aren't paper thin - they continue to evolve as the series progresses. This is one of the best anime series out there, as one of the best mecha series.

SERIES OPINIONS:
To put it simply, this is an excellent series. Many fans of the Gundam series call this the best sub-series of all, and honestly, who can blame them? The storyline is great, the animation is great, the characters are great - everything about this series is great. It's good to see the series get a long overdue DVD release in America.

DVD:
These DVDs are good, because they contain several uncut episodes, but they're bad in that they don't contain any special features (that is, other than the very basic DVD stuff.) The series is one of the greatest anime series out there, but don't expect any bonus material. You may have noticed I said this set was incomplete. Why, you ask? Endless Waltz is missing! For the high price the company is charging for this set, you think they would at least include it!

OVERALL:
Overall this is an excellent anime series, and I recommend it to any anime or mecha fan. If you like either one, this series will not disappoint.

Summary: I laughed, I cried... it became a part of me
Review: I first saw some random episode of Gundam Wing on the Cartoon Network because my brother wanted me to. It intrigued me but I didn't really know what was going on. I ended up watching the whole thing from start to finish and I fell in love. This series has that one thing that I love most about epic stories. It has the portrayal of heroes who suffer and strive to do what is right in the face of overwhelming opposition. Following the growth of the Gundam Pilots is something I can't get enough of.

Add to that the intelligent handling of political topics (primarily the concept of utter pacifism waged against the human tendancy toward war), and you end up with a pretty impressive plot too.

I definitely suggest getting Endless Waltz (the Gundam Wing movie) which has the wrap up material and some amazing and heart warming occurences. Over all, Gundam Wing is my favorite anime. I'm not syaing there isn't other really good anime out there, but this one just so much in it that I'll watch all 20 hours over an over again.

Review: I saw a few episodes of Gundam Wing last summer, when I was abroad (sadly, it doesn't air here in Canada). Being thrown into the middle of the story, I initially had no idea what was going on: "What's OZ?", "Who's the good guy in this story?", "Did that guy just go over to the other side?", "Why did he just kill his own men?". To everyone who has criticized this series for being too complicated, I'll admit: yes, it can be confusing. Yes, it requires a higher attention span than many series. However, I don't think that's a bad thing. This anime has an elaborate plot, filled with twists and political conspiracies, but I believe it's not any more complicated than the world we live in. So, if you're weary of trying to understand reality, why not try your hand at this?

After a couple of weeks, despite still being unsure about a lot of things, I found myself sucked into this series, wanting to know what everyone's next move would be. Sadly, I had to come home before finding out the final outcome. So, once I was back here, I bought the manga. It turned out to be a lot more complicated than the anime, because it was much more fast-paced than the latter, entire episodes sometimes being compressed in a few pages. After several re-readings, I got the general idea, but longed to see the anime again. Normally, I prefer original mangas to animes, but this is the one case where I was more comfortable with the anime's filler-scenes and slower pace. So, I bought the DVD set - a great bargain, too (thank you, Amazon!).

Basic (very basic) plot: in a relatively distant future, humans have built artificial colonies in outer space and settled on them. However, there are severe tensions between the Colonies and the Earth Sphere Alliance, which is actually governed from the inside by the military association OZ (which is in turn governed by the aristocratic Romefeller Foundation, but we don't need to get into that right now). In the year 195 A.C (After Colony), the Colonies have sent five mobile suits (human-shaped battle crafts) called Gundams, piloted by five exceptional young pilots, to rid the Colonies of OZ's oppression.

The five pilots initially don't know each other, and each is trying to deal with the task assigned to him in his own way. Heero Yuy, arguably the main character, starts off as a cold, almost robotic being, who takes his orders without questionning them and to whom failure is the worst possible fate. Duo Maxwell, apparently outgoing and carefree, shows fierce determination in the face of danger. Quatre Raberba-Winner, gentle and sensitive, proves himself to be surprisingly strong and decisive, when called upon. Trowa Barton, arguably the most mysterious of the bunch, appears uncaring and cold, but will come through for his friends when necessary. And Chang Wufei, the proudest of the pilots, considers that strength and honour are the most important thing in the world (for this reason, I consider him to be Gundam W's Vegeta (from Dragonball Z), although I like Vegeta tons more)and will have a long way to go before finding his balance.

Apart from the Gundam pilots, you have Relena Darlian, a pacifist ruler and friend of the Gundams, who tries to obtain peace in a non-violent way (I don't think she's as annoying as others claim). There's also Treize Khushrenada and Zechs Merquise, two prominent members of OZ, who, although they are friends, will eventually go their separate ways. And, the most terrifying character of them all, Colonel Lady Une, who starts off as pure evil, then goes on to reveal a completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) different side of herself.

The reason why this anime can be confusing, apart from the complicated plot (trust me, I haven't told you an eighth of the whole thing), is that nothing is black or white. Characters evolve, their motives become clearer (or less clear) and there are times when you really do wonder who's right, or if there's any right way of doing things in such a situation. Treize and Zechs are the best examples of this: yes, they work for OZ, which is supposed to be the great evil of this story, but then again, they sometimes express feelings and ideals that are completely incompatible with the image of totalitarism the Gundams associate with OZ. Nothing is as simple as good-vs-evil, exactly like in the real world. It really makes you think about what can be considered right, and how to tell right from wrong, and who is even entitled to make that decision.

This is my first Gundam anime (actually, my first Mecha anime), so I really can't compare it with the others. I can, however, say I was surprised by how in-depth the character development was, compared to that in the manga. For example, after reading the manga, I was under the impression that Wufei was seriously under-developped, compared to the other characters; he could have died, and I wouldn't have cared much. However, while watching the anime, I actually developped some form of understanding towards him, because scenes concerning him were added very effectively.

Basically, once I'd popped the first disc into my DVD player, I couldn't stop watching. The complicated plot only added to my enthusiasm. This is a thought-provoking anime that requires your full attention; and, like I said, I think that's a VERY good thing.

Summary: Good Fun
Review: I have seen a lot of Gundam in my time, and I will admit it seems as if most die hard Gundam fans strongly dislike Wing, because of the physics errors, like some times a robot that usuall gets destroyed in one hit can take like 6 when a main character pilots.

But I personally do not care about that, rather I would say that New Mobile Report Gundam Wing (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) is quite an enjoyable Anime, and is good for people who enjoy action and are not totally ready to dive right into some of the deeper mech shows. With that said Gundam Wing excells in Mechanical Desing, the robots are fancy, to use as little words as possible. The cahracters are pretty cool, not THE most fleshed out, but still I can pretty much understand where they are coming from.

If you care about the art style it is pretty good, sure it ain't macross Zero, but it is also not the Original Getter Robot either. Sound is good too.

Would I suguest Gundam wing to people? Yea

For these Reasons I would: Its a good price for so many episodes and discs, its enjoyable, its interesting, and its good for new mech fans.

Summary: Gundam Wing is the best
Review: I recently bought this item and I have never bought a anime box set and wathched it mor the second i rurouni kenshin or hellsing which pale in comparison to this show this isnt your average gundam show it is one of the best gundam shows ever made my hat is off to Hajime Yatatae and Yoshiyuki tomino creators of Gundam Wing if they ever make a gundam series like this again i will buy it. the story of heero yuy and and the othe gundam pilots sent to earth by operation meteor is the best it shows that even the strongest of forces can be defeated meaning oz and the aliance military being defeated by just five mobile suits which dawn excelent mobile suit designs by Kunio Okawara by the way Zechs's voice is the coolest and Duo brings life and comedy to the series the mobile dolls look great as well at least for the gundams to destroy. if you are a gundam fan eva fan or raxphon fan the this will top them in my opinion evas ending wasnt the best. the animation is great especialy twords the artimis revolution and space war at the end of the series i have this box set and i did cost me 200.00 dollars but it was worth every penny. this gundam sseries is the best of them all even over 08th ms team which is a awesome show but it dosnt compare to Gundam wing with an ending note if you want a gundam show with non stop action and will make you want to play a gundam game buy this box set if you have 200.00 dollars for anime. they should also make a gundam wing video game and not fighting but more like encounters in space or journey to jaburo buy this. this is an overall perfect product it brings together every thing you love about gundam. there has never been such an awesome gundam series.

Summary: One of my favorite anime
Review: This has to be one of the best anime of all time. In my opion it is my second favorite of all time. It is just under ronin warriors. Gundam wing is the best gundam anime out there. The reason that it is so good is because of the 5 main piolts. by the end of the serios u feel like u know the them. No other gundam show made me feel like that. I have not bought the dvds but i have seen every episiode. If u like anime and giant robots and deep story u will like gundam wing.
