Summary: Nothing wrong with 3 CD Set
Review: I bought my DVD's from Amazonplace for $19.99 for the 3 CD set, The package is awesome, It definately doesnt look ahem "Bootleg" Even tho it is... For the casual viewer this set is great. The sound is excellent, Tho the Quality of the video is "TV" Basically the same as the original Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect collection. I should have bought the import version of those.... saving a ton of cash is great. I watch these while I exercise. If your a stubborn anime otaku then the boxed 3 DVD set isnt for you, If your just looking for content, then there is no problem at all. I was leary at first but I'll have no problem buying anymore of these cheap import box sets. Oh... and I saw no problem with Subtitles as other people stated ^_^

Summary: Avoid 3 disk ripoff "imports"
Review: Trigun is one off the best, if not THE best of the "adult swim" series of toons. The FULL boxed set for Trigun is 8 DVD's. The various "imports" that are offered are only 3 DVD's. The 3 disk set I bought from Eckool via Amazon is missing episodes, contains defective disks and defaults to the Japanese lanuage. A true rippoff. Go for the "real" boxed set.

Summary: the 3 Disc sets are bootlegs from Hong Kong
Review: Beware, the 3 Disc Sets are Bootlegs. Do not buy them unless you want to suffer bad subtitles and inferior DVD video encoding.

I suggest that's what happened to the M.A.C. poster below.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: M.A.C. is Ghetto
Review: As anyone with a 3rd grade reading level can glean from the above and below reviews, the series itself is pretty good. I think its great. If you want information on the series, look to another review. If you care about whether or not the DVD you purchase is glitchy, badly translated and organized by kindergarteners, stay on the line. I, Burke of the infinite wisdom, am here to rant about the ghettoness that is M.A.C., or the Manga Anime whosiwhatsit (most likely Corporation) that produced and released the said DVD. I have no other experience with M.A.C., so my review be biased. Buuuuut, their Trigun collection is horrible. Let me begin in a colorful, flowing narrative that will charm ages young and old, accompanied by a "GRR" count to track the number of times I was so frustrated I uttered an audible growl. Or maybe the number of times I wanted to kill a man in reckless anger. *Ahem.*

I opened the package to find a cardboard DVD case. Grr. Alright, that happens sometimes... so I tried opening it. It is REALLY hard to slide in and out of the cardboard sleeve, not that I'm that anal, but after you hear the rest, you'll see why every little detail grates me like thousands of tiny little knives. (The elves wield them, you'll see.) Grr. So a few days later I had time to watch an episode. The images printed on the DVDs are pixellated (Grr) and I find that the episode or "chapter" guide is physically impossible to navigate if you have A.D.D. (GRR! Why me, God?? WHYY!!) So M.A.C. (stands for "Massacre and Carnage") thought it would be cute to have the guide layout switch with every episode, and have moving pictures in every little box, and sometimes a moving background, and the cursor is hard to see and moves in a weird pattern...The confusion and terror took me back to my days in Nam. Grr=10, (bonus for snarling due to war memories)

So, like a scorned lover, I got over it...not that I make love to my dvds...wow I'm never using rhetorical devices ever again. Bad metaphor. Forget I said it. So anyway, after staring at the flashing screen in a semi-catatonic state for a little over an hour, I chose an episode. (Grr=drooling) To switch languages, there is a detailed process you must follow (at least on my jank player) I won't go into that, but it involves a lot of backtracking, along with strategery and tact, none of which I retain the capacity for when I'm in an "I WANNA WATCH JAPANESE CARTOONS UNTIL MY BRAINS FREAKING BLOW UP!" mood. (Grr=25 "baka baka baka!")

Ok, so watching watching drooling and watching...then BZZT---
Me: Gaa! *twitch* Did...did you just see that?
My friend: Um...I think your TV just had an aneurism. Or a seizure maybe...I wouldn't know, I'm not a plumber.
Me: Well the connection's good and the player's fine, and the DVD's brand new!
My friend: Maybe it's from a ghetto company. Just because it has pretty artwork doesn't mean its proffessional quality.
Me: Grrrrrr...

And there you have it, the birth of the "MAC is Ghetto" theory. It's somewhere up with the "Vibrating String" theory, only more important. So yeah, the BZZZACT *snap* seizure thing happens a lot, and you can't view some parts. The dvd gets stuck on one of the previews, but that's ok...it's when it glitches during an episode that bothers me.
Grr= *sizzle* <--(that's my brain frying)

So I thought "Hey, I'll watch it in Japanese with subtitles, maybe I'll feel cultured!" Yeah. So I spend 4 and a half YEARS messing with the language settings before I finally get the damned thing to bend to my will, then I find out what's wrong with the subtitles. Wee. Ok, there are multiple repeated spelling errors (really big ones too, like leaving all of the vowels out of a word), some lines have no spaces between words soitsreallyhardtoread, likethis. The grammer is shoddy, but intelligible. Sometimes a meaning will be pretty unclear, but the translators tried their damndest and you can guess. But sometimes, the translators just didn't know what to do, so they wrote #NAME?? in big black letters across the bottom of the screen. And that's when I stopped believing in God. (or maybe just the human race...but I was still emotionally crippled.)

<cut to: the author is in a kitchen, frying eggs in a pan>
This is your brain on drugs...this is your brain after buying from M.A.C. Observe that there is little difference.
Grr=aLL yOuR bAsE aR bELonG 2 uS

So, the final judgement? M.A.C. is run by pre-pubescent monkeys...and I hate them. Now for the "Grr" tally!

Grr: *BZZZZAAACKT!* #NAME??? <--(English translation of the popular Japanese saying, "Many many rivers overflowing with displeasure")

M.A.C.: -1000...and condemnation to the 8th circle of hell (with the grafters, counterfeiters and sowers of discord! Yay!)

Well, that's all the time I have for today, folks.
(With revolting amounts of personal affection)

Summary: Rest In Peace Wolfwood
Review: Im writing this review after having just seen the "Paradise" episode - and after having just cried for the first time since i can remember at at any story. There i said it. Stop laughing. I dont care. Haha.
Seriously though...wow. Im just about to finish my junior doctor year and this series has kept me going through the worst and most degrading year ever for me. I've filtered each episode slooowly as theyve progressed - watching and re-watching them cos i just dont want to rush something thats been such a revelation to me.
I've only ever seen cowboy bebop as a series other than this (seen lots of anime films though) but im still a newbie, i only started last year when i moved in with a hong kong guy in uni halls (ken - i owe you mate wherever you are). Im in England and the childish scorn i have to smile at when i tell someone im really falling in love with anime/manga is a real anger-maker - especially when their idea of an interesting story is to watch the british soaps that frankly, would make me want to hang myself if i could make it past the depressing title music. From reading these reviews it seems the american audience has a greater appreciciation of what animation can be, although, seen as though your country is also responsible for buffy, im not gonna jump to conclusions.
Anyhoo - what can i say about trigun? These reviews ive read pretty much cover it. To those reviewers that cant stand it cos they cant stand vash's pacifism - well, lol, what does that tell you about yourself? hahaha. And may i just say that I, for one, absolutely ADORE the expressionistic animation that has a character pulling a fantastic face, and sharping from serious to silly in a millysecond. You either get it or you dont - dont criticise it if you dont - a "western" animation would never have the cahunas to try something so overtly experimental, though in japan its probably not so new.
Anway, ive realised i havent said anything about the best stuff - i've loved the characters, all of them - vash is truly one of the all time greatest heroes ive encountered, in any from of story telling - in fact, hes such a "golden" hero that im astounded that no other story has used a similar idea for a hero before (not one ive seen anyway lol), and wolfwood, well, im choking up just typing his name so im gonna stop there.
I feel like i wish i could tell you so much more but its 2.35 at night and frankly, the only way to do it justice is to watch it. Words arent sufficient.
And i still have to see the last three ones!!! You know when you're approaching the end of a story that you know will stay with you forever and you cant bear that its gonna finish soon...
This state of mind is what storytelling can be, at its pinnacle.
Love and peace ;)

Summary: Maribel, about the 3 DVD "version"
Review: Maribel, the 3 DVD version is a pirate copy (bootleg), dont buy that.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: great anime!!
Review: Many people compare it to the Rurouni Kenshin series, but its more like a mix between City Hunter and Cowboy Bebop. So if you like either one of these, give Trigun a shot.

Summary: The Best Anime In Existance.
Review: By All definitions known to me Trigun Is the single greatest Anime ever. Filles with Excitement, Great Storyling Development, And A never ending supply of entriguing characters, I just cant get enough of it, I being the one who has watched the boxed set strait through several times (not all in a row obviously though). I HIGHLY recommend this anime for any one just getting into it or to the heart animatrons. Oh and who wouldnt kill for vashes hair?

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: I _really_ wanted to like Trigun....
Review: ...but liking it would have required more from the production team. Trigun has all the ingredients for a great anime; potentially interesting characters, a post-apocalyptic world that engages and drags you in from the beginning, acceptable animation, and (usually) good music that (usually) fits all three.

The feel of history and recovery-from-catastrophe that the world has was well done on a visual level. The remains of enormous walls from some prior, glorious civilization overshadowed entire towns, which were set up in an old-west style. Unfortunately, the animators were too good for the scriptwriters, and the samurai stuff and the 1920's jazz scene stuff doesn't fit with the old west stuff doesn't fit with the biker cyberpunk doesn't fit with the star trek crash-landing on an alien planet stuff.

From the first episode, until the 17th, you're subjected to these horrible jokes that destroy the post-apocalyptic feel and stunt character growth. The story oscillates from that ridiculous humor to intense seriousness so quickly that it just doesn't take itself seriously enough for the viewer to.

The post-apocalyptic theme isn't given the space it deserves, so by the time the mysteries about the world's past are answered, you haven't had your appetite whetted enough to be terribly interested.

The character development is poor, not because the characters didn't have the potential for depth, but because the script feels like it was written by a bunch of 13 year old dorks who do nothing but play videogames. The concept for the series obviously did not come from the scriptwriters.

Bottom line: NOT recommended. Only for certain types of freakishly devoted immature anime fans. Save your time and your money and watch Cowboy Bebop, or Wolf's Rain, or Neon Genesis Evangelion, or something worthy.

Summary: need some help
Review: This isn't a review for the product. I would like to know if anyone could tell me what's the difference between this box set and the 3 dvd box set.
