Summary: Now THAT'S an anime
Review: I am a huge anime fan and Trigun is exactly what I have been looking for since I was first introduced to the anime scene. In contrast with the anime which is most well known in America, (Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z) Trigun has a well developed plot, A peaceful minded hero, huge energy blasts only when absolutely necessary, and a sence of style like no other. If you thought an anime western was just too far fetched, think again. Trigun does it and does it beautifully.

Summary: WOW!
Review: I started watching this back in September and even with the first 4 episodes I was impressed. This is my favoret anime series of all time now! I'm going to make this VERY basic. It's about a man who destroyed the city of July on a desert planet. He is Vash the Stampede(Severem). With that a $$(dubble-dollar)60,000,000,000 bounty was placed on him...dead or alive. But somthings strange about him, he dosn't like killing anyone or people killing eachother. 2 insurrance women are given the job to follow Vash and make shure he dosn't cause anymore trouble(or the insurrance company's money). They are Meril Strife and Milly Thompson. Well, I don't wanna tell you more cuz I don't wanna go into spoilers.

Summary: Vash the Stampede - More Than a Pretty Face!
Review: There's so much to say that I don't know where to start! Trigun is, without a doubt, one of the best Animes ever! There are so many hidden meanings in the show, so many morals and ethics to pick up that it's almost smothering. Vash the Stampede, a horrible fiend with the price of -count it- $$60,000,000,000 (Sixty Billion Double Dollars) is wanted for murder and the destruction of July, one the biggest cities on the desert planet! How could such a cute little geek get into so many disasters?! Trigun, at a first glance, might seem like the regular violent yet funny Anime with the handsome main character, but really it tries to convey that Vash believes that there are other ways to solve a dilemma other than to simply kill it. If he's faced with a problem, that seems that there is no other way out than to kill his opponent, he'll sacrifice his sanity for the safety of the other! He will literally put himself on the line and fight to the very end to save a life, no matter how small the life may seem. I mean, what kind of heartless killer would Vash be if everyone found out that he basically cried himself to sleep every night! I'd hate to see how many tissues he goes through. I know I went through a lot, while watching the series. It's so well put together, the characters are loveable, the plot is so thick and let's face it, Vash's red coat? Gotta love it!
What I really love about the series, is how it began out being so hilarious, but gradually the viewer got pulled into Vash and his struggle to stay alive, and sane. It begins to get real serious, and you begin to realize how messed up Vash seems, and can see how he wears a mask on his face everyday to hide his pain. But don't worry, it still has it's humor in it, throughout the series. So even after you've been up all night mourning over something that just happened, I promise you, there'll be something to lift you up in the end. It's a wonderful series, and please, if you're even remotely thinking about checking it out, DO IT. You'll fall in love with the very first episode. I know I did! LOVE AND PEACE!!!

Summary: lack of consitent visual art and incomplete storyline..
Review: After watching the whole Trigun series, I learned to appreciate Cowboy Bebop much more. It shows how directors and artist really put forth the effort to make such beautiful artistic masterpiece.. and just how does Trigun stand against Bebop?? Not even close..
I purchased whole trigun pak for... moolah's after reading all the good overrated biased reviews. I should of known better but I don't regret it, but I just don't think that Trigun is worth [money]..

Story revolves around Vash the Stampede a.k.a. "The Humanoid Typhoon" with a bounty of $60 billion on his head. Total chaos and destruction follows him where ever he goes (well, usually caused by bounty hunters..). Bernardelli Insurance Society decides to sends two insurance agents (Meryl Stryfe and Millie Thompson) to investigate, prevent, and control damages that are caused by the "Humanoid Typhoon." Along the way, they meet up a gun-totin' preacher named Nicholas Wolfwood, who like Vash, will have you laughing and cheering at the same time.

Just like any other Jap. animation series, typical slapstick humor is present along with slow paced plot and character developement. Certain scenes just made me ROFL my butt off.. but the problem is not so much in the storyline, but inconsistent art work. After second episodes, you notice many flaws in the art right away (if you don't or can't see the difference, then you haven't seen anything better or just plain blind and stupid). The musical score gets tedious and annoying with a simple bland of rock guitar intro, but it DOES pick up near the end (there's nothing here that you would want to download). At least you'd expect a solid storyline with detailed character developement?? Not quite.. Trigun does a descent job of character developement, but never quite answers such questions as, what is Vash the Stampede?? human? alien? robot? How did two simple insurance agents know how use weapons with such skills?? Was Knives ever injured enough to send his goons to inflict pain?? If not, why is he in the recovery tank thingy with just parts of him showing like he was decapitated?? There are tons of questions that Trigun fails to answer and yet, they waste four or five volumes on a meaningless filler episodes filled with morality issues that Vash lives by. Couldn't they used half of those episodes to show more background info on how Vash gained such talent and skills (dodging bullets in blank range and shooting skills) instead of clips and flashbacks of his past that only answers his morality issues??

Trigun is a typical comedy/action/dramatic anime genre that are the root of Japanese Anime/Manga. It stands out in many ways because it does contain an intriguing storyline along with some memorable characters, but not enough to be ranked as one of the best anime series ever. I personaly enjoyed watching Trigun series, but I truly felt as I was watching a rough draft of what would be re-written, re-edit with better art work to be one of the best.. then realized this was the finished product. Maybe I was expecting too much, but if people claim this anime series to be "the best ever" then wouldn't the "best ever" anime series fill my cup of expectations with ease?? As disgruntledpoet put it best, "I don`t know what makes people obsessive about bad animation series, perhaps it`s because they`ve never seen anything beter, perhaps they`re so entangled in their subculture that they do it out of instinct, or maybe their all just stupid. I`m guessing on the latter, because this is the fith enormously popular anime series I`ve been recomended by god knows how many fans, and the fith that has dissapointed me." I wouldn't call trigun BAD.. but good (not best) with lot of flaws.

Summary: a rare find........
Review: Captivating. the only word that fully describes this wonderful series. the beginning introduces you to the happy go lucky outlaw, Vash the stampede, wanted for the complete destruction of an entire city. He travels the desert planet, in search of peace and the elusive mayfly of love (or something like that)
two women from the insurence company get charged with stopping him from ever causing damage again, though in the immortal words of Nicholas D. Wolfwood, "when your around things always get worse!" This series has something for every one, love, gunslingin' action, humor, tragedy, and finding the resolve to take a hold of ones destiney.
you met friends and foes alike, old and new, all woven masterfully into this incredible series. It transends all genres, and breaks the barrier for future animation.
if you're looking for an experience, of raw emotion and power, or just for a few laughs, chances are you won't find better than this series.

Summary: Run!!!!
Review: Why should you run? Vash the Human Typhoon is headed your way! Well, you shouldn't run away from buying the DVD set, since this is a wonderful series (to be explained in a bit), but when townspeople see our hero Vash and realize he's THE Vash that leveled many towns in his wake, they often run for their lives, or break out the weapons in an attempt to collect the 60,000,000,000 $$ on his head. The series centers around the journies of Vash, two insurnace agents sent to follow Vash to do damage control (to save the company from paying too much out in damages caused by Vash), and a handsome traveling priest who carries a big cross wrapped in white cloth. One also can't mention the series without referring to the black cat that appears in every episode of the series (even the flash back scenes?!) What _is_ the significance of this cat? The "inside joke" quality of the cat, along with Vash's comical personalities in the early episodes sets up the series as a humor series. After several episodes, the viewers get hints that Vash is much more than a bumbling idiot. The show takes a darker turn significantly in episode 17, when Vash's childhood is revisited. That is when Vash's past, his current quest, and the villian's motivations become clear. The humor that entertained us in the early episodes are still there in the later episodes (along with the cat), but we get a more intimate portrait of Vash's feelings--he's FAR from the carefree bumbling guy we thought we met in episode 1--as the villians takes a larger role in the series. Overall this is a fabulous series. Fans of Cowboy Bebop would most likely also like this series (probably why they sell the two boxed sets in a bundle.) Highly recommended! AHH! Look out over your shoulder! It's VASH! (well, if I did see Vash, I'd probably run over and give him a Ranma-styled "Glomp!" hug ^_^)

Summary: "Love and Peace" Amidst the Ruins
Review: "Trigun" is a completely unuasual paradox in anime. It boasts violence and action, yet the main hero is not a violent man. In fact, he's pretty much...a dork. He never fires a shot until the fifth episode, he always runs away from battle, he never kills anyone, he doesn't like the sight of blood, and seems to be always getting himself in some kind of trouble. All of which makes Vash the Stampede one of the greatest anime character of all time.

"Trigun" is the third Japanese take on the "sci-fi western" in 1998. The first being the enormous "Cowboy Bebop," and the second being "Outlaw Star." Only difference with them and "Trigun" is that "Trigun" tends to be more western than the other two. The world is basically a "western Tatooine" with five moons, no aliens, and a [lot] of bandits, thugs, asassins and whatevers.

Although, at times the story can get a bit too "cliched," (it happens so few that it's hardly noticeable) the heart of "Trigun" lies within the characters. The comical and oft-harrassed insurance ladies Meryl and Milly, the gun-toting life-loving priest Nicholas Wolfwood, the impressively scary Legato Bluesummers, the multi-interesting set of side-characters (especially the Gung-Ho Guns) and of course Vash. A man who's past lays shrouded in mystery, with a heart of gold, yet is still labeled as the most dangerous gunman ever.

I cannot get too far into this otherwise I will end up spoiling this anime-classic, but take my word for it. Watch "Trigun." And remember, "LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE AND PEACE!!!!!!!!"
