Summary: Some great elements, but inconsistant story
Review: Trigun is an exercise in style over substance... but the style is pretty incredible. This series has a lot of great elements working for it: cool character designs, hilarious comedy, great action scenes, and an interesting storyline. The problem is that these elements are not very gracefully mixed together. The first half of the series focuses too much on the comedy, then the second half gets serious too quickly. It's almost like you're dealing with two different series. There are a lot of people who like the comedy but not the serious story, and vice versa. Not many fans like the two styles of the series equally well, which is unfortunate.

Things I liked about Trigun: the character designs and animation style are great, the characters were well developed, the unique setting, the comedy in the beginning is hilarious, the ending of the series is solid.

Things I didn't like: the pacing of the story, the change from comedy to serious is too abrupt, the underlying message sometimes comes off as being trite, some problems with compression on the DVDs.

Overall, there is enough to like that I enjoyed the series despite some flaws. I would recommend Trigun to my friends with a caveat: "set your expectations a notch lower, this isn't a top-tier anime series like Cowboy Bebop or Escaflowne." Also, the themes in Trigun are similar enough to Rurouni Kenshin, that you might find that series' stronger story more engaging.

Summary: Great story, bad production.
Review: This is an intriguing piece of work. The characters and storyline are original and entertaining, and the number of unanswered questions keep everything flowing. Trigun is one of the top three anime that I know.
The English dubbing is odd. On one level, the voices are almost horribly mis-matched with their Japanese counterparts. In the fourth episode a key character turns from a perky late-teen into a young-looking old woman who says Daddy a lot dependeing on the audio. The lines are twisted around as well. However, after the first half-dozen painfully dubbed episodes, Pioneer gets its act together and develops lines and voices that, while still markedly different from the original, are at least valid. Of all the dubs I've heard, this is the worst. The non-episode bits on the DVDs are not worth looking at.

As for story specifics, this is not a comedy. This is a debate on the issues of lethal force, capital punishment, vengence, and mercy. Even the worst of humanity can be redeemed. If the process allows further atrocity, is it worth it? Those who watch this walk away with their beliefs challanged. In the world of Trigun there are no simple answers, only questions.

Summary: Trigun blasts!
Review: This show really does blast you out of this world...into a world of dust, and the life of Vash the Stampede. Okay I'm done wih cheesiness. I'd give you a summary but you can already read those just about everywhere, and if I were to give a summary, I'd be tempted to spill it all. Suffice to say this is something that is a great experience. I have friends who don't like anime, watch this and want to watch anime all the time. Such is the power of "love and peace". All the characters are awesome. Special faves are Milly, Wolfwood, and of course Vash. Also tho, I don't know why everyone gets on Legato's back...just cuz he's evil doesn't mean you can't like him. And would anyone like to explain to me what happens to Brilliant Dynamites Neon or whatever his name is? But even with these questions this is not a series I'll soon forget...especially because I own it.

Summary: Wild West without any East...
Review: You may be confused by the title Trigun. In fact, this has nothing at all to do with the series, although some cases could be argued as far as its meaning. You'll start watching this series and be confused as first, but set your mind free. On a desert world scorched by 2 suns and orbited by 5 moons, people have regressed back to the ways of the Wild West, and every aspect is disturbing at first, but thats the fun of it all in the world of Trigun.

Vash the Stampede is an outlaw with a $$60,000,000,000 reward on his head, dead or alive, because of the complete destruction of the city of July. He gets the last part of his name because mass destruction tends to follow him, although its never caused by him. As the series opens up, Vash comes across as being happy-go-lucky, full of luck, and not very bright at all. When the insurance girls first come in contact with him, they can't believe that it really is Vash, because when they think of an outlaw, they imagine a dangerous person. He doesn't come across as being Vash because he doesn't act as how his reputation puts him. However, this is only one side of Vash. You'll have to wait until episode 5 until you see the other side of Vash, the side that is deadly serious, intelligent, angry, frustrated, and has excellent marksmanship. The reality is that Vash is not an outlaw; in fact, he tries to help everyone he comes across, and although everyone says that he kills people, Vash has never killed anything in his life, and he agonizes over everyone who dies along side of him. You'll probably never see another male, main character cry as much as he does, but he never cries without a good reason. To quote Meryl talking about Vash: "Everyone who has become involved with him, has somehow gained an emotion they had once lost."

Meryl Stryfe is one of the disaster investigators sent after Vash by the Bernadelli Insurance agency. Her job, as well as Milly's, is to prevent the agency from losing money by following Vash and stopping whatever destruction may come. She is very "by the book" and intent, but will get angry when things don't go right. She doesn't believe that Vash really is Vash until episode 5, and she doesn't stop beating on him until later episodes when she lightens up to him. Further in the series, she begins to develop feelings for Vash, but tries to hide them.

Milly Thompson is Meryl's partner from the Bernadelli Insurance agency. Unlike Meryl though, Milly is very childlike, but kind and patient. She is dedicated to the ideology taught by her family, those of justice and doing the right thing. However, while Milly may be an airhead, she is much sharper than many of the other characters in the cast (Vash sums it up with the quote: "My only savior is that she doesn't know how smart she really is!"). She rarely demonstrates this side though, but its quite apparent throughout the series.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood may say that he is a priest, a man of "god"; this may be the case. However, this priest wields some pretty heavy firepower, topped off with an elaborate, heavy cross that is actually a portable arsenal (he says that its so heavy because it carries so much mercy), and marksmanship thats second only to Vash. He is a traveling priest in the name of an orphanage near December City, and by the way he treats children and those in need, he has a huge heart and is willing to bend over backwards to help as much as he can. He'll come in and out of the series numerous times, and its safe to say that he's one of Vash's true friends. You may even find yourself beginning to love Nicholas more than Vash by the end of episode 23.

The music in Trigun is sparse. To elaborate on that point, there isn't a wide variety, and it doesn't add much to any scenes, but the scenes are already full of so much other stuff that they may even seem out of place at times. The english dubbing, however, is quite superb, and even fans of subs may enjoy the english dubbing more. The animation in the series, I will admitt, feels as if its lacking in the beginning, but it adds its own spice to the series, and you'll get used to it quickly.

If you are or aren't an anime fan, Trigun is a good series to check out. Its an excellent mix of comedy, action, and drama, as well as creating an universe that comes alive. The storyline flows throughout, and while there are a few side episodes, they still tie into the main plot, and only help to enhance characters. If you see Trigun, you'll quickly realize that its worth all five stars.

Summary: My Favorite Anime EVER
Review: I really don't know what I can say about this series. The characters are perfect (most of them), the animation is good enough, and I loved the music. I got this box set last week, and it's like watching a gift from God. I've seen it several times, and I still love it. All the people who have reviewed have done a better job than me at saying this, BUT GO BUY IT. Also note: even though some people may like Cowboy Bebop more, try this one out.

Summary: LOVE AND PEACE!!
Review: Trigun is definitely the most touching movie i have ever seen. The show is more of a comedy/action type of show...a bit like Inu-yasha the doggie demon! There may not be serious action the whole time, but when there is, its good. every episode will make you laugh out loud! But here are some episodes that can break your heart and put you in tears(better have a dry towel). But still. Trigun is the best. It's AWESOME and worth every penny. And who can ever hate the doughnut consuming Vash? Once you get into this anime, you get totally addicted and you just can't get enough.

LOVE AND PEEEEEEEEEEAAAAACCCCE!

Summary: A comedic and action packed anime!
Review: I watched the entire series of Trigun and it was amazing. I enjoyed every moment of this funny yet at times serious anime. Vash the Stampede is the name he is known by but you can call him the 60 billion dollar man. Vash fights to defeat his brother Knives who is determined to rid the world of humans. Knives sees humans as inferior beings whom have no real purpose. Vash faces a gang of fighters on his journey through town after town trying to get closer to his destiny (that is, defeating Knives). The name that these fighters go by is The Gunho-Guns. That's a pretty cool name and the fighters are pretty cool themselves. Of course there's a twist in the plot when one of the Gunho-Guns turns out to be__ Well you'll just have to watch Trigun to find that out. There are plenty more suspenseful twists as the series goes on.
Look out for the coolest minister that you'll ever see (excluding The Preacher from a popular comic book)in any animation. The minister in black aka Nicholas Wolfwood. This guy has guns, a cross, and a million dollar smile! The fire power that this guy packs is unbelievable! He just wants to save the children, go figure.

Watching Vash come from being a funny and jerky guy to a cool, calm, and frightening assassin is worth watching this entire series episode by episode. At first this anime will seem silly but after the first episode the veil of ignorance is lifted. There are many twists and turns in this high energy anime that you just can't pass up! Buy it now!

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Seriously, Trigun has to be one of the best animes ever. It's incredibly original, is action packed, and keeps you hooked the entire time. This is the biggest purchase i can ever remember making to this date (except a computer), and it was well worth it. I've watched every DVD in this collection at least twice, if not 3 times, it's so good. If you're going to either start watching a new anime or you've already seen some of Trigun, get this! Love and Peace!
