Summary: Add it all up
Review: If u have seen Matrix Reloaded, i will tell u that it is true what they say. To get the whole story u must watch the animatrix, play enter the matrix, and see the Matrix Reloaded. After doing all three everything will come together. So do so............ this movie is a must have along with enter the matrix game

Summary: must see
Review: besides Flight of Osirius - my favorite

the 2nd renaisance films and the rest add to the matrix experiment.

These aren't feel-good happy cartoons, but seriously deep, dramatic and even tragic films that will make you think.

this collection is art

Summary: retro
Review: Ok,Ok. Pretentious in my book. Check out the original Heavy Metal. Alot more interesting and fun and, who knows, possibly one of the inspirations for Animatrix.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not nearly as significant as the first movie
Review: The Animatrix is worth a watch, something no hardcore Matrix fan should go without. The animation is original and gives you that strange sense of unease and suspense, as a collaborative effort of different artists from different countries. However, it's not exactly something you'd want to watch again, unlike the first movie (maybe the second movie). In the style of "The Matrix Reloaded," most of the Animatrix short films have no solid story - as many have said about "Reloaded," "they try to cover up a bad plot [or no plot] by confusing you." As much as you'd like to convince yourself that you're watching a deep and thought-provoking short film with great animation, it's impossible. Though the random images and slick beats are pleasant enough to watch, there's not a whole lot else to the Animatrix.

Summary: Must Have
Review: For those of you that didnt like "World Record" its because it is the only short that requires abstract thought. Go back and watch it again. Im not going to spoil it for others, watch it again, it makes perfect sense.

Summary: Animatrix is DA BOMB!!!
Review: This movie is great for people that like to have all of their questions answered about the Matrix. This is a masterpeice. 9 short films are all or pretty much all depressing, but if you think about it the Matrix itself is a depressing story. So there is a lack of happy endings in the 9 short films. But there is a story in particular that is called World Record, which is in fact the most emotional gripping story. I'm not going to ruin the story for you, but if you get this DVD then you will check it out for yourself and probably even agree with me. I love this DVD, compiled of 9 short films.

Summary: Can words describe it?!!
Review: This DVD is incredible!! An absolute must for the Matrix fan, anime fan, or just plain fun fan!! Everyone who comes over gets a taste of Final Flight of the Osiris on the big screen, surround sound. Even people who haven't even seen the Matrix sat in awe as the episode's roller coaster ride swept them away. Along with the extras and other awesome episodes, this is one of the great DVDs in my collection!

Summary: A mixed bag of goodies.
Review: It's hard to top the animated short "The Last Flight of the Osirus". It is simply one of the best rendered animations you can find anywhere. The rest are a mixed bag of good and mediocre animations and stories. Some appear to be hand drawn with low frame counts, others approach the better quality animations out there today. I think it would have been a better choice to put the best one last, but maybe they thought we'd turn it off before we got that far.

I have another complaint on the packaging. I bought the gift box set that comes with the sound CD. I'm not sure they do this with the single, but this set included a cardboard covered DVD case, which I hate. I realize they put these things out to save money, and I have no problem with them when done with older DVDs that are going to get [$$$] or less. I just hate it when they put them out for new releases where you are paying a premium. I like a good long wearing case for my collection, and these cardboard things just don't make the grade.

One the plus side, the voice acting of the DVD shorts is very good. Some of the Matrix movie actors, even the stars do stints as voice actors in a few of the episodes. There are other voice actors from some of the major anime production houses. I even spotted a few Star Trek alumni doing some voice work on the production.

On the whole only about half the stories caught my interest. I still give it a marginal thumbs up, with appologies to Roger Ebert, and the Roman rulers who perhaps first used the gesture.

Summary: The Animatrix: a must have for any Matrix fan
Review: Final Flight of the Osiris: Many people liked this short alot. I have to admit the CGI was great but I thought it was lacking. It was very short and didn't really explain anything we don't know. But it is worth watching.

The second renaissance parts I and II: These two shorts had to be my favorite on the DVD. They were AWESOME. The animation was beautiful and I loved the narration and whole explanation of how it was humans who were responsible for the beginning of The Matrix. Watch it and many things will be clear to you. Kind of a prequel to The Matrix movie.

Kid's Story- If you have seen Reloaded and was at all interested in the kid who claimed Neo saved his life you will definitely want to see this short. It shows what happened and how the kid is tied to Neo. I personally enjoyed this one. The animation was very very nice and I just thought it was an excellent addition to the explanation of Reloaded.

Program- I liked it because I didn't find it at all predictable. I didn't know where it was going and until the end you are left kind of confused. A 3 out of 5 rating for this one.

World Record- I definitely did NOT like this one AT ALL. It was bland and the character was not appealing. I only watched it once and maybe i didn't get the jist of it but I didn't find it appealing enough to watch again.

Beyond- Many people enjoyed this one saying it was "touching" but i thought it pointless. I guess it was "cute" but other then that, not much point to it.

A Detective Story- I LOVED this one! If you like Trinity you are in for a treat, the only short which features a character from the movies (besides a short appearance by Neo in "Kid's story"). It's filmed in black and white and gives it a styliazed feel. Not much explanation about where Trinity is from or her real name though...

Matriculated- I didn't enjoy this one much. Characters weren't all that great. Very bizzare. But deep meaning, i suppose.

So in conclusion, This DVD was jam packed with excellent shorts and I recommend it for any Matrix fan! It's a must have!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining, but not very great.
Review: I liked some of the stories. I disliked others. I liked more than I disliked, which is a good thing. I really liked the one that made no sense and it had the monkey in it. That was neat. I liked the one about the haunted house, too. It's cool if you're a Matrix fan.
