Rating: Summary: Spectacular in effects; droopy in story Review: What I loved about this hit is the effects. I myself attend college in Alabama and was caught in a tornado a few weeks ago. I have the scars on my head to show it, but after seeing this I knew what to expect to happen but I didn't think the thing would drop its ugly end just a few hundred feet from campus and slam me into a brick wall. However, this film is one of my favorites and my family loves it. I love the music and the soundtrack. But the story could use some work. I have yet to see a disaster film with a firm and solid story to equal the power of the special effects. "TITANIC" is the best one so far but even the script in that could use some polishing...
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING SOUND. Review: This is one of the most beautiful sounding DVD's in existence, I believe. The images are outsta- nding! HIGHLY recommended! I have over 140 DVD's and this is the one I show to the "New Comers" of DVD. BUY IT!!!
Rating: Summary: Bad Nature Flick Review: Twister is a film that relies mainly on special effects than plot. The usually good Michael Crichton seemed to mess somewhere along the way, adding to many stupid subplots. The special effects in this movie are great, but the stale acting is horrible and you just wish this movie would end. I thought Dante's Peak was a lot better.
Rating: Summary: stupid movie cliches and physical impossibilities Review: Maybe its just my personality but I hate movies like this. I really did give this movie a chance. But the more I watched the I saw these stupid little scenes. If you've seen this movie you know what I'm talking about. Maybe you were able to tolerate it but I just could'nt. One after another stupid things kept happening. Here are some examples: Why did helen hunts dad try so hard to keep that door shut, he could've gone back with his family and lived just like they did. How did that yellow jeep go up into the air, land on its top, and not have any windows broken. Can a person really run next to a picket fence as bord are being pulled from it and not get picked up themselve. Can a person tie themselve to a metal bar with a belt in the middle of a tornado and not get ripped limb from limb. Why did did I hear a lions roar when the tornado came by one time. aside from all of these stupid events the movie truly did have a stupid plot. this is one of the 5 worst movies I have ever seen.
Rating: Summary: this movie portraites a real storm with a tornato in it. Review: This movie is like real life stuff. This is like your there or you helped the creating of the movie its very uplifting, but very supprising at the same time.
Rating: Summary: This movie rides upon its effects Review: Twister is a fairly decent movie. Whoever says the plot is great, stop and think: was there a plot? It played out like a soap opera. The interplay between the characters is stupid treacle, the "script" was probably written on the back of a napkin. They finally get the DOROTHY up in the tornado, becuase jeez, I didn't see that one coming. And the bad guys got what they deserved- death. Come on, they're doing it to earn a living instead for the "love" of weather. Watch it for the effects, like you watch Jerry Springer for the fights. Next time there's a thunderstorm, talk to someone while standing out in the rain and you can make a sequel.....
Rating: Summary: Nice Visuals but POOR sound. Review: This is a great movie if you like unrealistic plots. One minute, a tornado is less than a mile away and the next minute, the sun is shining . . . Dumb. The visual effects are superbly done (probably Speilberg's doing) but the audio recording onto DVD is lousy. The rear channels are muffled and not much information is sent to them. The center channel is also a dissapointment. We all buy DVD's to get superb audio and sound but the dialog is completely lost is many scenes and you have to strain to hear what is being said. The Left and Right channels drown the center, even if you move the center channel volume up. The sound is disapointing, the visuals are nice, and the story is weak.
Rating: Summary: This movie is totally awesome! Review: Twister has great effects (and sound), catchy lines, a good plot, great supporting actors. What more could you want? On top of all these aspects of the movie you have top people working on it, Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton. I loved the fast pace of this movie. If you like action-packed thrillers, this is the movie for you. This movie ranks up there with all the great classics. Totally two thumbs up.
Rating: Summary: An insult to the intelligence Review: Another lousy summer flick, with lots of special effects and no script. Deeply offensive, and even plagiaristic. The movie steals elements from a National Geographic special about tornadoes. There is one scene in which the good guys vilify the bad guy (we know he is the villain because he drives a black shiny van -- so much for character development) because he sold out for money. He has left the true faith of tornado chasing and works for a big company for lots of money. Think about that. A film produced by Steven Spielberg, with a screenplay by Michael Crichton, that includes the most blatant example of Pepsi product-placement yet seen, explicitly condemns people who do things for money. Is this Self-Flagellating Guilt, or Sheer Hypocrisy? Three guesses, and the first two don't count.
Rating: Summary: An Average Movie Review: This movie is way too overrated. It is not very exciting and it is too predictable. This movie could have been better.
