Review: Let me start off by saying that "Spiderman" was my favorite superhero when I was a young child. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed this movie so much. It brought me back to a time when I just loved being a kid. Sure, I got picked on by bullies and I was a nerd, but "Spiderman" always gave me the hope that one day I would become something that no bully could ever touch. That's the brilliant thing about this movie. It reminds you that we have all been the geek or the loser at some point in our lives, but in the end, we always get the upper hand and become something great. It recalls those days when the sky was the limit and reality was only as close as your eighteenth birthday.
In essence, this movie is fiction at its best. It makes you forget your troubles for a little while and leaves you with a good feeling.
The storyline stays true to the comic, with the exception of Spidey's web-slinging ability. Although that minor detail actually makes the character more believable as superheroes are concerned. The movie isn't as dark as "Daredevil" or serious as "X-Men." It's a whiz-bang thrill ride that just cuts loose in front of you. It takes the campiness that the Kilmer-Clooney "Batman" movies tried horribly to utilize and mixes that up with the youthful idealism of every kid who has grown up in the good ol' U.S. of A. and makes a fun adventure that's not too violent for the little ones and just deep enough to lure in adults who may not have read "Spiderman" when they were younger.
I'm not giving this movie five stars because I'm a Spiderman fan, I'm giving five stars because it makes you feel great after you've watched it.
By all means, watch this film. It's worth it.

Summary: Oh, Tobey
Review: Being a guy I think that this is a good actoin movie. Tobey Maguire's body was so hot after being bitten by the spider. Just look at his abs, and muscles. As for his face, it is kind of dorky still, I guess he is sort of a nerdy hunk. It's just too bad that I heard that he just did it for the movie. Well I guess I will have to see this movie over and over again.

Summary: I'm caught In The Web!
Review: This is one of the best DVD gift sets that is on shelves today!
Tobey Maguire is NOT the best actor out there, but he plays the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man better than anyone else could ever do. The 'Special Features' on the DVD are as good as they sound, if not better! The extra goodies that you get in the DVD box set is worth the extra money.

Overall: Buy the box set if you are a fan of Spider-Man. It is totally worth the extra money!

Summary: The best comic->movie yet
Review: This DVD would be worth the money, and them some, just for the movie itself. If you're a Spider-Man fan, this is a MUST HAVE! As faithful to the comic as any of this genre I've seen...plus the special effects are outstanding (the one exception being the "running on the rooftops" scene).
The extra disk includes lots of insider stuff from both comics and the movie...well worth watching.

Summary: How superhero movies are supposed to be made
Review: Sam Raimi Brings all the energy and excitement from His Hercules and Xena TV shows to the movie adaptation of Spider-Man. This bright, energetic film stays true to the spirit of the comics. The story is easy to follow and is full of fun campy moments that will have you laughing, and on the edge of your seat with the action packed scenes that were ripped from a comic book. Fanboys may grumble that some things are modified (Organic webshooters, Mary Jane is in Gwen Stacy's place during the final battle) but these minor cosmetic changes only improve the story. Tobey Maguire gives a great performance as does the rest of the cast. (Fans of Raimi films should Look for Lucy Lawless and Bruce Campbell in hilarous cameo roles.) This is a great film and it will get a lot of play on your DVD machine.

Summary: BEST MOVIE, EVER!!
Review: Honestly, don't listen to anyone that says a thing remotely negative towards this movie. It is the best movie ever!! And don't worry that you don't know anything about Spider-Man, you don't need to. It has great acting, awesome FX, wicked action and even a bit of romance, but not enough to ruin the film, *cough* Pearl Harbour *cough*

I would recommend it to ANYONE. Any age, intersets, or religions, you won't be disappointed. :)

Summary: First Edition, and I don't mean of the Daily Bugle!
Review: I started reading Spiderman Comic books back in the 1960s. When other comic book mainstays were stodgy, predictable, hero types, we were presented with a character with some flaws. Spider-Man is a real human, one who often wonders why he really doesn't just give it all up. While web slinging is an adrenalin rush, it has its downsides. Think about it for a moment, how would the police and media really act to costumed vigilantes roaming the city. I doubt they would shine the bat signal!

What drives Spider-Man is great story. I would anxiously await the next issue on the newsstand, for that story to continue. I was not really looking for what the next great villain would be, I wanted to see what was going to happen to Peter, his aunt May, his lady friends, and how he would make the next months rent.

A hero is only as great as his enemies. The Green Goblin in this movie was one of the best. A ruthless businessman with a taste for power, Norman Osborne was one of Spidey's greatest foes. For those of us who hate to see the same plot, rehashed over and over in successive movies, take heart. Spiderman had almost all the great villains. Heck, they even stole one for the movie Daredevil. I guess they couldn't think of a good one associated with that comic. Spider-Man originated the Kingpin, Doctor Octopus, the Vulture, the Sandman, the Rhino, the Scorpion, the Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, the Shocker, Electro, the Chameleon, and many others.

There are so many great villains, and interesting stories, done in the comic about the Spider-Man character. If the moviemakers are careful not to ruin the franchise with low budgets, campy direction, or poorly chosen plots, the number of good Spider-Man movie releases can go on for decades.

Examine the difference between movies spawned from popular icons found in things like video games, and a story-driven hero like Spider-Man. The rule of potential success will generally depend on how good the story is. Movies based on books, comics or otherwise story driven media, have a good success rate. Movies based on nothing but a popular icon, are generally just hit and miss. That's because it's more effective to accomplish the special effects, and settings to convey a good story. The reason is the moviemakers know the story, so the skill is in trying to get it told. Wrapping a contrived story around special effects, and showcasing popular icons, rarely succeeds, because it lacked the same inspiration that demanded a story to be told.
