Summary: It's Just Bond, James Bond!
Review: There have been so many reviews of this product that is hard to think of anything new to say but I will try. Many of the reviews have been very negative about the titles included in this set. I find that odd..the titles are what they are, good or bad. It is like buying Cap't Crunch and wanting Frosted Flakes. My point is that you know what you are getting up front so if you like the movies included here; Dr. No, Goldfinger, Man With The Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, License to Kill, Goldeneye and Tommorrow Never Dies, than by all means, buy it. If you don't like a certain movie, and that is ok too, then buy them individually but don't blame the box set for it's choice of titles. You are the one with the choices. Having said that, the DVD's are first rate in all ways. The picture, audio and special features are very enjoyable and are great fun to watch. As far as the troubles with TMWTGG, I didn't have them so I am no help there. And as for as TND, the camera (second angle in storyboard form) that appears in some of the action scenes can be turned off. If not via the menu on the disc, then in your DVD players menu. Just read your owners manual. To those of you who have complained that you have bought these for a second or third time thinking you very getting something new, let me just say this, NEVER did MGM claim that these were any different from the Special Editions that were released a few years ago. They just went out-of-print (which is VERY common) and they are being repacked in a different order. It's just bond, James Bond and that is a very good thing!

Summary: A Good Set, but has defects
Review: I got this for X-mas and let me tell you, you won't be disappointed. The DVDs (from best to pretty good) are "Dr. No", "Goldfinger", "The Spy Who Loved Me", "Goldeneye", "The Man With The Golden Gun", "Licence to Kill", and the not-so-good "Tomorrow Never Dies". If MGM adds "Thunderball" and "Live And Let Die", this will be the ideal James Bond set. The only problem is the defective "Man with the Golden Gun" DVD. As many people have acknowledged, chapters 21+ are scrambled picture and audio. Other than that, this is a good set.

Summary: 7 stunning movies of James Bond 007!
Review: In early 2001 all the James Bond DVD's from Dr. No to The World is Not Enough were released on DVD. They sold quickly and were disconinued, not to be released until late 2002. Finally after the wait, seven of the best James Bond movies are now avaialable. This set is very well put together with a little bit of everything from the classic Dr. No, fan favorites Goldfinger, comical The Man with the Golden Gun, stunning The Spy Who Loved Me, the gritty Licence to Kill, exciting Goldeneye and the action packed Tomorrow Never Dies! Every DVD is enhanced with hours of specials features from music videos, audio commentaries, making of... featurettes, scene selections and many more.

Starting with Dr. No, we are intorduced to James Bond, M and Miss Moneypenny. 007 is sent to Jamaicia to investigate the mysterious Dr. No. 007 meets up with the stunning Honey Ryder, and discovers that Dr. No is working for SPECTRE to destroy all rockets fired from Cape Canaveral in USA. Bond and Dr. no engage in a deadly fistfight, with Bond winning and escaping with Honey. Helmed by the wonderful Terence Young and aided with a slam-bang James Bond theme from Monty Norman and John Barry, Dr. No will leave you breathless and wanting more...

Goldfinger is considered to be one of, if not the best James Bond movie ever. Bond is batlling Auric Goldfinger, who is planning to destroy the entire gold supply of Fort Knox to increase his own profits. Bond must also fight Oddjob, whose bowler hat proves to be a most deadly weapon. Aiding bond eventually is Pussy Galore. Bond fights Goldfinger is a crashing plane and wins. Guy Hamilton brings an exciting fast pace to this film with Shirley Bassey contributing the definitive Bond song!

The Man with the Golden Gun has Bond battling Francisco Scaramanga, who considers himself to be the dark side of Bond. They are fighting over the priceless solex agitator which harnesses the sun's power. Helping Bond is the truly foolish Mary Goodnight. Bond and Scaramanga engage in a deadly duel with the Walther PPK and the golden gun. Bond kills Scaramanga and escapes with Goddnight. Lulu gives a very exciting tempo to the title song with Guy Hamilton directing.

My personal favorite of all the James Bond movies is The Spy Who Loved Me. Bond is battling Karl Stromberg who hopes to destory two major cities in the world and create a new era under the sea. Bond also goes fist to mouth against the steel-toothed Jaws. Anya Amasova, a russian agent teams up with Bond to help him track down Stromberg. Bond goes to Atlantis and kills Stromberg, rescues Anya and escapes. Lewis Gilbert directs the great entry into the 007 series with Carly Simon singing the magnificent song Nobody Does it Better.

Licence to Kill is the most hard-edged Bond movie of all time with Bond seeking a personal revenge over the attack on Felis Leiter against Franz Sanchez. CIA agent Pam Bouvier helps Bond with his personal vendetta, it all comes down to a riveting truck chase. Bond kills Sanchez and all is well.

Goldeneye has Bond going up against alec Trevelyan (006) to figth for the deadly Goldeneye weapon. Natalya helps Bond discover who is behind the the theft of Goldeneye with it coming to an dangerous fight on the satellite system controls. Tina Turner offers a powerful title song with Martin Campbell directing.

Tomorrow Never dies has Bond going up aganist Elliot Carver who hopes to start WWIII to increase his popularity as a media mogul. Bond teams up with the feisty Wai Lin to set the stage for a showdown aboard the stelth ship of Carver's. Endless gun fights follow with Bond confronting Carver and "giving the people what they want."

These seven films are truly exciting and will leave all viewers shaken and stirred!!!

Summary: A box of classics
Review: Everyone else that wrote reviews pretty much stole my thunder but my purpose is to update Bond fans on the problems many have encountered with the Goldfinger title. I just wanted to let you people know that my wife bought me the DVD set for X-mas. She purchased them around the 15th of December 2002 and the Goldfinger DVD glitched up problems have been resolved. Mine is error free, so you can buy with confidence. All the other DVD's in the set were perfect too- no flaws. I can't believe some of the reviews people wrote for this set. One guy actually thinks one of the DVD's broke his player and another guy complains about the camera logo popping up in the corner? I'm surprised these two clowns even have the intelligence to operate a DVD player. Enough rambling. Hope the next DVD Bond sets are out soon. Bond forever.

Summary: The movies are great...but don't all work
Review: I am a huge Bond fan and you probably are too or else you wouldn't be reading this, and for me to give my personal thouhgts on the movies themselves would be unnecessary because if you are reading this you probably already have your favorite movies and don't care much about what I think. Fair enough, but I do think something should be said about the copy of "The Man with the Golden Gun." The actual DVD itself that ships with the set is defective and will not play all the way through. If you plan on buying this set be prepared to try and swap the enclosed copy for one of the stand alone copies in the stores. The copy I obtained was free from the defect and works fine. Otherwise though, the extras are incredible and it's good to see Bond back on DVD. I look forward to the next box set of these films!

7 of his best films put together in one action packed boxed set, jam packed with hours of special features

Summary: Bond...James Bond
Review: We meet again, Mr. Bond. The very words spoken by numerous villains in the long-running James Bond franchise are applicable to this latest release of a varied collection of 007 adventures on DVD.
The box set includes some of the best in the series with DR NO, GOLDFINGER, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, LICENSE TO KILL, GOLDENEYE and TOMORROW NEVER DIES.
DR NO is the quintessential Bond movie. It introduced the world to the suave secret agent and of course, Sean Connery. Sure, it's less action-orientated than the films that would follow, but like FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, DR NO is one of the less extravagant films and as a result, is much better off for it. Considered the best man to have put on Bond's shoes, Connery does the unnerving job of being the first 007 with style, wit and panache. And of course, Monty Norman's fantastic score, particularly the title track, which would of course, be later used as the staple "Bond" theme. All together, a fantastic 007 movie.

Directed by Guy Hamilton, GOLDFINGER IS the best Bond film. No question. It epitomizes the entire franchise's appeal, with the brilliant Connery oozing charm, the terrific title villain played by Gert Frobe, to Shirley Bassey's powerful title tune to 007's ultra-cool Aston Martin. There is one scene which epitomizes the entire film, where Bond is about to have his johnsons sliced off with a laser, where Bond asks Goldfinger: "Do you expect me to talk?" Goldfinger's classic retort is: "No Mr.. Bond, I expect you to die!" Fantastic. Let's not forget also (How could we?) that this is the one with Pussy Galore, played excellently by Honor Blackman. And Oddjob and his lethal bowler adds a dangerous mix to the baddies out to end Bond's career. The budget, considerably upped from the previous DR NO and FRWL, this one has more and better action. if there is a flaw, the ending is somewhat dated, but with so many good points, this one is the best. Bond is indeed "The man with the midas touch".
Roger Moore's second outing as 007 in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN is the most underrated entry in the franchise. On release, critics were surprised at the lack of gadgets, explosions and trademark Bond action. But don't focus on the negative, there is much to be enjoyed here; the fantastic Christopher Lee does a brilliant job as the villain Scaramanga, (One of the best bad guys of the series) there are plenty of Bond girls, car chases and explosions. Perhaps the absence of really memorable set-pieces could be attributed to Ian Flemming's rather weak source novel. Like the movie, the book isn't bad, but Sacramanga is a one-dimensional thug and the action is notably sparse. While not as fast-paced as some other films, it's better than the book.
Following TMWTGG's commercial failure with one of the most ambitious Bond films since THUNDERBALL, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is Roger Moore's best Bond film. There is a plethora of brilliant set-pieces and amazing stuff, starting off with the best opening scene of the 007 series seeing Bond in a thrilling ski chase ending with an incredible jump off a huge cliff-face and completing the spectacular stunt with a parachute with the Union Jack on it. Genius. But that's just one good thing. Another is the buxom Barbara Bach, a standout Bond chick who proves to almost be a match for James. The villains Stromberg, a man who has big plans for the future involving global destruction and living under the sea, and Jaws, played by the imposing Richard Kiel. Fast-paced car chases, 007's cool Lotus Espirit that turns into a submersible, amazing locations, and a larger-than-life plot that is complemented by some terrific action that rivals most other films of the series.

Timothy Dalton's second 007 film after THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, LICENSE TO KILL is far less exciting. Some un-inspired chases, unconvincing villains and the whole thing gets so brutal and nasty that you forget you're even watching a Bond film. Less said about it, the better really.
And then, there's GOLDENEYE, one of the most smash bang films of the series, with a brooding Pierce Brosnan taking over the role of the debonair british secret agent. The action's amazing (Cool car chases, tank chases etc) and the fantastic "Secret hideout" that harks back to the extravagance of YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE. Indeed, this is one of the best. A must-have for any Bond fan, or action fan for that matter. TOMORROW NEVER DIES is less exciting, and the villains are weak, but there are some good action set-pieces, especially the motorbike/helicopter chase. All put together with a very impressive amount of extra material on DVD, this is one for the fans. Smashing stuff!

Summary: To clear up any confusions...........
Review: Okay, for anyone who is confused still about the James Bond DVD set, I'll let you know what's going on. MGM is making 3 sets of dvds (7 bond movies in each). The first one is out now which does unfortunately have problems. The Man With The Golden Gun has a defect and stops play after scene 21 and quality never returns. The other movies are all fine but the revised edition of Golden Gun is coming out soon in the set. However, you can now purchase the Golden Gun dvd separately which works fine. Try to exchange the defect in the set with the individual copy. Despite this defect, the set is wonderful and a Bond classic.

Summary: Bond is the best
Review: What can I say nobody does it better than Bond and he kicks butt on DVD. Probaly the best 7 bond movies but there is one missing Thunderball. But that cant stop you from purchasing this because it has awesome cars (Aston Martin, BMW's, and the Lotus Car/sub), great actors (Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosan)
and classic villains (Dr. No, Goldfinger, Jaws, Oddjob, and last and littlest Nick Nack).
