Summary: 'The Lord of the Rings' Movie Trilogy
Review: 1. Special effects: 5/5
2. Music (Score): 5/5
3. Acting: 5/5
4. Cinematography: 5/5
5. Adapted Screenplay: 4/5

'The Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy is phenomenal in every way! Besides the fact that all three movies slightly deviate from 'The Lord of the Rings' book trilogy, they all are very exciting to watch. Each movie in the trilogy has a lot of action, adventure, and fantasy to offer. There aren't many flaws at all in 'The Lord of the Rings' movie-trilogy. 'The Fellowship of the Ring' is phenomenal while its sequel, 'The Two Towers', is even better. Though both of those two movies in the trilogy are good, they aren't as good as 'The Return of the King' (which is the best of the three movies). I highly recommend that you buy 'The Lord of the Rings'-The Motion Picture Trilogy (Widesreen Edition) [Boxed Set].

Summary: The proof for fantasy in real world
Review: After the 3 long years journey we have finally come to it. The most anticipated release of the award winning fantasy epic trilogy. It is the most stupendous monument added to the incredible imagination of Tolkien in the recent past.

The manner of which J.R.R. Tolkien's novel presented itself was a conclusive dilemma to all movie directors in contriving their conceptual models. Nevertheless the unimaginable task was achieved by an unimaginable number of passionate individuals giving life to middle earth and all its living things making the fantasy a reality. All three installments were bound to have had a major impact on the audience regardless of the trivial inconsistencies with Tolkien's story and the major contrast of the ROTK's success compared to the first two. This is undoubtedly a remarkable experience that we will long hold to the end of our lives. Three cheers to Peter Jackson and the Gang for a giving our world this magical experience of middle earth !!! It was definitely "A Quest Fulfilled".

This release contains theatrical versions of the 3 installments (You will have to wait a bit longer for the extended versions or so I guess) in widescreen format with 2 DVD's each. There's nothing new to this except that all three comes together as a collection. Doing a short re-cap, all three movies contain their theatrical trailers, behind the scene preview, interviews and documentaries. In my opinion, this release lacks a bit of extras as the final one that many of us expected. Also one big thing I miss is the "Into the West" video. Where is it? It's the one that bought 'em an additional OSCAR. I'm not sure whether they made one, but they should have included it just like "May it be" and "Gollum's song". However, this is the big one, and the introductory price is amazing. So for all LOTR fans and collectors, this is your chance to show how much you love middle earth!

Summary: pretty good
Review: well, everyone seems to be crazy about this trilogy, but I have to say not the best fantasy-type movie by far. it doesn't even compare to "greats" like The Princess Bride and Labyrinth. but still a pretty good movie--good story line, just slow and way too long.

Summary: The BEST
Review: Do you even need to read a review on how great these 3 movies are? The compelling origin of the One Ring, followed by the banding together of 9 unlikely companions in Fellowship of the Rings brings the best story of the 3. The Two Towers is 3 hours of buildup for the amazing Battle at Helms Deep, and the finale with Return of the King is the amazing conclusion to JRR Tolkiens masterpiece where everything comes together and the King takes his place. If you haven't seen these movies, don't delay any longer. Without a doubt, the first MUST-OWN movies of the Millenium.

Summary: Wonderful classic story!
Review: A wonderful trio of movies! Peter Jackson did a wonderful job bringing JRR Tolkien's epic book trilogy to the screen. It's mostly gritty and dark, but also can be funny and sweet and even romantic.

"Fellowship" introduces us to Frodo Baggins and the One Ring and Middle-Earth, and how this little Hobbit has to take the Ring to Mount Doom to destroy it. "Two Towers" is about Aragorn and the others trying to rescue the hobbits Merry and Pippin, while Sam and Frodo are still going to Mordor. "Return of the King" has Frodo finally coming to Mount Doom, but can be destroy it? At the same time the rest of the fellowship is trying to defeat Sauron with dead armies and so on.

This is a wonderful trilogy and should be watched by everyone.

Summary: Save your money for the deluxe edition
Review: Read the fine print, folks -- this item contains the THEATRICAL cuts of each film. Plus, with a total of only 6 discs, there isn't much room for extras. Think about it -- the deluxe editions of the first two films already have 50% more discs than this entire box set!

It's well known that Peter Jackson is hard at work putting together a mammoth deluxe box set of the LOTR trilogy that will include not only new special features, but also the theatrical AND the extended versions of all three films. In particular, the extended version of ROTK is rumored to dramatically improve the narrative flow of that already-excellent conclusion to what is perhaps the greatest movie trilogy of all time.

It's hard to see who would be interested enough in LOTR to buy this set, but not interested enough to wait for the definitive edition of the films on DVD.

Summary: well it's ok for the people that preffer the teather edition
Review: I give it 4 stars though the movies deserve 5 cause if u already have the extended editions this boxset would be useless, i mean in the extended editions u have twice what the teather version gives u plus the whole bunch of features. it's great having the boxset but the extended ones are better, does anyone know when will the extended edition of return of the king will be for sale?

Summary: Is it rushed?
Review: Absolutely brilliant and epochal as this trilogy is, you have to wonder why they're planning to release a box set already when they could just save for a future release as a money-maker. This box set is obviously bad news (or just indifference) for the millions of people who already have the theatrical DVD's.
Nevertheless, the Lord of the Rings trilogy is a truly fantastic movie-making achievement, and one that deserves to be owned by everyone as a cornerstone in their movie collection. For people like me, who only own the deluxe versions of the movie, this box set will be beneficial. It's just a shame we have no new movie to look forward to anymore, December is going to seem so cold now. Lord of the Rings forever! I can't wait for the special edition re-release in 20 years!

Summary: For the few who have not actually seen the movies already.
Review: The widescreen DVD is really the only way to go. While watching the Return of the King I was struck by the epic scale of the whole production. It is like the old grand 'cast of thousands' movies of the 50's. Those classic movies could sweep you away, and the Lord of the Rings tops all of them. The thrilling battle scenes, the compelling characters, the great performances, and even the soundtrack is outstanding.

The Lord of the Rings is a must see movie. For me, like a few movies of the caliber like the Godfather, I will judge future movies as to how close they can approach the quality of this Triology.

DVD Widescreen is the only way to enjoy this adventure.
