Rating: Summary: Professionally Done Review: This is the best movie ive ever seen. A real tear jerker and moving. You may feel uneasy at the end but Besson gives a sense closure and peace in a beutiful film. A MASTERPIECE!
Rating: Summary: Leon Review: The American version was good. I liked it alot. Then I found the French version with the uncut footage. I paid a good price for it but it was worth it. The uncut version gives you a more in depth look into the relationship of Mathilda and Leon. The scenes that were cut show you why certain things happen and explains the movie much better. This is an excellent buy.
Rating: Summary: One of the Strong Films Out There. Review: Filmmaker:Luc Besson is very stylish writer & director also great Camera Work on every film, he has done. My Two Favorite Performances are Jean Reno(Godzilla, Ronin, The Visitors, Mission:Impossible) & Natalie Portman (Star Wars:The Phantom Menace, Heat, Beautiful Girls, Mars Attacks!, Anywhere But Here and Her Recently Film:Where The Heart Is.) Jean Reno is really good in this action/drama. One Of his best Performance as Léon: A man who lives the life from a Professional Hit-Man and he also unhappy. He friends with a Pre-Teen girl named is Mathilda(Extermely Well Played and Her best performance in her film bebut:Natalie Portman). She also un-happy living with her father, stepmother, her half-sister and her very young brother are Killed by DEA Cop because of a drug problem. The lead Corrupt DEA Cop Named Norman Stansfield(In a Bizarre, Scenery Performance by Gary Oldman). The only thing, she has left is Léon. He saved her life and become friends but Mathilda becomes in love in with Léon but Léon becomes a father to her. This film has strong and touching moments. This Film also funny moments between Relationship of Léon and Mathilda. Some Intense Action Scenes. There is not any Drama/Action has Heart and Soul. This One Does. There`s also International Version runs about 24 minutes than the U.S. Relase. It`s clear up the Plot Holes and the Realationship between the two is better. Grade:A. Technovision.
Rating: Summary: Wait for LEON Review: Maybe one of the few movies that truely deserves 5 stars. One of the most overlooked and underrated film of the 90s. While the movie as it's presented here is a great film, it's not the movie as it was meant to be seen. A few years after The Professional came out (known outside the US as LEON), an 'integral version' was released. This version, with 25 extra minutes, expands greatly on Leon and Mathilda's character, and their unique relationship. It truely is 'integral' to the story. The bad news is that this version isn't out in the US. The good news is that it's coming! Columbia TriStar will be releasing it in summer 2000. No idea about the name, they seem to be leaning towards the original international name of LEON, but they may keep The Professional as the title as well... It will mostly likely have the "International Version" subtitle, similar to The Messenger DVD. Enjoy The Professional now, but be sure to check out LEON later!
Rating: Summary: Great movie, inadequate DVD Review: I'm frustrated by the lack of extra content on DVDs and the Professional is right in there with the worst offenders. How I would have loved to watch an interview with Luc Besson or Jean Reno or Natalie Portman discussing the movie. All you get is the trailer. Granted the sound and video quality on this disc are very, very good, but when you've got such a rich medium, it begs to be put to use. Example: the Apollo 13 DVD and The Matrix DVDs are both are best of breed and top anything I've seen to date
Rating: Summary: A Great Team Review: This film by Luc Besson is truly one of my favorites. It is a story about a hitman, Leon (Jean Reno), who became an unwilling guardian to his neighbor, Mathilda (Natalie Portman), whose family was murdered by a group of corrupt DEA agents led by Norman Stansfield (Gary Oldman). At first, Leon was reluctant to take care of Mathilda because most of his life he was alone. When he decided to look after her, he taught her on how to become a "cleaner", while Mathilda helped him on some household chores. She even taught him how to read (Leon is illiterate). As time went on, the two grew closer to one another. Mathilda saw in him someone who she can depend on while Leon saw in her a family he never had. We can see this in the movie when Leon told Mathilda that she gave him a taste for life. He is now responsible for her and he will do anything to protect her. I have seen most of the films which stars Jean Reno and Natalie Portman (Ronin, La Femme Nikita, French Kiss, Mission Impossible, Godzilla, Beautiful Girls, Everyone Says I Love You, Mars Attacks, Heat, Episode I The Phantom Menace, Anywhere But Here). This film is definitely their best. I hope the two of them would make a movie together again, they make a great team.
Rating: Summary: Best Hitman movie around! Review: Definitely one of the best movies ever! The director did a great job at making you feel what Leon (the hitman) and Mathilda (little girl who Leon is protecting) are feeling. Lots of action and suspense while still showing the relationship between Leon and Mathilda. I recommend that you see this movie sometime in your life! You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Besson's mastery at it's very best Review: Luc Besson is just one of those contemporary directors who stuns you every time adding his french touch to this American funded movie. If you liked Subway and nikita the Professional or Leon in my neck of the woods is a must see. It's not as good as his earlier stuff but the amazing performances from Natalie 'star wars' Portman and Gary ' nil by mouth' oldman is reason enough to buy this movie.
Rating: Summary: LUC BESSON Review: Words cannot really describe a movie of this greatness. As always the real star of a Luc Besson film is Besson himself. There is nothing new that I could possibly say about this film but I strongly recommend that you check out all of Luc Besson films because as you will find out his magic is all there. tim_aaron_douglas@yahoo.com
