Summary: BEST BOND
Review: Thisis the Best James Bond movie. It has stiff competition from Goldfinger, Thunderball, and From Russia with Love but it edges them out.The sno3 scenes are gorgeous. The best part of the movie is when Draco's men and OO7 attack Blofeld's allergy clinic.

Summary: Why does everyone hate this movie?
Review: Why doesn't anyone like this movie? Personally, I think it is the best 007 movie of all time (Well, next to Goldfinger). It is by far the most action packed and most romantic. Even if it wasn't a Bond flick, it would be a classic. I know one reason for its lack of fans is Lazenby. Well, if the people that say that he sucks actually watched the film, they would see they are wrong. He isn't Connery or Moore, but he's still good enough for the role. And if you want to know, he didn't get fired for being bad, he quit because his agents told him it would be better for his career. It has some of the best Bondian stunts ever and also the best skiing scene in any action movie. The bad guy is great and so is the Bond girl. And Lazenby is NOT bad. If you are looking for a new 007 movie or just an action movie, I suggest you order this film.

Summary: Not the best, but good
Review: George Lazenby did an OK job as Bond, considering he had to follow up Connery, not an easy task. Diana Rigg was oustanding as Tracy, and Telly Savalas really made you hate him with his portrayal of Blofeld, which certainly was better than that of Donald Pleasance or Charles Gray.

Two great chase scenes drive this movie, (the car chase, and the ski chase). The ski chase was an idea used in many Bond films but this was the best one. The avalanche was a great addition to the movie, it was something that James Bond had never had to survive before. Also, the emotionally charged climax puts the cap on a good movie.

OHMSS isn't the best, but it's up there with FRWL and FYEO. Buy it today!

Summary: Thank you, Mr. Bond
Review: The best Bond ever! The end of an era. Though Connery was the best Bond, Lazenby did the role justice at his first try; certainly better than Moore, who nearly ruined the series with his goofball series--Bond is not a comedy; Austin Powers is. Buy this and you won't be disappointed, but don't expect this to be an action movie like today's Bond flicks. This movie actually has substance.

Summary: Good action, but the rest......
Review: "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is by no means my least favourite Bond flick (it's still better than "The Man With The Golden Gun" and "Licence To Kill") but I can barely think of any film that has been more frustrating. This film was a brave attempt to recapture some of the spirit of Ian Fleming's Bond, and a more "human" 007 was briefly introduced. However, that is the problem. Fleming-ness, in my view, has never translated well onto the screen. in OHMSS, Bond tracks down SPECTRE chief Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is hidden away in a secret HQ in the Swiss Alps. He runs headlong into Draco, head of a gigantic crime syndicate, who offers Bond information if he will marry his daughter Tracy (played by Avengers star Diana Rigg). It sounds like an interesting storyline, but it doesn't quite gel.

"Majesty's" does have some good moments, though, and the car chase scene where Bond and Tracy flee Blofeld's men before dispatching them in the middle of an ice rally is one of my favourite chases in the series. Almost as spectacular are the fantastic ski-chases (an idea that has been repeated several times in the series)and Bonds final run-in with Blofeld. John Barry's instrumental opening score/background music is great to listen to and very Bondian.

Less successful, however, is the pathetic pre-credits sequence, and the first half-hour after the credits is rather flabby and serves only to stretch the film out to its absurd running length of 2hrs 20mins, by far the longest Bond movie. OHMSS also suffers from erratic editing that gives the film an unwanted, Avengers-like feel.

OHMSS is also notable for being Australian model George Lazenby's only Bond outing. He doesn't do badly otherwise, but his relationship with Tracy onscreen is unconvincing. I thought Telly "Kojak" Savalas did a good job as Blofeld, but the mundanity of the plot (threatening the UN with biological weapons unless he is given a pardon for past evil deeds) reduces his impact somewhat. Ditto Ilse Steppat as henchwoman Irma Bunt. But generally, what I am saying is, OHMSS attempts to bring Bond back to earth, but gets it wrong. It's a shame that this film is rated so highly at the expense of much-underrated Bond flicks (for example, 1979's "Moonraker" which in my view is one of the best Bond films ever made.) Clearly it is enjoyable at times, but there's something missing.

Summary: Ok but could do better for OHMSS
Review: This Bond is my least favorite. Poor George got a bad Bond to start and sank.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best.
Review: This movie does have a more realistic feel to it compared to other bond movies (count that for what it's worth). This makes for a more believable and suspenseful movie in my book. The fight scenes are well shot and are actually exciting! Compare this to dreadfullness to come in the roger bore era. I have a feeling Lazenby was willing to do more of his own physical action in an attempt to establish himself. His performance wasn't the best, but it's better than any of Dalton's, Moore's, Brosnan's in Tomorrow never dies, and Connery's in You only live twice, diamonds are forever, and never say never again. I'll take Lazenby's enthusiasm and more realistic approach over Connery's obvious mugging and self-infatuation in you only live twice any day of the week. Ideally, Connery would never have begun to wallow in lazy complacency after thunderball. This movie is really good, with the best chase scene (the one ski chase), the best music, and the best bond girl. And it's a story! You might actually believe this one happening! Check out the great office scene for the best feel on Lazenby's bond.
