Summary: FOR YOUR EYES ONLY
Review: Cubby Broccoli presents Roger Moore as Roger Moore! Okay, so who said it was Shakespeare anyway? When Bond came back down to Earth in 1981, John Glen hit the mark and struck a chord with people tired of glib, tongue-in-cheek assassination of the Bond character that had preceded it. This movie is a cracking yarn with pace, style and set-pieces to rival the best. The hard edge to Moore convinces because it doesn't sit easily with him.Pity bout the TV movie of the week score! The dvd package is great and a real journey back to the summer holidays of 1981!

Summary: One of the top 6 Bonds
Review: The OO7 series did need to fall down back to earth after the creative but odd Moonraker. If there wasn't The Spy Who Loved Me, this would be Roger Moore's finest hour (2 hours). Moore gives a good performance yet is more suited for comedic roles. Carole Bouqet is an outstanding Bond girl as Melina Havelock, whose parents were murdered by villain Aris Kristatos. He is smooth and suave, yet needs menace and is not one of the better villains. Topol is one of the best Bond allies as a worn-out Greek smuggler, Milos Colombo. Stunts are some of the best in the series, as are the superb chases. Some of the action includes an exciting waterfront warehouse raid, a ski chase involving motorcycles, ski jumps, and lots of suspense. Other action is an entertaining car chase through the Greek countryside and a somewhat overrrated action-wise yet highly suspenseful assault on a mountaintop fortress. the plot is great, yet script needs a lot of work. There is a well-filmed keel-hauling scene, not to mention underwater scenery. Cinematography is beautiful, as are the sets and costumes. Overall, my sixth favorite OO7 film and second favorite Moore.

Summary: This is supposed to be good!
Review: FYEO is a largely overrrated lackluster film. Characters are good and story is fine, but can't stand music or acting. Moore is looking a bit too old and worn out, Glover is annoying as Kristatos, and there are no gadgets! Action is okay, but the feel is bad, and the sets are uninspired.

Summary: Sleep inducing
Review: Yawn, yawn, snore, snore. That's about all I did when I watched this film. Watch Spy Who Loved Me, that's a Bond movie.

Summary: A RETURN TO THE `GLORY DAYS`
Review: FOR YOUR EYES ONLY ROGER MOORE`S FIFTH APPERANCE AS 007 PROVES TO BE ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE AND BEST OF THE SERIES. BÒND`S MISSION THIS TIME AROUND IS TO LOCATE AND RECOVER HIS COUNTRY`S ATAC TRANSMITTER, A WEAPONS SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THE USER TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE COUNTRY`S NUCLEAR SUBMARINES. THE LOCATIONS IN THIS FILM VARY ACROSS EUROPE AND THE STUNTS ARE QUITE SPECTAULAR, A SHOOT AND DODGE RACE DOWN ICY SLOPES, AND BREATHTAKING UNDERWATER ACTION SORT OF REMISCENENT OF `THUNDERBALL` THE VILLIAN KRISTOITOIS PLAYED WITH GREAT ABILTY BY JULIAN GLOVER PROVES TO BE ONE OF THE MORE RELEASTIC BOND ADVERSAIRES AND VERY ENJOYABLE TO WATCH. ALL IN ALL `FOR YOUR EYES ONLY` IS A WELL MADE SOLID ADVENTURE AND ROGER MOORE`S CHARM KNOWS NO BOUNDS A GREAT FILM IT CONCENTRTAED MORE ON STORY AND ACTION THAN GADGETS AND GIMMICKS. I ENJOYED THIS FILM IMMENSLEY!

Summary: Still the best!
Review: This was the first Bond movie I ever saw and it remains the best. Creators of the new movies should look to this movie for ideas on how to create suspense and intrigue to go along with all of the action. I like how you are kept guessing who the real villian is until very late in the movie. Sometimes, you don't need music to make a scene exciting, like when Bond pushes the car off the cliff. The underwater scenes were beautiful, and the mountain climb was amazing. I first saw this movie on HBO when I was ten, and maybe that is why I like it so much. It made a strong first impression.

Summary: One of Roger Moore's best
Review: For Your Eyes Only has everything a James Bond needs a great song, exotic locales, mysterious bond girls and good action sequences. And being on of Roger Moore's best it is a must for any serious James Bond fan.

Summary: DVD soundtrack out of sync
Review: I just purchased "FOR YOUR EYES ONLY" on DVD. This is one of my favorite Bond movies, and while the picture quality is great, the characters voices don't sync up very well. The soundtrack is a second or two ahead of the picture in some places. But all in all I love the DVD.

Summary: Long live TSWLM!
Review: TSWLM is Roger Moore's best film and not For Your Eyes Only. If you compare the two, Spy can beat FYEO out. Spy has better action including an awesome pre-title ski chase, a super-exciting seaside car chase involving a motorcycle armed with a missile, other cars, and even a helicopter, an underwater fight and and it climaxes with a huge gunfight aboard Stromberg's flagship tanker, the Liparus. FYEO has a pretty good car chase through the Greek countryside, an excellent raid on a waterfront warehouse, a very good ski chase also involving motorcycle's, and climaxes with an enourmously overrated assault on a mountaintop fortress, which generates lots of suspense but has about no action. Spy has much better music, with the best score in the series and Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better theme, the second best in the series. Sheena Easton's title song isn't bad but it's score is very bad and has a DISCO sountrack! One thing FYEO has that Spy doesn't, however, is a sophisticated villain and not the same out cartoon villain and world domination scheme. However FYEO has too many things involved in the storline including the feud between the smugglers and the murder of Melina's parents along with the original plot. FYEo has a stunning Bond girl but is edged out by Triple X in Spy. The settings are better including Egypt and the Mediterranean against Greece. Jaws is the second best henchman in the series and definitley the second most memorable. John Wyman's Erich Kreigler is a poor henchman. Finally, Spy has a much better feel to it, has better hand-to-hand fights including the memorable fight on the train, Moore's performance is better, and Spy has better chases and a better pre-title.

Summary: Good movie bad DVD
Review: For Your Eyes Only is one of my favorite Bond movies. The skill with which the Ian Flemming collection of short stories was adapted it the screen as a single storyline is masterful, however the DVD transfer leaves much to be disired. The image has been artificially sharpened harshly which causes crenelated edges in the image. When I compare the DVD to the quality of the transfer on Goldeneye it just does not hold up.
