Summary: ANYONE HEAR OF Nick Roeg's WALKABOUT 1971 ???
Review: How could anyone with half a knowledge of film even warrant this "A FAR OFF PLACE" from being anything but a trite, boring, horrible film and poorly made rip off from the 1971 film WALKABOUT? The original 1971 film story and might I add original novel is "Two children are stranded in the Australian outback and are forced to cope on their own until they meet an Aborigine who helps them across the desert".

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, ignore the horrible film "A Far Off Place" and see the original film made 20 years before. (...)

Summary: an incredible journey
Review: I enjoyed this book, but in some places I found the narrative to be too ponderous. The action was fast-paced, but he would spend seven paragraphs describing somebody's thoughts and then say something about how all these thoughts passed in just a few seconds. Well, it took me fifteen minutes to read those thoughts. In the first third of the book or so, the bad guys are chasing the good guys, and all the descriptive narrative gets in the way, slowing down the chase. Then, the bad guys give up and the good guys walk across the desert. That is when I started to enjoy the lavish descriptions.

Summary: A Way of Life
Review: I first read "A Story Like the Wind" and "A Far-Off Place" a number of years ago when, like Francois, I was young and often felt "out of the loop" in the adult world. Laurens van der Post captures perfectly the way of life of a young, sensitive, intelligent person. Time is different, thought is different, emotion is different in a youth compared to the adults around them. Some of us are lucky enough to keep that sense of wonder into our adult lives--for us, these two books remain constant sources of wonder and enjoyment. To spend a few hours engrossed in van der Post's magical storytelling is to visit another world--Francois's world, his way of life. An author who can remove you from your surroundings, introduce you to someone as memorable as Francois, Nonnie, Xhabbo, Nuin-Tara, and yes, Hintza, too, is one to be cherished and re-read over and over again. And, if you're lucky, the re-reading of it is like coming home again.

Summary: Long Love
Review: I first saw this film in 7th grade when we studied Africa in social studies. Since my early teens I've been in love with Africa, and thus like the movie. I even like it better than the novel by Laurens Van Der Post.

Summary: A wonderful action-adventure for the entire family
Review: I have never read the books, but I found the movie quite incredible. I am a big fan of movies that are set in Africa. It is just the coolest flick and perfect for the whole family. The movie has a great setting, plot, and story line. The characters were very fitting for their parts. It is a combination on action, adventure, drama, and humor. You can't help but fall in love with the cast. It sparks your imagination and you just want to watch it again and again...

Summary: This is wonderful!! I loved it!!
Review: I loved this movie! I can't say enough about it! This movie has it all: action, suspense, and romance. Who could ask for more? And, the stars do a wonderful job of portraying these three teens. Oh, and Muponi was really cool! Everyone, word up! This would be great for family fun night, or just lounging around the house. Now really, guys, don't pass this one by while walking the video shelves. I can guarantee it is worth your time and effort to pick this movie up off the shelf and watch it! Who knows, you may even like it! I sure did, that's for sure!

Summary: I loved this movie, it was great. And am thrilled . . .
Review: I loved this movies and am thrilled about its release on dvd. Unfortunatley, as I have been noticing a lot lately, the cover advertises this as an "early" Reese Witherspoon film. Give me a break! All I see lately are DVDs being advertised for the people who star in them, as opposed to the film themsleves. An actor is important, but so is content, and in this case, so are the other two leads in this film, Sarel Bok and Ethan Randall/Embry. Being an early Reese film should not give her automatic top billing because she has become so popular lately. The original cover for the video release years ago was much better. Anyways, I've whined enough, the cover is just anoying, but the film is quite good and one of my favorites. Although reading some other reviews, it is sorely lacking from other perspectives. I bought the books for my neice, and I guess will have to get them for myself so i can draw a proper comparison between the two mediums. Good film, good acting, lack of reality not withstanding.

Summary: White boy and girl, dog, and Bushman couple flee death.
Review: I need to correct the quotation taken from page 307 From: thy love be fulfilled, and love will be made one.

To: thy love be fulfilled, and love and will made one.
