Summary: Right cast, great story line but WHY the porn?
Review: I went to this movie with great expectations, having had a long time "love affair" with Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, loved Bridget Jones and Four Weddings & A Funeral, and the greatest respect for Emma Thompson and Laura Linney. But the whole movie was dragged down by the porn scenes - which I felt were stupid, gratutious and unnecessary. I am no prude, but the whole tempo changed with those scenes and a movie which could have been suitable for teens should now be off limits.

Summary: Love Actually is Good!
Review: I was a bit skeptical about watching this movie. We watched it bacause our movie of choice was sold-out. But after seeing it, I'm glad all those people watched that sold-out movie, or I wouldn't have seen the feel-good movie of the year.I loved this movie. I really did. It has 9 sub-plots, which doesn't really sound that appealing, does it? I thought so too. But I found it hard not to like this movie! You do get kind of overwhelmed with all the stories, but they are all so sweet and really puts a smile to your face. What Hugh Grant said at the beginning of the movie was true. I never really thought about it til now. When the baddest of bad happens, we are not all hating, it's the time we love more. I think everyone should keep that in mind. I'm telling you right now, get off the couch and go see this movie! I'm not the only one saying this, trust me!

Summary: A mixed bag.
Review: Several different love stories entwined into one movie. Can't wait for the outtakes on some of these on the dvd. Some stories I felt were unnecessary and if removed would make this a good family movie. Would love for the kids to see the little boy's story of love. The best stories are the little boy, colin firth, emma thompson, and laura linney.

Summary: love is all you need.
Review: My friend begged me to go see this "feel good" movie when I was down. I was skeptic at first, but I ended up LOVING IT. There are so many different characters that you just fall in love with. They are all searching for the same thing: love and to be loved. Their journeys are relatable and touching. There's a great Hugh Grant scene where he's dancing to a song (it will have you on the floor laughing!). The movie is hopeful, funny, and might even make you cry. I recommend this movie to anyone: single, married, divorced, whatever! It will make you hopeful about love and it's possibilities! PS. The movie has an AMAZING soundtrack!! I recommend buying that too!

Summary: Love Actually is actually fantastic!
Review: Love Actually was a breath of fresh air compared to all of the other "Chick Flix" that have been released lately. Movies like this one don't come along often and haven't since Notting Hill, 3 Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones' Diary. It is in true form to all of those. Bring your friend or bring your spouse-- I believe men will "Love Actually" this movie as well.

Summary: I Loved it Actually!
Review: For all those reviewers out there who are saying that Love Actually is not that amazing, I challenge them: it was one of the best and most moving, not only Christmas films, but motion pictures that I have ever seen. I left the theater feeling uplifted by some of the stories, yet saddened by some as well, and in my opinion it takes a great film to truly make you want to laugh and cry at the same time. Love Actually did that. It is just a different kind of film than Bridget Jones, Four Weddings, and Notting Hill, but it certainly, in my opinion accomplished it's goal of being a touching, feel good film.
There are many subplots to the film which are cleverly joined together by the movie's creators. I will try to summarize some of the plots, however, please excuse me if I skip over some just because there are so many. If you do not want to know the subplots even though I am in NO WAY giving away the endings to the movie, just summarizing parts of the story, stop reading at this point.
Essentially Hugh Grant has just been elected Prime Minister of England, and falls in love with one of his aides, Natalie (played by Martine McCutcheon), however, he is scared to do anything about it because she works for him and he has such a high profile position. His sister, Karen, (marvelously played by Emma Thompson) is trying to comfort her friend Daniel (also brilliantly played by Liam Neeson) whose wife has just died and who is growing increasingly worried about his stepson Sam (played by the young Thomas Sangster who is adorable) who is becoming more and more isolated from him (we learn it's because he is in love with a girl named Joanna from school and he "love's her so much it hurts. It's very cute and watching the father-son bonding over love is very touching.) Karen is married to Harry (played by Alan Rickman) who is conflicted about whether or not to cheat on his wife with an attractive and very forward coworker named Mia (played by Heike Makatsch). Harry is also trying to help Sarah (played by Laura Linney) confess her true feelings for Karl (played by Rodrigo Santoro) that she has harbored for two years, however she too has her own problems because her parents are dead and she is trying to care for her mentally ill brother after they both moved to the UK from America so that he could get proper care. Keira Knightly who plays Juliet, and Peter (played by Chiwetel Ejofor) are newlyweds who are friends with Sarah and Mark (played by Andrew Lincoln) who plays Peter's best male friend who has feelings for Juliet secretly and therefore he tries to ignore her, but she eventually finds this out and thus is conflicted between the two men. Colin Firth plays Jamie, another friend of the couple, who walks in on his girlfriend and his brother going at it and so he goes off to Paris to get away for awhile and write (he is a writer) only to fall for his Portuguese housekeeper Aurelia (played by Lucia Moniz). There are also a few comedic random stories like the story of Colin (played by Kris Marshall) who is kind of floating about all the stories (for example he passes the food out at Juliet and Peter's wedding) and can't get a date, so he thinks that by traveling to America women will dig his "sexy British accent"; the story of Judy (played by Joanna Page) and John (played by Martin Freeman) who fall in love whilst filming a porno; and my personal favorite for what I believe is the highlight of the movie the story of Billy Mack (played brilliantly by Bill Nighy), and aging rocker who wants to have a Christmas number one by rerecording that famous Wet Wet Wet 90's hit "Love is All Around" (actually, the theme song from Four Weddings). However, he knows his rerecording sucks and he is not at all politically correct and is very funny in many of his comments.
Everyone finds their way into everyone else's story and it is really interesting to see how they all unfold. Performances from Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, and Alan Rickman were highlights, however, the entire ensemble was quite brilliant. Keira Knightly looked gorgeous, Colin Firth looked devastatingly handsome, Emma Thompson and Laura Linney gave heartfelt performances, and Hugh Grant was his usual flawless comedic yet touching performance. Rowan Atkinson had a small, yet hysterical role, as a department store worker in Selfridges, and Billy Bob Thornton makes a small cameo as the President of the United States who makes a pass at Natalie and makes Hugh Grant upset.
This movie was truly brilliant and I highly advise every one of all ages to see it. It's not just a Christmas film, it's not cheesy, it's true to life and wonderful. Hugh Grant's whole speech at the beginning of the film about Love is Actually all you need is so true, and it really sticks with you after you leave the film as well.

Summary: Some great scenes but a bit too obscene
Review: There were some really hilarious scenes in this "romantic" comedy that definitely made it worthwhile to see, along with some great music! However, the stories were a bit too unconnected and the push at the end to make them connect was too far a stretch. The overt sexuality was overdone, considering the right audience for the story, or more correctly, stories, is not likely to be the type of audience to appreciate the soft porn. It interferes with the lightness of the movie, pulling the audience from their relaxed dreamy states to one of irritation, and it was all unnecessary.
The cast and music were the biggest saving graces of this film. I am curious, though, as to why the profiles of the actors playing Sarah's love interest and Colin's buddy are not mentioned on the film's website.

Summary: Loved it, actually
Review: This is a great, heartwarming holiday movie. Yes, it has some language and situations that are very adult but somehow they are not offensive. I was charmed by the couple who meet as extras on a porno set yet are shy and ever so polite as they try to work up the courage to see each other off set. The love stories vary from romantic love to unrequited love, to love of family and love of friends. the characters become very real even though they may only have short times on the screen. The young boy who will stop at nothing to win the attention of his dream girl at school is just darling! As in reality, not all of the stories end happily but you will leave the theatre feeling good.

Summary: Feel Good Movie of the YEAR!
Review: I knew this film would be amazing even before I went to see it! The cast were top rate (Hugh Grant, Colin Firth AND Alan Rickman in one film!) and the director has previously written the hits Four Weddings, Notting Hill & Bridget Jones! I have to admit though, that to get all the jokes being a Brit (which I am) helps. The one scene that made me laugh (but no one else in the movie theatre) was the bit when the aged rock star is interviewed by Ant & Deck, two v. famous kids TV presenters. In the background is a HUGE pic of the pop group Blue, which he defaces with some offensive comments about their manhood! Hilarious! This is one the girls will love (my man wouldn't come with me), and the romance coupled with the Christmas overtones will put you in a good mood for at least a couple of days! SEE IT!

Summary: A Touching & Heartwarming Christmas Treat
Review: As I write this review and look at the calendar, I wonder why, for once, I am not dreading the arrival of the holidays. I usually do not look forward to them with all their chaos, confusion and tiresome ceremonies. And yet, after recently seeing "Love Actually," I suddenly have changed my tune!
This is a testament to what is truly one of the finest Christmas films of all time. "Love Actually" is shamelessly touching and endearing. It takes chances and liberties with its plot all the time, but it is done so well and acted so credibly that it all comes together perfectly.
That excellent acting is brought to you by some of England's (and the world's!) top actors: Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth & Alan Rickman (to name just 5!!!). While it's amazing to have all these A-list stars in one film, what's even more impressive is that there is no one star, per se. This is an ensemble piece in the truest sense of the word.
Brought to us by the same folks that brought classics like FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL & BRIDGET JONE'S DIARY, this film contains the same type of offbeat, oddly touching and sometimes dicey British humor.
Critics may claim that the film is uneven, too sugary-sweet, and too mature to be the ideal "feel-good holiday film" it strives to be. But all this is neither here nor there.
LOVE ACTUALLY is the ideal Christmas gift for one and all. You will leave the theater with a warm, fuzzy feeling that no other film in recent memory will leave you with.
In short, this is a Romantic/Holiday comedy done the way only the Brit's could do it- oddball, screwy, offbeat and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
