Summary: Eerie, Atmospheric, ridiculous
Review: A very atmospheric film with an eerie feel throughout. I am a little more forgiving in my review of this film having read other reviews and seeing what it took for the director to complete this film. Filmed in Russia, it was anything but easy. The whole thing was destined for failure with the ripoffs, location changes, etc...Either way the director was able to pull off quite a nice film in the end. The ending, however, was thrown together with no real explanation for the ridiculous creature. I think this is one time where the visual gave a bit more than we needed. I feel that it should have kept with the mystery and maybe eluded to the evil behind the wall with only noises, growls whatever...Maybe even just a shadow of things to come so-to-speak. Anyway everything that leads up to the disappointing conclustion is beautiful, haunting and visually acceptable.

Summary: I don't like giving reviews like this but...
Review: As a long time admirer of European horror I was really looking forward to finally seeing this film. It wasn't worth the wait. The plot begins with a young woman travelling from London to visit her friend, a nun, in a covent located on a very remote Crimean island. The nun is murdered and more nun carnage quickly ensues--stabbings, burnings and a disembowlment follow but to no great effect. Not scary or suspenseful. It's just goes along very slowly and rather nonsensically. And not making any sense would be the least of its problems if it had been directed with any great style but it wasn't (though it desperately mimics the works of Argento and Bava it never comes close). The acting, sound, music and editing are mostly subpar and the finale featuring a very rubbery monster and some awful make-up effects push it to near MST3K hilarity. Amid all this, there a few interesting moments and the location work is often quite compelling and makes for a mysterious backdrop.

The DVD is fullframe and appears to be only slightly cropped with an acceptable image transfer. There are no chapter stops or menu screens. ... The two star rating is actually quite generous.

Summary: Great horror movie
Review: Dark Waters is one of the better Italian genre horror films to come out in the last decade. I just got the DVD, and although I was initially disapointed by the lack of extras (always a good thing), how can anyone be unhappy with a chilling movie with evil bloodthirsty nuns? This movie is highly underrated in my opinion and deserves a chance viewing from all true horror fans.

Summary: That last viewer was incompetent
Review: People who don't like this film must be spoiled by movies with superfluous dialogue that leads nowhere and hollywood blockbuster special effects... Here's my take on this fantastic film...

I was referred to this film by someone in some chat room in '98. He convinced me that having a copy of this film would be worth while, and he was right. It now lists among some of my favorite and most played movies, alongside such classics as Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Liquid Sky, and The Evil Dead. Needless to say that with its appearance on such a lofty list of films one could be overwhelmed by the hype! I assure the reader that this could not be further from the truth. Dark Waters is stylish, coherent, artsy, and deeply disturbing, all rolled up in one. You owe it to yourself to go out and pick up a copy of this right now. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer, and that I don't know better Russian.

Summary: Really wonderfully bizarre
Review: This film is just unbelievable. If you get a kick out of bad horror films, you must see this immediately. I had expected all the usual horror film cliches, but I have never seen anyone eat a bloated raw fish quite like that. There are demon nuns, blind women on fire, mysterious rituals, and corpses. It's extremely well done, though I'm not sure what the sound guy was up to in a few scenes, and I have no idea how they kept from burning down the set with all those candles. This video is going into my collection. I love it.

Summary: Great horror movie
Review: This movie is an excellent movie. The suspense is great. It has a decent amount of gore, and the atmosphere is perfect. However, the sound definitely wasn't the best. But, considering what the people making this film had to go through, it's amazing that this film was completed at all. Horror fans should definitely check this movie out.

Review: title is a little deceiving thats for sure. but surprised at all the good reviews this movie got. i like off the wall B movies and a few independent films if their entertaining and keep you involved in the movie but this movie is just plain sad.
especially the end, you get a glimpse of the creature and can't really tell what's going on in the movie towards the end. does have good atmosphere and good acting but not very entertaining and not a very good movie to laugh at. was just plain disappointed, especially after i saw the ending. i'd stay away from this movie, but of course thats just my opinion.
