Summary: It's been a long time...
Review: This is truly a lovely movie, and it has been a long time since a romantic comedy has been this enjoyable. This movie may remind you of "When Harry Met Sally" or "Sleepless in Seattle", where the couples are clearly meant for each other, yet have obstacles they must overcome. The acting and dialogue are superb! Hugh Grant, a world-famous actor, is completely convincing as an average bloke, while Julia Roberts goes by Anna Scott and plays herself, a "heavenly" movie star.

One review of this movie called it "pure fairy tale." As long as you can believe that it is possible for an actress to truly be a "good person," that she may actually want to live a relatively "normal" life outside of her acting career and may want to start a family of her own, then this statement is false. One specific scene mentioned as difficult to believe was the initial kiss that takes place quite soon after they meet. However, there are two reasons why this scene is believable. First, it is quite obvious that she is impressed from the start with his wit, sensitivity, and honesty, especially compared to the other men who are falling over themselves when they meet her. Secondly, this kiss may be a sort of test. In a city filled with reporters trying to get a story and her pictures plastered everywhere, her life has to be secretive as much as possible. Perhaps she wanted to see if she would be reading about the incident in the next day's paper before she allowed herself to get too close. She gave him quite the opportunity to brag to his friends or family, but he does not.

This movie is quite entertaining to watch the first, second and even fifth time.

Summary: An Okay Movie.
Review: I saw this movie a little while back, but in no way did I think that it was a classic. Sure, it's got some funny moments and the plot's okay, but it's really just an average film. In my opinion, the best thing about this movie was Hugh Grant's roommate--that guy was funny.

Summary: Where is the Director's Cut?
Review: What a fantastic fairy tale. Especially for me as someone who adores Julia it is the thing I always dreamed about. The only sad thing is that it is over after two hours. Reading the book I found out that they have filmed much more scenes, some very interesting and important. So I ask: Where is the Director's Cut? I'm sure many people who loved this film would be interested in a longer version. Also could the DVD offer more Extra-Stuff

Summary: The best romantic comedy I have ever viewed!
Review: I must be honest with you, I really am not a fan of romantic comedies; however, Notting Hill surprised me. It was comical at times, yet sweet and light-hearted at other times. I can honestly say that is was one of the most enjoyable romantic movies I have seen in years. Hugh Grant's performance is award winning. One for the Nation.

Summary: A moving spiritual experience for me
Review: This movie has now moved into the position of being the movie I have watched the most times. The more I watch it the more I see. I don't know what the writer, director and producer intended but I think the muse was at work on this one. To me the sceen where Julia is telling Hugh that she is just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her is the soul surrendering to the beloved. All pretense is gone and only love is desired. And the love in their eyes at the end of the movie as well as the sceen on the park bench. The sufis say anything can lead us to the beloved. This film is doing a real good job of that for me.

Summary: joe average meets julia roberts and they fall in love!
Review: Probably the best romantic comedy I've seen in a long time! I usually don't care for Grant and Roberts because they tend to play themselves, but here that works - and works awfully well! The script is quite literate and consistently amusing, and the London scenery is really making me want to fly right over! London Tourism owes these filmmmakers a bundle! The supporting players are all perfectly cast - something only British films seem to do really well - and the little subplots involving them are all believeable and essential to the narrative thrust of the film. All in all, this was probably the most thoroughly enjoyable film I saw this past summer!
