Summary: I'd Kill To Be Able To Sing Like Her
Review: My God, Jane Horrocks is talented. Just incredible. My hair practically stood up on end when she sang, it gave me such chills. She has Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Bassey, and many other down dead-perfect--you would swear she is channeling them. It is one thing to be able to sing exactly like one of the many artists she impersonates, but she can do so many, and they are so varied! I wish I could do even one of them...instead, I sound more like a cat up on a fence that you would throw a shoe at. Anyway, she's not the only talented person in this movie, Michael Caine is brilliant, and so is Brenda Blethyn. I think I felt the most sorry for her character. There's a scene where she goes to meet Caine's character, Ray, in a bar. He has raved to her that morning about finally finding 'the one', etc. She thinks he means that he has fallen in love with her and wants to marry her, but he is actually talking about discovering L.V.'s talent and how he can cash in on it. She sits down, all glowing and excited, but when she realizes Ray was talking about her daughter the whole time and not her, her face just slowly falls, and the sadness you see is just heart-breaking. The scene I kept watching over and over was the performance scene 3/4 of the way through, where L.V. is able to shed her shy, mousy persona and start belting out the songs from all the singers she loves, leading off with a version of "Hey, Big Spender" by Bassey that had my jaw dropping open in amazement. She does a medly that lasts 10 minutes or so and is just a total show-stopper. After that, it gets kind of depressing (hence my minus one star) and obvious what is going to happen. But a very touching, impressive movie, and well worth renting just to have L.V.'s act blow you away.

Summary: Absolutely worth buying
Review: Everyone in this movie delivers a great performance. Sometimes, though, the heavy British accents are difficult to understand, and the ending is slightly cheesy. However, as a whole the movie is charming and should be in everybody's video library.

Summary: Delightful
Review: I just recently viewed this film on video. I rented it mostly for Ewan McGregor, since he is a favorite of mine right now, but I was delighted by the whole movie. Michael Caine was great, as was Jane Horracks (I couldn't believe that was her real voice!). All in all, a great feel-good movie that I will definately be purchasing once the price dips below the initial rental rate.

Summary: Good Beginning
Review: The movie loses steam towards the end, and the only character I liked for the whole movie was Ewan McGregor's. His scenes with Jane Horrocks were the best part of the movie. Jane Horrocks does excellent impersonations of stars, but her character is rather annoying when she's not singing.

Summary: Excellent, Excellent Movie...One of the best of the year.
Review: Little Voice is one of the best movies I've seen....a real "feel good" movie. The performances sparkle, and Jane Horrocks is amazing as LV....very unfortunate that both she and Michale Caine were not given Oscar nominations. If you want a good time, see Little Voice. A warm, fun movie that you don't want to see end. Just watch it and enjoy it.

Summary: Lots of British talent!
Review: Real acting! Jane Horrocks (aka Bubble in Ab Fab), Michael Caine, Brenda Blethyn, Ewan McGregor and Jim Broadbent gave great performances in this stylishly done gem.

Summary: REALLY BAD MOVIE/ GREAT ACTING
Review: I had been looking forward to seeing this movie when it came on video and was very disappointed. The performances by Caine, Blethyn, and Jane Horrocks were all great. and Horrocks voice - amazing! the best spot in the movie is when you get to see her on stage performing and that isn't enough film to make up for the depressing lot of it..it is a depressing story, the mother is awful to her.... if you like depressing, annoying movies, rent it...otherwise leave it on the shelf...

Summary: AWFUL!
Review: This movie was horrible! The flimsy plot was written around one woman's ability to do remarkably accurate impersonations, though that's not nearly enough to carry this seemingly endless wretch of a film. It's dreary, depressing, and, dull.

Summary: Fantabulous!!
Review: I am a student at Illinois State University, and they happened to be playing Little Voice at the Normal Theatre, as part of a movie festival, my friends and I went, and it was truly an enjoyable evening. One of the most beautiful stories of love and tragedy, filled with characters seething with reality makes this movie a must see. All of that said says nothing for the fantastic portrayal of LV she was so wonderful!! This movie is a must see, and when you see it recommend it to all who you know! What a fantastic film!
