Summary: Wonderful piece of work
Review: I would say 4 1/2 stars butgive the DVD 5 because of the extras (love the extended fight scene from the beginning on the deleted scenes part of the DVD)

Overall the story, cinematography, acting, music, choreography. It all came off great. If I had to say the one "flaw" you could say it has is length. They really could have shaved about 20 minutes off. The deleted scenes shows they really DID cut a lot out of the movie but there needed to be a bit more. A couple scenes really didn't serve that much purpose so lowering the total time would have helped win over more viewers. Personally though I dont mind! I'd love an extended edition even!

The story is just that great and having it loosely based on the french legend of the beast was very intrigueing. I am a big fan of all types of foreign films from Hong Kong cinema, anime etc. and this one is a MUST buy for lovers of all genre's.

I would love to get ahold of the Canadian version of the DVD as I've heard it has many wonderful extras that we Americans did NOT receive.

Summary: Visaually stunning mess.
Review: All i can say is this film was a disaster. A beautiful wreck of a disaster.

When it was not stealing ideals from major films (the opening attack is a ripoff of the opening attack in Jaws) etc, it was trying to cram in so many ideas that not a single one was served well or fully cooked.

But the Cinematography was at times truly brilliant.

Unfortunatly, i made the mistake of watching it with the voice dub and the awful voice acting made the ludicrous and haphazard story even more insanely stupid than if I had read the subtitles.

Of Course thats like saying 'infinity/2 < infinity'

Its such a shame because there could have been a really good story in there somewhere....if they hadn't smothered it with all the extra garbage...what a mess. what a shame. what a loss.

Summary: Le Pacte Des Loups
Review: I had no idea what to expect of this movie. I vaguely remembered seeing the commercials for it months ago and thinking that it looked kind of like a French Reign of Fire. That misconception is why it took me so long to watch this. After popping in the DVD, settling back on the couch, and crunching the first few kernels of popcorn, I was prepared to have to wait awhile to be drawn into the movie. I have seen many subtitled movies, and this has generally been what I have experienced. With this film things were different. The opening shot is brilliant, and any description of it I would give would not do it justice, but suffice it to say you are treated to the beautiful green hills of France as if you were riding through them on a rollercoaster. The camera comes to rest on a woman running through the hills. You see she is distressed, covered in blood. The Beast is after her. She stops near a cliff edge to rest, and that is when the Beast takes her. After this scene you will have forgotten your popcorn. The movie has your full attention. It does not let up after that either. In the very next scene, we are treated to the first glimpse of the Iroquois Indian Mani's fighting style (the only thing I can compare it to is the Matrix and Crouching Tiger, although it is not entirely the same, nor is it like the hokey rip-offs used in other films) when he saves a woman from a band of attackers. There will be MUCH more where that came from, I assure you.

When most people think of foreign films, they assume it is going to be some high brow intellectual movie. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but in this case it is wrong. Brotherhood of the Wolf is more an action movie then anything else. It is lifted above the ranks of other normal action movies by the stunning and imaginative cinematography as well as the strength of the screenplay and dialogue. This is a foreign film that almost anyone can enjoy, although fanatical Vin Diesel followers need not apply. It is a necessary addition to your movie collection.

Summary: This movie made me wanna run into a brick building..........
Review: Brotherhood of the wolf is quite a movie. People are giving this 5 stars and saying how amazing this movie is. Ok, from what I got from the plot, 2 guys come into this town that seems to be attacked by this werewolf looking beast that kills people. So the 2 guys go and try to kill the wolf. Throughout the whole movie you see the interaction of the guy (whoever he is, the star) with everybody in the town. The movie is a French movie so when I watched the DVD it came up dubbed in english right away. While it was dubbed kind of bad the fights were great... as the movie went on it kind of sounded like the slashes and the cuts were kinda off from the actual slice and dice. Another bad thing about the movie is the constant bore of the guys life in the town except the (...) house scene...they really didn't dwell that much into what the wolf was doing until the last 45 minutes of the movie. And you expect an ending worth remembering...nah, its best to stop the movie right away, the ending (..). And the features on DVD, not really that much just the basic stuff. Another good thing about the movie is that the co-star is the guy on The Crow series. His fight sceans are grrrreat. I hope this review helped you as much as it helped me.

Summary: It had so much potential
Review: I have a bad back, two herniated disks to be exact, this means that I get really bad muscle spasms if i'm seating in an uncomfortable position for too much time. I don't go much to the movies, when I go I have to be sure that I will get really involved in the movie's story, otherwise my back will start to act up and ruin my movie experience.
For the first two thirds of this movie I completely forgot about my back. Then it happened, the movie all of the sudden became Mortal Kombat. I had to wrestle with my backpain so that I could make it to the end.
Don't get me wrong, I like action movies as much as the next guy.But when I went to the movie theater to watch Brotherhood of the Wolf, I was expecting suspense and intrigue, with maybe a little action on the side. For a little more than half the movie that is what I got, and I was enjoying it extremely. The movie is beautifully shot, the cinematography was just incredible. And the story, although hardly believable, made for an exciting and interesting movie that enthralled me in its world of espionage, monsters and superstition. That is until the ninjas come out. I could deal with the "great warrior" that the indian (Mark Damascos) was supposed to be, but once everybody turned into characters from a super action, kung fu fighting, video game / movie, well it all just went down hill from there. I can still remember getting up in the movie theater,(with some difficulty due to the muscle spasm that the last thirty to forty minutes of the movie inflicted upon me), and talking with friends, right as the credits rolled; of the potential that the movie had to become something great.
For a while I was living in its world. It just let me go about 40 minutes to early.

Summary: Best Movie of the Year
Review: ...This movie has romance, action, suspense, horror, and is quite possibly one of the most beautiful movies ever shot. It has really likeable characters that you will actually care for and characters that you will despise.

Ignore the naysayers, this is one you must see for yourself. Enjoy!

Summary: Not bad, but Conan the Barbarian he ain't!
Review: I honestly wasn't expecting much from this movie. The Rock's performance in the Mummy Returns was limited to grunting and speaking in Akkadian(??) -- and don't get me started on that CGI disaster at the end of the movie.

But after seeing the Scorpion King, I realize this guy's not half bad. Sure, the movie's cheesy as hell, the dialogue's a bit wooden, and the Rock seems to be mugging for the camera every five seconds -- but this movie was A LOT OF FUN! It moves along at a brisk pace, has some sweet sword fights, and Kelly Hu is really easy on the eyes. Check your brain and the door and enjoy.

And not that I needed another reason to get the DVD, I just saw that Universal's got a ... coupon for the DVD over on their ... Sweet!
