Summary: A real woman's movie
Review: Beautiful costumes, beautiful women and a beautiful-if somewhat tragic-story...two women find inner beauty and freedom through vastly different humbling experiences. Of course, they are each sexually/sensually/spiritually awakened by someone as part of the process... A beautiful story, although the acting could have been better in parts...wonderful costuming and good casting choices along with atmospheric music and scenery make this one a real feast! Not for the prudish or chauvinistic. I recommend watching this one alone or with someone who is deep;sex is part of the movie, but is not gratuitous...rather, it is crucial...

Summary: Excellent casting, lush locales and sumptuous costumes
Review: Main characters manage to captivate in what is at times slow moving drama but well crafted and tastefully done. Ramon Tikkaram and Indira Varma share undeniable on-screen chemistry. Excellent musical score and dance sequences. Strong supporting cast.

Summary: A wonderful reproduction of the Real Kama Sutra.
Review: It is not a porno movie. It just simple a cultural exposure. Even the sexual intercourses was not explicit. You do not need to be grotesque to show this theme. Great scenario and the music really awesome. And the performers did nice. The sound and image is going to impress anybody. DVD reproduction: atonish Do not miss it!

Summary: No matter what life gives you, choose life!
Review: Too bad your reviewer didn't get it. The whole point of the movie was that no matter what you get or where you are put in life, always - no matter what, CHOOSE LIFE!!!!!!!

Summary: 2 couples from different castes want the same things
Review: Visually stunning, filled with beautiful colors, an Indian landscape that probably looks the same as it did in the 16th century setting of the film, Mira Nair shows us the differences between the castes. Two sets of couples' lives become intertwined as friendships extend beyond the class differences that ruled Indian society. Meanwhile, the cost of following the path of the heart is paid by, you guessed it, the lower caste couple, in particular, the female. Surprise. But all their lives are affected by the actions they take. In a larger context, the contrast between the path of duty to family and society's expectations versus following one's heart is filled with risk and only the strongest are able to go against the tide of popular opinion. And if that doesn't grab you, some of the most beautiful, tasteful erotic moments I've ever experienced on celluloid. This one's to own, folks.

Summary: Sweet and Beautiful
Review: This movie had an amazing rhythm. I fround it enchanting, however my boyfriend hated it. I can understand that -- it's a film about the beauty of being a woman. I could (and will) watch this film again and again.

Summary: lavishly beautiful eye candy; fabrics and costumes glorious
Review: An aesthetically pleasing film, Kama Sutra offers up the feeling of old India, displaying the lush color and texture of fabrics exquisite in their beauty. Music is lovely. Film important for giving overall look and feel of the area in 16th century India, Rajastan I believe. Plot is simple, but young actors make the entire experience a feast for the eyes. It is a sensually pleasing experience to watch Kama Sutra; this is true of all Mira Nair's work. Light, lovely, luscious -- see the film. Do not expect greatness, but enjoy the delights of the color, the music, the beautiful skin, hair, eyes and bodies of the actors. Scenes of intensely erotic lovemaking done tastefully.

Summary: Cinematography was excellent as was the music
Review: I actually hadn't known what Kama Sutra was until after I rented the film. So I had little to compare this with. While most who are watching this movie for sex will be greatly disappointed, I thought this an excellent film. The Cinematography was very good... The music I must buy the soundtrack very soon. The music turned me into a fan of the film. Actually the basic storyline (the love interest story line) echo's a little of the storyline within Titanic. While I won't give away the ending of this storyline.. That's what occured to me a couple of hours after watching it..

Summary: A Visual Feast
Review: Kama Sutra is an absolute feast for the senses...the lush settings, exotic costumes and erotic interplay are absolutely stunning and the soundtrack is superb. This is an excellent movie to watch with a lover....one you'll want to see over and over. The occasionally forced dialogue and contrived situations are completely forgivable in this sensual masterpiece. It has little to do with the Kama Sutra, honestly, but I would still highly recommend it.

Summary: I liked this movie...a lot!
Review: This movie is visually beautiful and the cast is hot!! Especially Ramon Tikaram! What a star! He took my breath away. Of course, there are a couple of moments in the movie when you are like, "puh-leese", but overall, the movie is good, and the story keeps you interested. Mira Nair is a talented director. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. I think that some people may have expected too much and they got disappointed, but there's no denying that this movie is a feast for the eyes, as well as your heart.
