Summary: The best video purchase I have ever made!!!!!!!!
Review: I rate this video as the top pick on any video collectors list, you have to own it! I was so impressed I began reading my bible cover to cover after watching this. It has brought the lord back into my life stronger then ever. I am still trying to find the orignal soundtrack that Donny did, I sing the songs daily in my head. OWN IT!

Summary: Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!
Review: The acting was great, the music is some of the best in a musical I've ever heard. Donny makes a great Joseph, and the brothers are all great. Personally, I LIKE switching back and forth between Joseph and the school children. And after reading about half the reviews here, I noticed a bunch of them called the costumes "racy". Well, all I have to say is get a life. Nothing explicit happens. I'm twelve years old (and currently involved in the production of this show for our high school), and I'm not "scarred" as some reviews say children will be if they see this scene. This is an excellent movie, it all transfers very well from the stage.

Summary: MariaFriedman/Donny Osmond; superb casting!
Review: This edition of Joseph achieves exactly what it sets out to do. It was designed as a musical with broad appeal, with something for everyone. Lloyd Webber and Rice succeeded at several different styles of music in this musical (country, pop, disco, 60's rock, calypso). I challenge you to name another musical with the same attributes.

However, for me, the real sell in this video comes in the performances of Donny Osmond and Maria Friedman. In relating a story, Friedman is a most convincing narrator because of her remarkable facial expressions. She makes the story seem new and fresh with each viewing. Granted, she may not be the most gifted vocalist in the musical market, but I would rather be moved by the authenticity of the storytelling. Donny Osmond is perfectly cast as the youthful, naive and honest Joseph.

This video is taking a beating from some, and getting raves from others. I belong to the latter group and would recommend this to anyone.

Summary: Short but boring.
Review: AS an admirer of the great JC Superstar and Cats, I expected much. But, this was really disappointing. What's the point? What's the narrator for? Songs are weak (no memorable song). Nothing special in story. No enjoyable dance. Strange mood of adult (costumes! and even the narrator herself). And school boys and girls...for what? I really enjoyed JCS and Cats movie but I cannot recommend this(Joseph) at all. Boring and nothing enjoyable.

Summary: Good Movie
Review: This is a wonderful movie. They don't make it seem like it's being done on stage. It's mostly for kids, but grown-ups will love it too. After I saw this, I just fell in love with tons of musicals like "Hair". The music is unbelievable, and the narator does a good job.

Summary: Go Go Get Joseph
Review: This is one of the most captivating musicals I have ever seen. Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice at their best ! Great music, fantastic imagery and acting, with lyrics that keep you listening for every word. Donnie Osmond shows tremendous talent and ability. When I started this DVD, 4 boys ages 8-11 came inside on a sunny day just to catch the show. Its great fun !

Summary: Great for the Entire Family!
Review: I never saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond before, so I decided to watch this and found it to be extremely good. I was amazed at the singing quality by all of the actors. It was staged in a great way. I actually felt like I was sitting in a theatre with the best view of the stage! For someone who was really skeptical about seeing this show, this proved me to be a huge fan of it. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves musicals and/or Donny Osmond's voice:) Maria Friedman is amazing as the Narrator, as is Robert Torti (Pharoh). You will love this once you see it.

Summary: 5 stars isn't enough for pharaoh
Review: Ok, I LOVED this movie...no matter how many timesI watch it, or how many different versions I have on CD (3), this version makes me laugh every time I watch it. Maria Friedman is great as the narrator--she just really fits in with the rest of the cast and the image that they are trying to portray. Donny Osmond is the best Joseph I have heard by far & the life he gives to his character & the interactions with the kids and other characters just bring it that much closer to perfection.

But by far--the best part of the movie is Robert Torti as Pharaoh. come on--Elvis as Pharaoh--what else do you need? The other two songs that come close are Gerry McIntyre (?) doing "Benjamin's Calypso" and Potiphar's song.

Just the variety of the entire musical & the way it is staged for this production make is something that is fresh everytime you watch it. Also, the songs are active enough that kids will sit through it. I can't say it enough---watch this movie.

Summary: Surprisingly good!
Review: At first I thought this movie would be very long and boring, but from beginning to end I was surprised more and more at the entertainment delivered by this film. Donny Osmond's performance shines above all as well as the Pharoh "Elvis" Scene.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent cast - beautiful visuals - great encoding
Review: What a find. As a fan of Joseph for some time, I have held off on purchasing this product until I bought a DVD player. Finally, I was treated to this amazing production, and was blown away. Donnie makes the perfect Joseph, and the rest of the cast was equally as energetic and talented.

The behind the scenes narrative was informative and entertaining, but I could've done without some of the school-children scenes.

Technically, this recording is great, if not near perfect. Sound is good, but with my Digital sound, some solo vocals with chorus backup were muffled, particularly the Pharoah's numbers.

BUY IT!
