Summary: The best cast I've ever heard!
Review: This cast of Cats is the best I've heard, and I've heard most! I especially liked Elaine Paige as Grizabella, Michael Gruber as Munkustrap, and John Partridge as Rum Tug Tugger. They all gave their characters that something extra that really made the show work. Good job!

Summary: SEE IT LIVE, THE VIDEO IS BORING AND FLAT.
Review: I saw the London Production 3 times, once with my husband, once with my 4 children (who were enchanted) and once with visiting family. I felt the same excitement and thrill every time, and when I hear the music I can still visualize the dancers. I have seen a lot of musicals in my life, but this is the only one I could go and see again and again. The video was disappointing, I did not much care for it at all! Sad really that something so magical on stage could end up so flat and boring.

Summary: I feeel the urge to waaatch it . . .
Review: I love this DVD! I watched it once, and now I'm hooked! My fave character is Misstoffles, I can't spell it, my fave songs are Mistofles(Auggh!), Macavity, and Old Deuteromony. "Can it be really...Yes...No...Ho hi, oh my eye!" "And we all say: OH! Well I never, was there ever, a cat so clever as magical Mr. Mistoffles!" OK, I'll quit it with the songs. All I can say is..."YAY FOR CATS!"

Summary: Will always capture someone's heart!
Review: Cats is a musical that has been written for everyone. Andrew Lloyd webber has done it again in this musical that has stood the test of time and it shows. Cats is a musical that is not only appropriate but also good for them.

Summary: A classic like no other!
Review: This is such a cool movie! It really catches you. Some of the songs get repetitive, but I could listen to Macavity again and again. Look for Bumbleirna! She's the coolest cat, But Jemima has the best voice. If you've never seen it, you are really missing out.

Summary: Great video. Doesn't beat a live performance, though...
Review: I'm a great Cats-fan. I've seen Cats live in London, and if you don't have the money or time to go and see it live, the video's a great alternative. It's got great dancing and singing, well, everything the musical has really, although not really the atmosphere. Many of the actors are from the original casts or from current casts. If you like musicals and/or cats, this is definately a video you want to see.

There is a horrible mistake in the credits by the way. Jo Gibb and Drew Varley do actually sing themselves. Their voices were NOT dubbed.

Summary: FANTASTIC! A purrfectly splendid show!
Review: I had never had a chance to see Cats on Broadway, but I loved the soundtrack, so I bought the movie. I only watched it last night, and I'm in love with it already. My favourites are Munkustrap and Mr. Mistoffeles. I hope I can see it live someday!

Summary: A great buy! Makes you want to see it live!
Review: It was the Cats Video that first introduced me to Cats. I havn't been able to put it away since. It persuaded me to go to London to see Cats live, and I wasn't dissapointed. In London I heard about the DVD version, so I ordered it once I got back home. I didn't have any DVD facilty yet, so I ended up with the Cats DVD before I ws even able to play it. I spent 200+ pounds on a DVD kit, just to play that Cats DVD, but is was SO worth it. I like to turn the volume up loud! And with the VHS, I just cant bear that backround noise, the constant hissing I mean. Plugging my DVD decoder card dirctly into our TV provided me with the best video and audio quality I have ever heard and seen on a Television. And then to hear Jemima sing teh first lines of 'Memory'. It brings a tear to my eye every time.

As for the poor editing, it never really bothered me much, I didn't actually notice most of it, until it was pointed out to me. I think that of all the negative things people can point out about the vid, about it not being true to the live version, I think the vid could have been potencially much worse! What they ended up with, dispite all that was lost (cut scenes, cut lyricks) was good, and I will cherish this DVD always! I'm off to pickup those plane-tickets to London, I'm off to see Cats again! YAY!

Summary: Worth buying but.....
Review: For the music alone this DVD is worth buying. For the visual experience it only rates a 3. The editing TERRIBLE! Continuity is lost when you notice a cat in one place and a second later they appear clear across the stage. The directing is marginal. Too many tight shots when the whole cast is dancing takes away from the visual effect of the production. The cast is excellent. Too bad the editing and directing didn't live up to it.

Instead of rushing this production out in 15 days they should have taken an extra 15 and did it right.

Summary: Very Addicting!
Review: This movie really has a way of growing on you. The music and cast are terrific. My favorites are Rum Tum Tugger and Mungojerrie. Oh, and I like Pouncival as well. Even though there are some parts when the editing was a bit awkward, I truly have come to love this film. My sister and I watch it everyday, and know all the songs by heart.
