Summary: a bunch of thieves
Review: Am I the only viewer in the world who has trouble with a movie who's premise is that it is ok to steal...both from the lottery and from the rightful heir to Devine's fortune (who is the heir because of the scummy morals of the local "beauty"). I give up. Surely whimisical fantasy-farce doesn't have to be this nasty.

Summary: Cracking roots Irish comedy
Review: This film is a crakcing good laugh from start to finish. I would recomend a purchase of the sound track which is absolutely fabulous. If you haven't been to Ireland it will make you want to go.

Top Film!

Summary: Charming
Review: Charming and humorous, if somewhat shallow, comedy with just a touch of angst. The restrained British sense of humor works well. Not a lot of big laughs, but loads of titters and smiles. Good performances all around. The widescreen DVD was gorgeous and showcased the splendid scenery.

Summary: Give this to everyone for Christmas!
Review: My fiance and I saw this movie when it first came out in the theatre - we laughed unitl we cried! This movie is brilliant, appropriate for any age from 1 to 100, and I just can't tell you how funny it really is. We are buying copies for everyone at Christmas. It really is that good.

Summary: Pleasurable Experience, again and again and.......
Review: THIS MOVIE IS "FEEL GOOD" ENTERTAINMENT AT IT'S VERY BEST!!!! I do not know, if it acurately portrays the Irish, (and the Irish may hate this movie), but that really was not the major issue. As far as I am concerned, this story could have taken place anywhere, describing gentle, yet crafty people, with goodness at heart, and (thank goodness) without gory violence and/or foul language, which generally overshaddows most pix out there in movieland. However, the great Irish actors, the beautiful scenery, and the wonderful musical score made me want to know more about the Irish. Watching it for the fourth time, but this time on my DVD with subtitles, allowed me to catch up with some twist and/or little, but important, points, which had escaped me while watching it on VHS several times, due to the heavy Irish broque. But even though I did not "catch" all the subtleties the first time or the second or the third, I still loved it and the soundtrack with all my heart!!!!

Summary: Charming and funny, with some wistful twists
Review: I really enjoyed this movie. It certainly had a great deal in common with "Whiskey Galore" which came immediately to mind. It also reminded me very strongly of the place and the people of my mother's village in the extreme Southwest of Ireland, where I have spent a good deal of my own life and intend to spend far more. Although a fantasy, it had a grounding in the reality of contemporary rural Ireland. Even the wallpaper in Jackie O'Shea's kitchen is the same as in my aunt's! The essential goodness of the people, even though perpetrating a serious fraud, rings true.

Summary: Waking Ned Devine is a MUST see!
Review: I rarely view a movie more than once however I have watched Waking Ned Devine 3 times & will probably enjoy it again soon. It richly deserved an Oscar nomination as did the two male leads. Why they and the picture were not nominated is beyond me. WND is in my personal Top Ten & I have been viewing movies since 1945!

Summary: The Best
Review: This movie is the best. It has heart, character, and charm and will leave you gasping for breath between laughs. I must redeem Oklahoma from the reveiwer that said it stunk and tell you it is the best. THE BEST.

Summary: Hilarious!!!
Review: This was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The acting is superb and the scenery is beautiful. I don't know why they chose to film it on the Isle of Man, perhaps they got a better deal there, but the scenery looks exactly like Ireland. My favorite part was the eulogy scene, when the lottery man walked in. Talk about hilarious! This will definitely be a welcome addition to my video collection!

Summary: As good as an apple tart.
Review: This is the kind of movie that makes me smile from beginning to end. Every character in it was played to perfection, including the location. The music also gave the movie a well deserved richness and depth. I have seen it many times and enjoy it each and every time. It has a beginning, a middle and an end and they're all good. Can't wait to have my own copy of this one.
