Rating: Summary: Come ON, Mickey! Conjure Up This Movie! Review: As a ten year old girl, I was absolutely swept up in this story. It probably says something (pathetic) about me that I was creating fan fiction (if only in my head) in which my Mary Sue Alter Ego was riding with the Scarecrow. I suspect that it was this film that warped me for life. (Oh wait, no, that was the Legion of Super Heroes.) This had it all: horses! swords! disguises! danger! bravery! heroics! and a cool title song!!!
Now, I realize it is some forty years later and I may be looking back fondly through a HUGE fog of nostalgia, but that movie has stayed with me. The scenes at the inn. The horses pounding along the shore ahead of the army. Our Heroes hiding in the barn. And can ANYONE forget the "hanging" of the man who betrayed the Scarecrow? I remember more scenes and lines of dialogue than from a lot of the newer Disney offerings.
Why are they so reluctant to release it? Do they think we baby boomers are going to last forever? Disney, you're sitting on what could be one of your biggest sellers EVER and for what? Please release it and soon. Thousands of nostalgic people will definitely reward you!
Rating: Summary: DisneyBland Review: It's so ridiculous yet typical for Disney to delay this project. The real question is, why are they releasing a shorter version? The ORIGINAL 3 part Wonderful World Of Color version is longer than 129 minutes. Disney has a cash cow on their hands, but they're more interested in releasing dumbed down pap to medicate the kiddies. May the mouse burn in eternal hellfire.
Rating: Summary: Dr. Syn alias the Scarecrow Review: AAAAAAAAARGH!!!! Delayed again. We have been waiting for years for this release and it is dumb beyond belief that Disney won't release it. I worked at Disney World for 10 years and have seen them do some dumb things but this is the grand prize on the dumb award list.
Rating: Summary: There's a petition! Review: I love this movie -- historical connotations and all -- I remember watching it as a child and I want to see the whole thing NOW! I can sing the theme song chorus for pete's sake -- but I won't.
OK, ranting over.
I was inspired by other reviews to google it -- there's a petition here that has a draft letter and a link to Buena Vista requesting the best possible edition -- heck, maybe they decided to upgrade it and that's why they pulled it -- who knows.

(If Amazon doesn't post it, just google scarecrow of romney marsh)
Rating: Summary: All we've got are the memories...Disney has the film Review: Reading the other reviews I realize now why I never saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show, I watched "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh" instead. After 40 years, this show remains vivid in my memory. Over the years since, I've only seen one VHS copy of this available (as a rental), and I nearly wore it out making sketches for a Halloween costume while taking my kids trick-or-treating.
What I really found hard to believe, was having to explain to dozens of my contemporaries, where I got the idea. They had never seen the show! Neither have my children who are grown and gone now (what an opportunity Disney [read Eisner] missed).
All the other reviews are demanding, begging, and pleading for Disney to follow through on their plans to release this on DVD. You can add my voice to that list and I echo many of their assessments of Disney "quality" of late.
So I have to ask...what happens to Disney (Scarecrow) fans that have grown up? They become Star Trek fans and Farscape fans and Dr. Who fans, etc. Why? Because Disney didn't try to keep our attentions.
Disney, give us something to come back to. The Boomers you're ignoring are the largest segment of the population; and we're the ones with the disposable income remember? So...there's an emotional plea and some business logic. Disney, just do the right and RELEASE NOW!!!! I just can't see a clamoring in twenty years for you to re-release "Home on the Range".
Rating: Summary: Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow Review: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! I would like to know what the holdup is with releasing this movie on DVD. It was supposed to have been out in August. It is now nearly November. It's really a great movie for the whole family. So, PLEASE put it out on DVD ASAP.
