Summary: Great documentary, but...
Review: As a HUGE clash fan since the late '70s that simply can't get enough of them, I must admit that the material that made it onto this DVD is fantastic and totally compelling. That said, I can't help but be quite disappointed that there isn't significantly more of the (obviously available) live concert footage. The tidbits we get are great, but why not more?

To me, the ride these guys were on from '76 thru '82 was really special. They were way ahead of everyone else and churning out high-quality material as rapidly as the Beatles in their prime. So why is it that their stage performances (unlike there studio sessions) remain on shelves somewhere. I don't care about the quality of it - it's [...] historic!!

The documentary aspect is fine, but how likely am I to watch it again... it's questionable. If they had added (maybe on a second disc) a show or partial shows, I'd be replaying it regularly. FYI there is no full song played live on this DVD, just short pieces. I spliced together all of the concert footage from "Rude Boy" 20 years ago so I would have something when I needed a fix - and this DVD is just marginally better, from the live music aspect.

If such a DVD is coming, I apologize and take this all back - I'll buy it the day it's released!

Summary: Expensive purchase
Review: Bought this as a passing interest in The Clash. Found it very insiightful, very entertaining. At the end, felt that I had to actually buy some of the albums now. $50.00 later, still buying.

Very informative, let's you know how it all got started, in depth behind how things got created. I am not an expert, but I really enjoyed, wisheed there were more Clash DVD's out there. Highly recomend.

Actual real creative, original music. Wonder if that will ever happen again?

Summary: A Rock n Roll essential
Review: Don Letts former dj from the infamous Roxy in London and original rasta man to punks everywhere captures the true spirit of what The Clash were all about. The Clash perhaps more than any other rock band in history embraced the true rock n roll theory and this film is a marvelous depiction of how genuine and true The Clash were to themselves as well as their fans. From raw rock to blues, ska, gospel, reggae, dub, hip-hop & mercy beat The Clash were and forever will be the greatest rock n roll band this planet has ever seen & this film is a must see for anyone remotely interested in seeing the real deal.........what it means to be passionate about something as simple as music. If you don't like THE CLASH you don't like rock n roll.

Summary: What it is
Review: First of all, I would recommend this dvd. It is not super long, in fact I would say its a perfect length. Mostly it contains dialogue between the band members and individual recounts and commentary, not too much concert footage. If you watch the dvd closely you will understand the title of the dvd. damn those guys were cool.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Great documentary by Don Letts using home movie and concert footage, interspersed with interviews with the band members. Amazing to watch and reflect back on what music was like then.

Summary: THE WHOLE STORY...WANKAR!!
Review: I bought this DVD about two weeks ago and already have viewed it more than 10 times or 11, anyways if you know of any clash or musical documentaries you would like to own for your own dvd collection then this one is definitely a one to keep for yourself. The late Joe Strummer is so unforgettable in this film when viewed.

Summary: A must have!
Review: I have not seen the DVD yet, but I have a bootleg copy on VHS from the UK. This is the MOST spectacular documentary of any band. You'll almost cry at the end just like Strummer almost does.

If you like punk, raggae, ska, or the clash, this is a must have.

Summary: Nothing better
Review: I may only be 15, but the image and sound of The Clash, have shocked me. This dvd pretty much portrays the image and is not what you would call a normal music dvd. It is more based on the interviews with Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Topper Headon and Paul Simonon and what happened in their own words.
The clips of the band playing live narrow down the perspective of the punk era and all the stuff you woould expect the most influential punk band to do.
I reccommend this album and if you don't buy it, there will be nothing that compares with it.
PEACE OUT
